Description

The invention relates to a two-part packaging, made of a semi-rigid material such as cardboard or corrugated cardboard, for the transport and display for sale of various articles. More specifically, it relates to a packaging of this type comprising a tray, in which the packaged articles are housed, and a lid, which covers the articles packaged in the tray and can be made integral with the latter, for example by gluing, for the purpose of transporting and storing the full packaging, which may be disconnected from it, at the same places of exhibition for sale of these articles.

A .A package comprising a tray according to the preamble of claim 1 and a lid according to the preamble of claim 4 is described in the document GB 23 70 034 A .

It is known a method of manufacturing a packaging made of a semi-rigid material comprising two parts nested one inside the other described in the document FR 2 794 681 .

The present invention aims at providing a packaging of this type, which can be easily shaped and assembled by the users, from two blanks of semi-rigid material, precut and repressed, which respectively constitute a blank of the tray and a blank of the lid.

The invention also aims to provide a packaging of this type that can be easily opened on the exhibition sites for sale of packaged items.

Finally, the object of the invention is to propose a packaging of this type, in which the lid is supported on the packaged articles, which ensures excellent resistance to stacking of the full packages.

  • les deux parois longitudinales de la barquette comportent à une de leurs extrémités une partie dont la hauteur par rapport au fond est supérieure à celle du reste de la paroi et au moins égale à celle des articles à conditionner, tandis que les volets articulés à cette extrémité ont une hauteur analogue, ces parties des parois longitudinales et les volets associés comportant en outre respectivement, à leur partie supérieure, un rabat articulé par une ligne de pliage parallèle au fond, l'un de ces rabats étant destinés à prendre appui sur les articles conditionnés, tandis que l'autre rabat vient à recouvrement sur le précédent et en est rendu solidaire par collage ;
For this purpose, the subject of the invention is a packaging of the type defined above, in which the tray comprises a rectangular panel constituting the bottom, on the sides of which are articulated by fold lines two longitudinal walls and two transverse walls rectified perpendicularly to this bottom panel, the longitudinal walls having at each of their ends flaps hinged to them by fold lines perpendicular to the bottom and folded so as to come into contact with the adjacent transverse walls, which they are secured by points glue, in which:
  • the two longitudinal walls of the tray have at one of their ends a portion whose height relative to the bottom is greater than that of the rest of the wall and at least equal to that of the articles to be packaged, while the flaps articulated at this end have a similar height, these parts of the longitudinal walls and the associated flaps further comprising, respectively, at their upper part, a flap hinged by a fold line parallel to the bottom, one of these flaps being intended to bear on the articles conditioned, while the other flap overlaps the previous and is secured by gluing;
  • the lid portion comprises three panels hinged together by parallel fold lines, which are perpendicular to the bottom of the tray, these three panels being folded to form a U, the panels corresponding to the branches of the U being intended to be interposed between the packaged articles and the longitudinal walls of the tray, which they are secured by a glue point, while their base is in contact with the bottom thereof and has a length substantially equal to that of the inner face of the longitudinal walls, the panel corresponding to the base of the U being itself intended to be interposed between the packaged articles and the transverse wall contiguous to the end of the longitudinal walls opposite to the upper part of these walls, the base of this panel being in contact with the bottom of the tray and having a length substantially equal to that of the inner face of the transverse wall cor corresponding, each of said panels having at its upper part a flap hinged by a fold line parallel to the bottom of the tray and having a height at least equal to that of the articles to be packaged, so as to be able to bear on them, the two flaps, adjacent to the panels corresponding to the longitudinal walls of the tray covering the flap adjoining the third panel and being secured to it by gluing.

The ends of the flaps adjacent to the cover panels associated with the longitudinal walls of the tray may comprise, at their end adjacent to the higher height of the flaps adjacent to these longitudinal walls, a tongue directed towards these flaps and engaged above the flaps which their are adjoining.

As will be seen better in the following description of an embodiment of such a package, the top of the lid resembles the bottom or the top of an American flap crate, while the bottom of the Tray is a solid board, like the bottom of usual trays.

Each of the parts of the package, considered separately, is another object of the invention, as well as blanks precut and repressed, a semi-rigid material from which they come.

When the full package arrives at the exhibition sites, it is sufficient, to open it by removing the lid, to separate the flaps arranged at the ends of the longitudinal walls of the transverse wall opposite the high parts of these walls and to make swing the lid outwards on the side of this transverse wall.

As will be seen below, the lid and the tray can be shaped and assembled almost simultaneously, from the pre-cut and repressed blanks from which they are derived, by applying the three panels of the blank of the lid on the faces of a suitably shaped punch, disposed above a matrix of shape adapted to that of the tray, on which bears in a suitable position the blank of this tray, by applying glue points at appropriate locations thereof blank, and engaging the punch supporting the blank of the lid to the matrix to simultaneously drive the bottom of the tray.

This method of manufacture can be implemented on a barretteuse modified for this purpose.

