This study assessed the effects of design error on building projects delivery period. To achieve this goal, the study scrutinized literature from various authors and gathered primary data through a structured questionnaire. Out of the ninety-three questionnaires distributed among contractors, skilled labours, unskilled labours and industry professionals, eighty were returned, coded, and analyzed using descriptive statistics, percentiles, and mean item scores. The study concludes that design errors greatly extend construction timelines, disrupt workflows, cause procurement delays, hinder commissioning and testing, and adversely affect the execution of future projects. These disruptions result in higher costs and reduce the overall quality and efficiency of construction activities, emphasizing the crucial need for better design accuracy and management within the construction industry. The study recommends enhancing design review processes, leveraging collaborative project management tools, establishing clear change management protocols, strengthening supplier relationships, implementing rigorous quality assurance measures, and prioritizing team training. These actions are proposed to mitigate the impact of design errors on construction projects, aiming to reduce delays, enhance communication, and improve overall project efficiency.

The effect of global recession has caused many havoc to construction project in Nigeria, if not p... more The effect of global recession has caused many havoc to construction project in Nigeria, if not prevented, it can cause high cost of building materials, abandon project and insolvency. Therefore, this study examined the possible solution to the effects global recession on construction projects in Ondo state, Nigeria. This was with a view to reduce the effects of global recession on construction projects in the study area. The study is important to the construction stakeholders, policy makers and future studies. Seventy-one (71) valid questionnaires were administered among the construction stakeholders working on a construction projects in the study area, these include the Quantity surveyor, Architect, Engineer and Builder with a retrieval of Sixty-two (62). Frequency and percentage were used to analyze the demographic information of the respondents while data on possible solution to the effect of global recession on construction project was analyzed using mean score and ranking. The study concluded that Government should invest in large scale public infrastructural projects, transparency and check unethical behavior among workers, well prepared and planned budget are major possible solution to the effects of global recession in construction projects. This study recommended that Government involvement in providing the social amenities for the smooth running of the project, transparency among the stakeholders should be adopted and the scope of the project should be well understood in order to prepare a well-planned budget to curb global recession in construction industry.

These errors occur when information is applied incorrectly or inaccessible, leading to failures. This study aims to shed light on the contributing factors to the effects of design errors in building construction in the Nigerian building construction sector. To achieve this, the study reviewed works by various authors and collected data from primary sources using a well-structured questionnaire. Ninety-three questionnaires were distributed to contractors, skilled and unskilled labours, and industry professionals, of which eighty were returned, coded, and analyzed using descriptive statistics, percentiles, and mean item scores. The study's findings concluded that inadequate documentation is the primary factor contributing to design errors in building construction projects. Additionally, inadequate quality control, lack of constructability review, inadequate consideration of local regulations, and insufficient structural analysis were identified as other contributing factors to design errors in building construction, albeit with varying degrees of importance as discussed in this study. Based on the study's findings, it is recommended that building construction projects prioritize improving documentation practices to mitigate design errors effectively. Additionally, enhancing quality control measures, conducting thorough constructability reviews, ensuring compliance with local regulations, and conducting comprehensive structural analyses are crucial steps to minimize design errors.

Accidents have a negative impact on construction sites and, if unaddressed, can result in death, ... more Accidents have a negative impact on construction sites and, if unaddressed, can result in death, injury, or disability. Therefore, the strategies in minimizing the accident on building construction site. This study collected data through the use of structured questionnaires that were administered to registered professionals in Ondo State. The target population comprises of Quantity Surveyors, Architects, Builders, and Structural Engineers. Eighty-three (83) questionnaires were administered; and sixty-nine (69) were retrieved from professionals. The data retrieved were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Mean score response analysis frequency and percentages. According to the findings of the study, there are three main approaches that can effectively reduce the effects of accidents on construction sites for buildings. First and foremost, it emphasized the significance of establishing safe working conditions through the use of appropriate equipment, adequate instruction, and stringent safety procedures. Second, the study argued that employee participation in safety programs should be encouraged because workers play a crucial role in identifying and dealing with potential hazards. This involvement encourages collective responsibility for accident prevention and fosters a culture of proactive safety awareness. Last but not least, the study emphasized the importance of experience-based operations, recognizing the significance of accumulated knowledge and expertise in reducing risks and improving safety outcomes. These methods, taken together, offer a comprehensive strategy for reducing the effects of accidents on construction sites, ultimately leading to a safer workplace. In light of the review's discoveries, it is suggested that building construction site stakeholders should focus on the execution of exhaustive wellbeing measures. This includes making and keeping safe working conditions by making sure that the right tools are used, enough training is given, and safety rules are followed very strictly. Additionally, fostering a culture of proactive hazard identification and prevention and employee participation in safety programs can significantly improve overall safety outcomes. It is also possible to further contribute to the reduction of risks and enhancement of safety by valuing and making use of the expertise and experience of workers. Construction sites can effectively reduce the effects of accidents and create a safer environment for all involved workers by implementing these recommendations.

