Summary of Changes

Hello @haochengxia, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!

This pull request introduces comprehensive documentation for the TraceReader class. The new documentation aims to clarify how users can effectively open and process trace files from various sources, including local storage and S3, and leverage the class's capabilities for reading specific segments of trace data. This addition enhances the overall usability and accessibility of the trace reading functionality.

Highlights

  • New TraceReader Documentation: A new markdown file reader.md has been added under the examples section to document the TraceReader class.
  • Usage Examples: The documentation provides clear Python code examples demonstrating basic usage of TraceReader, including opening traces from S3 and iterating through requests.
  • Reader Slicing: Detailed examples are included to illustrate how to use slicing and index access with TraceReader to read specific ranges of requests.
  • Navigation Update: The mkdocs.yml configuration has been updated to integrate the new reader.md page into the documentation's navigation menu under the "Examples" section.

Code Review

This pull request adds documentation for the TraceReader, including basic usage and slicing examples. The changes are good and improve the project's documentation. I've provided a few suggestions to fix some typos, grammatical errors, and a potentially misleading type hint in the new documentation file to improve its clarity and accuracy.

`TraceReader` class is the core of this functionality. When we create an instance of `TraceReader`, we open a trace file for read requests.

`TraceReader` accepts three arguments:
- `trace: str | TraceReader`: A trace path or other trace instance. The trace path can be a file path on your local machine (e.g., ~/data/trace.oracleGeneral.zst) or an S3 URI (e.g., s3://cache-datasets/cache_dataset_oracleGeneral/2007_msr/msr_hm_0.oracleGeneral.zst).

The type hint for the trace parameter seems incorrect. The TraceReader constructor expects a string path to the trace file, not another TraceReader instance. The ability to pass a Reader object is an internal implementation detail used for cloning and not part of the public API. To avoid confusion, it's better to simplify this.

Suggested change

There's a small grammatical error here. It should be 'formats' instead of 'format'.
