Description

The invention relates to a connector for the releasable connection of electrical conductors, with a plug part each comprising an insulating housing and a coupling part, of which the one connector part is provided with at least one receptacle for connecting at least one conductor, in particular in the form of a ribbon cable, and is essentially free of force can be plugged together with the other connector part and pivoted there into a coupling end position, in which contact surfaces assigned to the first connector part come into conductive connection with the second connector part, the at least one receptacle of the first connector part in the assignment area to the contact surfaces of the second connector part at least is partially open and each conductor itself forms the contact area assigned to the first connector part and the first connector part has an approximately sleeve-shaped, essentially closed-walled receiving space for d The conductor-insulating sheath and in the plug-in direction thereon has at least one partially open receptacle for the stripped conductor ends.

Such a connector is known from US-A-3 366 919. The first connector part designed as a plug has an opening through which the ribbon cable, namely a film with printed conductor tracks, is pushed. On the side pointing toward the second connector part receiving the plug after pivoting, the opening is enlarged in cross section by a receiving space for fastening a tongue-like support plate for the rear to create the conductor foil. The supporting tongue is anchored in this space by gluing, just like the foil conductor track is glued to the supporting tongue with its back. As can be seen from this construction, the design and assembly of the known connector are quite complex. Above all, it is not suitable for ribbon cables with individually insulated wires.

The invention is based on the object of simplifying and improving a connector of the type required in the preamble of the claim with regard to the first connector part and the attachment of the line to it.

The invention solves this problem with the features of the patent claim and is accordingly characterized in that the first connector part is provided with strain-relieving hooks for engagement in openings arranged between conductors of a ribbon cable, which protrude into the insertion path of the ribbon cable in such a way that when the ribbon cable is inserted into the first connector part the positive coupling of the openings with the hook takes place automatically and that for each conductor there is a partially open receptacle, the partially open receptacles forming diametrically opposite windows which form each conductor
  • are arranged both in the conductor direction and diametrically offset from one another or
  • run axially, i.e. parallel to the conductor and whose width is smaller than the conductor diameter.

The ribbon cable and the first connector part can be connected to one another by means of pre-assembly, by simply plugging them together. Without further ado, it is also possible to either plug the first connector part together with the line and then couple this unit with the second connector part or insert the first connector part into the second connector part, then insert the line and connect it with the first Swing the connector part together into the position of use. In any case, the strain relief is automatically effective when a line is first connected to the first connector part.

The configuration according to the invention is particularly advantageous for a ribbon cable with individual insulated wires as conductors. The sleeve-shaped receptacle fixes the cable, while the partially open receptacles hold the stripped conductor ends in place, but allow the contact elements of the second connector part to have electrically conductive access through the windows. It is essential that the bare conductor ends have a stable hold without having to be bent or bent over in order to be able to come into contact with both contact elements of the second connector part.

Due to the staggered arrangement of the windows there is a support surface in each contact area on the side of the conductor facing away from the window for the leader and for taking up contact forces. In contrast to the variant described in US Pat. No. 3,366,919, in which, for the purpose of double (redundant) contact in the second connector part, the line is laid around the free end of the supporting tongue, the conductor ends do not have to be deformed here advantageously.

An alternative embodiment provides that the partially open receiving chambers form windows that run axially, that is to say parallel to the conductor, and whose gap width is smaller than the conductor diameter. This version does not require a length offset of the windows, because here the window edges securely support the conductor against the contact forces.

Für die besonders vorteilhaften Merkmale der Anordnung und Zuordnung der Fenster gibt jedoch weder dieses Dokument noch US-A-3 366 919 einen Hinweis.FR-A-2 562 338 already discloses a connector which has a hook on a connector part for engaging in an opening arranged between conductors of a ribbon cable, the hook projecting into the insertion path of the ribbon cable in such a way that when the ribbon cable is inserted into the connector part a positive coupling of the opening with the hook takes place automatically. However, neither this document nor US-A-3 366 919 gives any indication of the particularly advantageous features of the arrangement and assignment of the windows.

Show it:
  • 1 is a perspective view of a first connector part with a ribbon cable,
  • 2 shows the arrangement according to FIG. 1 in a preassembly position with respect to a second connector part,
  • Fig. 3 is a representation corresponding to FIG. 2, but in the clutch end position, and
  • 4a to 4d a first connector part provided with a connecting line in view and in three different sections.

The connector part 11 has in an insulating body 12 a number of fork-shaped contact elements corresponding to the number of conductors 16 to be connected with the contact legs 14 and 15 which to be contacted with the respective conductor 16 of line 13.

The first connector part 10 consists of an insulating body 17 which is injection-molded in one piece and in one piece from plastic. It is subdivided into essentially two sections 18 and 19, section 18 forming an essentially sleeve-shaped, closed-walled receiving space 20 for the end section of line 13 provided with insulating jacket 21, and section 19 serving to receive conductors 16. Openings 22 are provided in the bottom of the receiving space 20 for the passage of the stripped conductor ends 16, so that they can enter the front section 19 of the connector part 10, in a straight, unbent manner. This section 19 has - corresponding to the opposing contact legs 14 and 15 of the second connector part - diametrically opposite windows 23, 24.

So that the resilient contact legs 14 and 15 cannot push the conductor 16 out of its receptacle within this section 19, the window width here is smaller than the diameter of the stripped conductor end 16.

Beim Ausführungsbeispiel ist die Anordnung so getroffen, daß die Haken 26 mit Bezug zur Einschubbahn der Flachbandleitung 13 so angeordnet sind, daß beim Einschieben der Leitung 13 in den ersten Verbinderteil 10 die formschlüssige Kupplung selbsttätig erfolgt.4a to 4d, the windows 23 and 24 are wider, but offset in the longitudinal direction of the conductor (FIG. 4b), so that each contact leg 14 or 15 finds an abutment section 25 on the side facing away from the stripped conductor end 16. 1 and 4 there are hooks 26 which protrude into the insertion path of the conductor 13 and are intended to form a positive connection with openings 27 which are in between the conductors of the ribbon cable 13 as shown in Fig. 1 are arranged. In the embodiment, the arrangement is such that the hooks 26 are arranged with respect to the insertion path of the ribbon cable 13 so that the positive coupling takes place automatically when the line 13 is inserted into the first connector part 10.

This can be done during cable assembly, ie if a cable is connected to a first connector part 10 independently of its coupling to the second connector part 11. However, handling resulting from FIGS. 2 and 3 is also possible. First, the unequipped first connector part 10 is inserted in an inclined position into a designated receiving space within the second connector part 11 (FIG. 2). As can be seen, the contact legs 14 and 15 do not yet dip so far into the section 19 of the first connector part 10 that the conductor 16 could be touched. Therefore, the line 13 with the stripped conductor end 16 can be inserted without force into the first connector part 10, the stripped conductor ends 16 not touching the contact legs 14 and 15. The first connector part 10 with the line 13 accommodated therein is then pivoted counterclockwise with respect to FIG. 2 into the position shown in FIG. 3, which is secured in a non-releasable manner by a small projection against unintentional pivoting back. When the first connector part 10 is pivoted from the first position according to FIG. 2 into the end position according to FIG. 3, the stripped conductor ends 16 received in section 19 of the first connector part 10 are also pivoted and thus come into contact with the contact legs 14 and 15 of the contact elements of the second connector part 11. Now the plug connection is mechanically and electrically secured.

The substantially sleeve-shaped sections 18 of the connector part designs described serve, as mentioned, to guide the conductor 13, but additionally also as a handle body for handling this connector part 10.
