[CP-stable]Check that the windows architecture is 64-bit and not the process architecture #174063
Conversation
…hitecture (flutter#174019) Changes the platform detection for Windows - so that it can be invoked from a 32-bit process when we are on a 64-bit system. This is the case for example 'make' for windows which only comes with a 32-bit version. _PROCESSOR_ARCHITEW6432_ is only set if the process architecture differs from the platform architecture. Code Review
This pull request correctly updates the Windows architecture check in bin/internal/shared.bat
. The new logic properly distinguishes between the process architecture and the native OS architecture, which resolves an issue for users running Flutter tools from a 32-bit process on 64-bit Windows. The change is logical and well-contained. I have one minor suggestion to improve a comment's clarity, aligning with the style guide's emphasis on readability.
REM Ensure we are running on 64-bit Windows (32-bit is not supported).
REM If this is a 32-bit process emulated by WOW64,
REM PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE is the process architecture and
REM PROCESSOR_ARCHITEW6432 is the processor architecture. |

To enhance readability, this comment could be more precise. PROCESSOR_ARCHITEW6432
specifically refers to the native processor architecture when a 32-bit process runs on 64-bit Windows (WOW64), which is an important distinction from the process architecture mentioned on the previous line. Clarifying this aligns with the Flutter Style Guide's principle of optimizing for readability.1
REM PROCESSOR_ARCHITEW6432 is the native processor architecture.
