Description
The invention relates to a connector with a housing made of insulating material with contact chambers in which contact elements with a connection area and a contact area are arranged in a row and at least one contact spring is provided in a row parallel thereto, each contact spring connecting two contact elements as a short-circuit bridge , and with a plug body made of insulating material, which is designed with a row of contact pins or knives intended to be inserted into the contact elements and in a row parallel thereto for each short-circuit bridge with an interrupter element made of insulating material which is used for the coupling from the housing and plug body, a contact spring lifts off the interconnected contact elements.
Such a connector is known from DE-GM 90 10 565. To form a normally closed contact in the uncoupled state of the housing and connector body, contact members are provided in the second row of contact chambers, which are each formed with at least one bent spring leg and each with at least one spring leg protruding into the second contact chamber row First contact chamber row arranged contact elements interact. In this known plug connector, the normally closed contact is separated in that an insulating pin of the plug body pushes apart the spring legs of the contact elements and the contact elements in opposite directions at the adjacent, bent contact points when coupling the housing and plug body.
The invention is based, with a plug connector of the type mentioned to improve the spring action of the short-circuit bridge.
This object is achieved in that a) the short-circuit bridge consists of a contact spring with a spring base mounted on the inside of an outer wall of the housing and at least one freely resilient contact leg, connected at one end to the spring base via a cross-sectionally U-shaped bend is, b) that the contact leg is provided with a shape directed towards the contact elements as a contact point and c) that the shape is in direct contact with a transition area designed as a contact area between the connection area and the contact area of two contact elements.
In such a connector, the spring work is carried out exclusively by the short-circuit bridge. The two-leg design of the short-circuit bridge in cooperation with the connection of the two spring legs via a U-shaped bend results in an extension of the spring legs, which leads to a significant increase in the permissible spring travel. Since the position of the contact point on the contact leg can be optimally selected and the short-circuit bridge is actuated by the interrupter element of the plug body at the free end of the contact leg, a low actuating force is achieved with a high effective contact force. The result of such a connector is an improved spring action and an improved tolerance compensation. The design of the short-circuit bridge according to the invention also allows direct contacting at the transition area of the contact elements between the connection and contact area. The contact is thus made at the most favorable point in an area with a low contact resistance. In addition, direct contacting of this type makes it possible for short-circuit contacting to use the contact elements already provided for normal use in connectors in a geometrically identical form, ie the usual contact elements can continue to be used unchanged for short-circuit contacting.
In the case of a connector according to the invention, the rear side of the transition area facing the shape of the contact leg expediently runs e.g. embossed flush with the back of the contact area of a contact element. This is particularly advantageous if the contact element is inserted into the housing of the connector after the short-circuit bridge and its rear side slides over the shape of the contact leg of the short-circuit bridge.
In the case of an embodiment with good leverage which is advantageous with regard to the spring action, in particular with regard to plug-in force and contact force, the contact leg of the contact spring is approximately twice as long as the spring base. It is particularly advantageous if the shape of the contact leg is arranged about a third of the total length of the contact leg from its free end.
Advantageously, the contact leg of the contact spring is offset somewhat towards the spring base by an offset at the transition to the U-shaped bend. An offset on the contact leg increases the distance between the contact leg and the connection region of the contact element opposite it and gives greater security against electrical bridging.
In the case of a connector according to the invention, the contact leg is preferably provided in its center with a longitudinal slot extending in the longitudinal direction of the leg and extending from the free end of the contact leg. This results in a double contact of the short circuit bridge with one Doubling of the clearance and creepage distance, here two contact legs are formed by the longitudinal slot, which abut two contact elements. With such a design of the contact spring, it is expedient if the longitudinal slot extends beyond the U-shaped bend to the spring base. In this case, the slot end can be used as a pressure surface for pressing in the spring base.
For anchoring the short-circuit bridge in the housing of a connector, it is advantageous in view of the very small dimensions that are possible with such contact springs if an additional detent spring made of spring steel is placed on the spring base, which engages with an extended spring tab in an opening in the outer wall of the Housing clicks into place. It is expedient if the spring tab is provided lying beneath the spring base to the side of the U-shaped bend. In this way, a large area of the spring base, which is advantageous with regard to the absorption of the reaction forces, can be achieved.
With regard to the most compact possible structure and the most compact possible arrangement of a short-circuit contact consisting of two contact elements and a short-circuit bridge, it is advantageous if the contact spring is arranged together with two contact elements as short-circuit unit in a common contact chamber of the housing. In this case, the outer wall of the housing is formed with two lateral guide grooves for the spring base and the contact chamber with a centrally arranged support rib to fix the position of the contact spring. A sufficiently secure position fixation of the short-circuit bridge can thus be achieved with a very compact arrangement and little effort in fixing means for the short-circuit bridge.

The surface between the contact legs 9a, 9b at the end of the slot serves as a pressure surface 16 for pressing the spring base into two lateral guide grooves 17, 18 on the inside of the outer wall 11 of the housing 1 up to a stop 19 which is centered in one Contact chamber 2 arranged double T-shaped support rib 20 is formed. To further fix the position of the contact spring 4, an additional locking spring 21 made of spring steel is placed on the spring base and engages with an extended spring tab 22 in an opening 23 in the outer wall 11 of the housing 1. For this purpose, the spring base 8 is provided with two recesses 24, 25, in which the detent spring 21 is fastened with two bending tabs. The spring tab 22 is provided below the spring base 8 to the side of the U-shaped bend 10. As a result of the "extension" of the contact spring 4 by the U-shaped bend 10, the contact spring on the connection side of the housing 1 extends over the
Kontaktkammer 2 hinaus. In this area, an L-shaped bracket 26 (FIGS. 6 to 8) made of insulating material is provided as a protective cover on the housing and e.g. attached to the housing 1 by latching means, the long leg 27 of the cover 26 with its outer surface being an assembly aid for the
Introducing a contact element into the contact chamber. On the opposite side of the contact spring 4, that is to say in the region of the free end 13 of the contact legs 9a, 9b, a support wall 28 for the interrupter element 32 is provided in the contact chamber, which extends close to the shape 12. In addition, the outer wall 11 of the housing is also provided with an outwardly open recess 29 for the free spring end 13 of the contact limbs which is pushed aside by the interrupter element 32 when the housing and plug are coupled.