This study examines the factors hindering the involvement of quantity surveyor in engineering projects. A well-structured questionnaire was used to collect primary data because it is simple to use and relatively inexpensive to analyze. It was administered to Sixty-nine (69) professionals in contracting and consulting firms in Ondo State with the retrieval of Sixty-three (63) questionnaires Because of the significance of the motivation behind this study, the questionnaire comprised of two parts: part A demographic information of the respondents and part B focused on Barriers facing the participation of quantity surveyor in engineering projects. The target population comprises of Quantity Surveyors, Engineers, Clients, Architect, and Builders. The data retrieved were analyzed using descriptive statistics, mean score response analysis, frequency and percentages. The study concluded that the three major barriers facing the participation of quantity surveyors in engineering projects include stringent professional codes of ethics, lack of adequate time for pre-contract planning, lack of good communication among stakeholders. The study recommends that to enhance the participation of Quantity Surveyors in engineering projects, it is necessary to review and adapt professional codes of ethics, allocate adequate time for pre-contract planning, and foster good communication between quantity surveyors and other stakeholders handling engineering projects.

Accident has been identified as one of the major factors militating against the achievement of co... more Accident has been identified as one of the major factors militating against the achievement of construction project goal in the construction industry, and if not well prevented, it can cause delay of the project or lead to total abandonment of such project.Therefore, this study assessed the factors militating against implementation of health and safety precaution among construction site stakeholders in Ondo state, southwestern , Nigeria. This was with a view to reduce the occurrence of accidents on construction sites in the study area. The study is important to the construction stakeholders, policy makers, and future studies. One hundred and five (105) valid questionnaires were administered among the construction stakeholders working in selected construction sites in the study area, these include Architect, Quantity Surveyor, Engineer, Builder, Contractor, Craft man, Safety officers and Client with a retrieval of Seventy-five (75). Frequency and percentage were used to analyze the demographic information of the respondent while data on the factors militating against implementation of health and safety precautions among construction site stakeholders was analyzed using relative important index (RII). The study concluded that lack of effective supervision on sites, carelessness and over-confidence of stakeholders and inadequate engagement of safety officers were the major factors militating against implementation of health and safety precautions among construction sites' stakeholders in the study area. The study recommends that there should be effective supervision on site, stakeholders should be orientated against carelessness and over-confidence and also there should be adequate engagement of safety officers on every construction site

This study identified the risk probability factors affecting sustainable construction project goals. This was with a view to enhancing construction techniques. This study adopted a non-probability sampling techniques and data were collected through the use of well-structured Self-administered questionnaires that were administered to registered professionals in Ondo State, South western, Nigeria. The target population comprises of Quantity Surveyors, Architects, Builders, and Structural Engineers.One hundred and Thirty (130) questionnaires were administered in person in each of the three senatorial districts of the state. In addition, respondents came from both the consulting and contracting firms with a retrieval of One hundred (100).The data retrieved were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Mean score response analysis and percentages. The study concluded that the major risk probability factors affecting sustainable construction project goals are as follow: the public's satisfaction with the project is very low, operational performance fails to meet the objectives of the project, construction accident etc. It also recommends that public satisfaction must be considered in the execution of any sustainable construction project, proper operational performance must be put in place in order to meet the objectives of the project and adequate safety should be put in place to prevent construction accident.

