İn 2016 he received his Ph.D. degree in sociology at İstanbul Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University.  His research interest are: turkish cinema, kurdish cinema, film studies, postkolonyal theori, colonialism. He has articles in the journals of Cogito, Culture and Communication, Teorik Bakış, Dipnot, Birikim.  In 2019, his book “Gemideki Hayalet Türk Sinemasında Kürtlüğün ve Türklüğün Kuruluşu” (The Ghost on the Bord: The Constitution of Kurdishness and Turkishness in Turkish Cinema) was published by Metis Publishing. He worked as a research assistant in the Faculty of Fine Arts at Van Yüzüncü Yıl University. Then, he was expelled from his post in 2017 since he signed the declaration of the Academics for Peace (2016). Currently, he is a postdoctoral researcher at Paris Sorbonne Nouvelle University.
