Als
anorganische Komponente des Mikropartikelsystems kommen beispielsweise
Bentonit, kolloidale Kieselsäure, Silikate und/oder Calciumcarbonat
in Betracht. Unter kolloidaler Kieselsäure sollen Produkte
verstanden werden, die auf Silikaten basieren, z. B. Silica-Microgel,
Silical-Sol, Polysilikate, Aluminiumsilikate, Borsilikate, Polyborsilikate,

Die Teilchengröße liegt bei mindestens 50% kleiner 2 mm.Clay or kaolin is a hydrous aluminum silicate with platelet-shaped Structure. The crystals have a layer structure and an aspect ratio (diameter to thickness ratio) of up to 30: 1. The particle size is at least 50% smaller 2 mm.
Sie liegt im Bereich von 6–13 m2/g.As carbonates, preferably calcium carbonate, natural calcium carbonate (ground calcium carbonate, GCC) or precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC) can be used. GCC is produced by grinding and visual processes using grinding aids. It has a particle size of 40-95% less than 2 mm, the specific surface area is in the range of 6-13 m 2 / g. PCC is made by passing carbon dioxide into calcium hydroxide solution. The average particle size is in the range of 0.03-0.6 mm, the specific surface area can be greatly influenced by the choice of precipitation conditions. It is in the range of 6-13 m 2 / g.
The inorganic component of the microparticle system becomes the pulp in an amount of 0.01 to 1.0% by weight, preferably in an amount from 0.1 to 0.5% by weight.
Die Frequenz des Ultraschalls beträgt beispielsweise mindestens 20 kHz.Treated according to the invention the aqueous suspension of the inorganic component with ultrasound. The ultrasonic treatment of the aqueous Suspension of the inorganic component of the microparticle system For example, it may be carried out batchwise. The frequency of the ultrasound is at least for example 20 kHz.
The Sonication of the aqueous suspension of inorganic However, the component of the microparticle system can also be continuous be performed. The aqueous suspension of inorganic component of the microparticle system is then, for example passed through a cell in which the ultrasound treatment takes place. The aqueous suspension can under atmospheric pressure or under increased pressure by the treatment center be guided. When higher pressures applied are, for example, they are 1 to 10 bar, preferably at 1 to 5 bar.
B. 100 bis 500 Ws/ml.These continuous performance of the ultrasonic treatment has the advantage of being integrated directly into the papermaking process can be. The thus treated aqueous suspension at least an inorganic component then becomes continuous to the papermaking process fed. The ultrasonic treatment of the aqueous Suspension of the inorganic component of the microparticle system is performed at least as long as that during the application Such a suspension in the papermaking process a Improved drainage and retention a corresponding untreated aqueous suspension is achieved. For example, the amount supplied to the system Energy (energy / volume) at least 20 Ws / ml, mostly at least 70 Ws / ml and is preferably at least 100 Ws / ml, z. B. 100 to 500 Ws / ml.
The ultrasound treatment of aqueous suspensions of phyllosilicates of a microparticle system leads to a delamination, ie a separation of silicate layers. The most necessary treatment of an aqueous bentonite suspension using an Ultra-Turrax ® device or a high-speed stirrer for finely dispersing and / or delamination of bentonite in water can be omitted in the inventive method. Rather, it is already sufficient to disperse the inorganic particles in water first with the aid of a stirrer and then treat the suspension with ultrasound.
The invention is also the use of aqueous Suspensions containing up to 10 wt .-% of at least one layered silicate and which have been ultrasonicated, as inorganic Component of a microparticle system in the manufacture of paper, Cardboard and cardboard.
The Density of the pulp is for example 1 to 100 g / l, preferably 4 to 30 g / l. The aqueous fiber slurry is subjected to at least one shear stage. She goes through at least one cleaning, mixing and / or pumping stage. The Shearing the pulp can be done, for example, in a pulper, classifier or done in a refiner. After the last shearing stage and before the Headbox on the screen is metered according to the invention Microparticle system. Particularly preferred is an operation, first using the cationic polymer and then the ultrasonically treated inorganic component of the microparticle system dosed to the pulp, which was previously sheared. You can, however also initially the ultrasonically treated inorganic Component of the microparticle system and then the cationic polymer or add both components to the stock at the same time. Thereafter, the dehydration of the pulp is carried out without further Influence of shear forces on a sieve under sheet formation. The paper sheets are then dried.
Except the microparticle system can be the stock usually process chemicals used in papermaking in the usual amounts enforce, for. Fixative, dry and wet strength agents, engine sizes, biocides, and / or Dyes.
With the method according to the invention is compared the known method, an improvement in drainage and an improvement in the ash retention, without the formation and deteriorate paper properties. Also achieved a significant improvement in fiber recovery and thus relieving the water cycle of the paper machine.
The Percentages in the examples mean weight percent, if the context does not indicate otherwise.
The Viscosity of aqueous suspensions of bentonite was in a Brookfield viscometer (spindle 3, 20 rpm) at a Temperature of 20 ° C determined.
The Particle size of the bentonite suspended in water was using a Beckmann Coulter LS 130 by light scattering determined, where the specified particle size the median particle size (D50) is.
The Drainage time was in a Schopper-Riegler test equipment determined by adding in each case 1 l of the pulp to be tested dehydrated in it and time determined for the passage of 600 ml of filtrate was necessary.
The FPA retention (first-pass ash retention) was determined by determination the ratio of the solids content in the white water to Solids content determined in the headbox. Only the ash content was considered. The information is given in percent.