In the packaging thus produced, the upper part of the lid is opened and the package can then be filled as would be an American box, before folding the flaps of the upper parts of the tray and lid and assemble.

The packaging can also be made and filled by grouping the articles to be packaged in the position they will occupy in the tray, by folding the blank intended to form the lid so as to cover the items with this lid in the position it will occupy in the package, bringing the resulting assembly into an appropriate position on the bottom panel of the blank of the tray previously glued to the desired locations, and then shaping the tray by known techniques around the lid, rendering it simultaneously secured to it by the glued parts.

Other characteristics and advantages of the invention will appear below in the detailed description which follows of an example of implementation thereof.

The longitudinal walls have the general shape of an L, with a portion 5 has raised relative to the bottom 4, while the walls 6a, 6b, have a conventional, rectangular or trapezoidal.

The ends of the walls 5 of lower height relative to the bottom are hinged by fold lines perpendicular thereto two flaps 7, the same height as the wall 6a, against the internal face of which they are folded and which they are made integral by a point of glue, while at the ends of greater height of these walls 5 are articulated by fold lines perpendicular to the bottom two flaps 8, having the same height as the parts 5 has walls 5, these flaps being folded against the inner face of the wall 6b contiguous, they exceed substantially in height, and being secured to them by a point of glue. The base flap 8 has a length substantially equal to half the length of the base of the wall 6b, so that the flaps 8 folded against the wall 6 b are contiguous and close the tray 1 over their entire height of this side.

At the top of the parts 5 has walls 5, are articulated by folding lines parallel to the bottom 4 of the flaps 9, folded perpendicularly to these walls, while at the top of the flaps 8 are hinged flaps 10, folded perpendicularly to these flaps and engaged under the flaps 9, which they are secured by gluing.

The cover 3 forming a cap comprises two longitudinal panels 11, articulated on a transverse panel 12 by parallel fold lines, which, in the position of use of the packaging, are perpendicular to the bottom 4 of the tray. The panels 11 are intended to be interposed between the articles 2 and the inner face of the longitudinal walls 5 of the tray 1, while the panel 12 is intended to be interposed between the articles 2 and the wall 6a of the tray 1. The panels 11 and 12 are supported on the bottom 4 of the tray 1 and the base has a length equal respectively to the internal faces of the walls 5 and 6 adjacent to the tray.

At the upper part of the panels 11 and 12 are articulated by a folding line of the flaps, respectively 13 and 14, folded perpendicularly to the adjoining wall, which come to bear on the objects 2, the flaps 13 covering the flap 14 and being joined as we see on the figure 3 , so that the upper part of the lid 3 resembles the bottom or the upper part of an American box. The flaps 13 may extend, at their end adjacent to the flaps 8 of the tray, by a tongue 15, which is applied on the adjacent flaps 10 adjacent to these flaps 8.

As we see on the figure 1 In the starting blank from which the tray 1, the Upset by which the flaps 8 are hinged to the longitudinal walls 5 are aligned with one by which the transverse wall 6b is articulated to the bottom panel 4. Similarly, Upset by which the flaps 7 are hinged to the walls 5 are aligned with one by which the transverse wall 6a is articulated to the bottom panel 4. Finally, the Upset by which the flaps 9 and 10 are hinged respectively on the parts 5a and the flaps 8 are aligned with each other.

Similarly, in the blank shown on the figure 2 , from which the lid is derived, the ups and downs by which the flaps 13 and 14 are articulated respectively on the walls 11 and 12 are in the extension of each other.

As has been explained above, it is possible to implement and assemble the tray 1 and the lid 2 almost simultaneously, using a punch 16 and a die 17, as schematically illustrated on the figure 4 .

The matrix 17 has a shape and dimensions suitable for shaping the tray and the punch 16, placed in line with the matrix 17, also has a shape and dimensions adapted to those of the lid 3.

A blank 1, intended for producing the tray, is first brought into position above the die 17, with the bottom panel 4 disposed opposite the inlet of this die, while a blank 3 for producing the lid is brought into contact by its side panels with the corresponding flat faces of the punch 16.

After deposition of glue points at the appropriate locations of the blank of the tray, the punch 16 is engaged in the die 17, so as to form the latter and make it simultaneously secured to the lid.

At the end of this operation, the lid is open at its upper part and it is possible to fill the packaging at the top in the manner of an American box, before folding the flaps and assemble them by gluing.

Such a process of shaping and filling can be implemented at a high rate on the same places of sale of the products.

As indicated above, other methods of manufacturing and filling the packaging are usable.

To open the packaging on the exhibition sites for sale articles 2, by removing the cover 3, simply detach the wall 6 has flaps 7, and tilt the cover 3 and this wall outward to remove then the lid.

Note the great simplicity of design and realization of the packaging according to the invention. Note also the high resistance to stacking of full packaging, in which the packaged articles make an essential contribution to the vertical compressive strength.
