Abstract
Description
The invention relates to an on device for locating artillery and sniper positions during their firing.
Artillery and sniper weapons - as is currently known - are often used non-specifically in conflicts against civilian targets and therefore represent a terrorist potential, which is primarily "drying out" in peace-making missions. As the recent past has shown, the problems of localization are particularly easy and medium-sized artillery weapons - such as mortars etc. - have not yet been solved.
Combating artillery positions is usually done by measuring the firing gun with acoustic sensors etc. and then firing at it. Furthermore, a modern measuring instrument with high accuracy is available in the form of an artillery observation radar. The shelling is generally carried out with artillery shells, guided missiles, launching bombs, etc. These means of fighting are invariably lethal and basically go beyond the scope of self-defense, especially for so-called "peace-building units" such as those represented by the UN associations. For this reason, such units are always required to have a very high deployment threshold. Because of the prevailing long periods of time between terrorist artillery use etc. and the requirements of countermeasures and finally their use, these may already be directed against wrong targets and then contribute significantly to the escalation of another conflict.
The applicant has proposed in DE 42 28 539 A1 - a complex multi-sensor system for the detection and identification of weapons and combat situations, which is far too complex for anti-terrorist use.
The situation is different with snipers, they can only be fought individually at close range and have the opportunity at any time to escape the access of the peacekeeping units, for example by subordinates in the civilian population.
A large number of devices for locating and protecting objects are known from the prior art, for example from DE 29 00 444 an outdoor area monitoring system by means of sound pickups, or from DE 35 04 552 an alarm triggering device which works without installation. However, all of these object protection devices are little or not at all suitable for variable use in combating terrorist measures.
Furthermore, from DE 35 04 552 A1 a device is known that specifically detects acoustic signals and triggers an alarm if they match predetermined signal patterns. From DE 28 29 239 C1, a likewise acoustically operating detection device is known from the military field, the signal of which, however, serves to align a weapon. Finally, DE 93 20 382 U1 also shows u.a. acoustic alarm device for installation in a battlefield vehicle.
The present invention has for its object to provide a resource that can be used both to support artillery control, as well as to combat snipers, is generally easily and quickly available and ensures localization in all cases.

The general idea of the invention provides for a specially designed marking means either to be applied prophylactically to locations suitable for artillery or sniper positions, or to be brought to already enlightened positions with a means of delivery. Such means of transport naturally depend on the application in question. For artillery positions, these can be, for example, flying dispensers, guided missiles or mine laying systems, or so-called rifle grenades for snipers in positions already occupied.
- a) equipped with an
acoustic trigger sensor 11, the sensor being adjustable to the bang signature of the guns, mortars, machine guns or ordinary ammunition to be fought, the signature acoustics of the so-called "heavy weapons" as they are in a range of less than 100 m distance occurs, is used. In addition, the detonator is provided with a so-called "clearing lock" which automatically triggers the signaling means when an attempt is made to remove, clear or fire. This room lock can be a simple mercury switch, for example. - b) from a pyrotechnic signaling device that is visible beyond building and vegetation limits and is also effective for a certain time - for example 15-30 seconds. These can be luminous balls with associated shot cups or so-called "Greek fire".
- entspricht. The above-described device for localization or its signal means for marking the addressed guns or rifles to be monitored is triggered when one or more shots are fired in the detection area of the
The stored signature can be variably programmable in one embodiment, can be specified in a second embodiment by selecting from differently set detonators, and in a third embodiment can be implemented in a broadband manner with threshold values. For example, only an evaluation of low frequency components for the detection of large calibers can be provided or high frequencies for the detection of rifle fire can be set.
The highly visible optical marking by means of a pyrotechnic signaling device also enables a small observation group to monitor a large area, to localize snipers or artillery etc. directly and to correctly identify the means of control and to document the observation result.
Further variations are possible, for example in the case of an individual attachment to the gun itself in the course of a control of heavy weapons, a coding system can additionally be implemented by means of different designs of the pyrotechnic signaling means - for example by means of different or combined colors. This ensures, for example, that the guns of one party are properly distinguished from the other party.
When deployed over inaccessible or defended positions by means of carrier bullets or missiles, the respective carrier must be destroyed at a sufficient height above the position to be monitored. This can be done by means of conventional radar or laser based detonators in the carrier itself.