To effectively tackle this challenge, project participants can reduce the occurrence of change orders through meticulous attention to detail both in the design stage and throughout the construction process. Therefore, this study examined the causes of change order arising from the execution of building projects. This was with a view to reduce the effects on the building projects in the study area. The study is important to the construction stakeholders, policy makers and future studies. Fifty valid questionnaires were administered and retrieved among the construction stakeholders working on randomly selected building projects in Oyo state, Nigeria. Frequency and percentage were used to analyze the demographic information of the respondents while data on causes of change order arising from the execution of building projects was analyzed using mean score and ranking.The study highlights the intricate interplay of causes of change orders in construction projects, with owners holding a central and crucial position.Based on the study's findings, it is strongly recommended that stakeholders in construction projects, including owners, consultants, and contractors, implement proactive measures to reduce the impact of change orders. Owners, acknowledging their pivotal role, should prioritize the development of clear and precise project briefs to minimize the necessity for subsequent modifications.

This study examined the impact of mass failure in measurement courses on quantity surveying students. This study collected data through the use of structured questionnaire that were administered to staff and students in the department of quantity surveying in institutions offering quantity surveying as a course of study in Ondo state, Nigeria. Eighty-one (81) questionnaires were administered and sixty-eight (68) were retrieved. The data retrieved were analyzed using descriptive statistics, mean score response analysis, frequency and percentages. The study concluded that the impact of mass failure in measurement courses on quantity surveying students includes finishing with low grade, dropping out of school and unsuccessful academic life. In order to improve grades, reduce dropout rates, and foster successful academic outcomes, it is recommended to implement comprehensive academic support programs that address the specific challenges faced by students in measurement courses, these programs should include providing tutoring services, implementing early intervention strategies, and promoting effective study habits.

This study assessed the corruption in construction projects. This study collected data through the use of well-structured questionnaires that were administered to registered construction professionals in Ondo State, Nigeria. The target population comprises of Quantity Surveyors, Architects, Builders, and Engineers. Sixty-one (61) questionnaires were administered; fifty (50) questionnaires were retrieved from professionals. The data retrieved were analyzed using descriptive statistic, mean score response analysis frequency and percentages. The study concluded that the four major causes of corruption in construction projects are godfathers in contract award, concealment of corrupt act, greed, issues of professionalism and best practices. Based on the study findings, it is recommended to address the prevalent causes of corruption in construction projects, including tackling godfathers in contract award, promoting transparency to prevent the concealment of corrupt acts, addressing issues of greed, and fostering professionalism and best practices.

This was with a view to implement strategies of accident prevention method in building construction site in the study area. Building construction workers, the general public, and future research will all benefit from the study. Eighty (80) valid questionnaires were administered to the respondents in selected construction sites in the study area, these include Contractor, Skilled labour, Unskilled labour, Professionals and Others with a retrieval of sixty-nine (69). Frequency and percentage were used to analyze the demographic information of the respondent while data on the effect of implementation strategies of accident prevention method in minimizing occurrences of accident in building construction site was analyzed using descriptive, mean score, and ranking. The study concluded that cost of operation rescue, increase compliance with dedication to safety, decrease time and money lost after an accident, improves safety and productivity, decrease time and money lost after an accident are the most significant effect of implementing strategies of accident prevention method in minimizing the occurrence of accident in building construction site of which it's major effect is on time. This study recommended that the implementing strategies of accident prevention method in minimizing the occurrence of accident in building construction site should be focused of all the construction stakeholders as it has major effects on time of the project.

The impact of the construction industry can only be enhanced through health and safety building r... more The impact of the construction industry can only be enhanced through health and safety building regulations to protect workers and the general community from the occurrence of accident. Therefore, this study identified the health and safety regulation in building construction. This study collected data through the use of structured questionnaire that were administered to registered professionals in Ondo State. The target population comprises of Quantity Surveyors, Architects, Builders, and Engineer. Sixty-one (61) questionnaires were administered, fifty (50) questionnaires were retrieved from professionals. In conclusion, the study highlighted the importance of three major health and safety regulations in the construction industry: first aid, personal protective equipment (PPE), and construction design and management. Implementing and adhering to these regulations is crucial to ensure the wellbeing and safety of workers on construction sites and to prevent accidents and injuries during building construction projects. Based on the study's conclusion, it is recommended to prioritize and enforce health and safety-first aid, promote the use of personal protective equipment, and emphasize effective construction design and management practices in the construction industry to prevent accidents and ensure worker safety.
