Abstract

Climate change due to increasing global warming demands human habits to change. Eco-friendly lifestyles are being implemented in some countries as well as in Indonesia. Evidenced by the start popping up environmentally friendly buildings and green open areas. This study examines the elements of green infrastructure at Khatulistiwa Park Pontianak City which includes appropriate land use, source and material cycle, health and comfort of space, management and building environment. Khatulistiwa Park as a conservation area of endemic plants, typical culinary Pontianak and West Kalimantan is very precisely built in the area of Tugu Khatulistiwa which is one of the historic buildings as an icon of Pontianak City. Use of building materials on the Khatulistiwa Park should pay attention to the impression and character that want to be displayed in the building view because the selection of materials will directly show the texture of the display. A shady environment with many plants around will lower the temperature of the area. Preparation of heat shading which serves as a heat retention fins. Access to the Equator Park area can use most of the land transportation in the form of motorbikes, cars, public transport and taxis, also accessible via water transportation.

Abstract

This study is aimed at developing strategy to improve the speaking skill of grade ten students SMK NMC Malang through modeling strategy. Modeling strategy is the strategy of giving examples, actions, and demonstrations of a certain topic in teaching speaking. The teacher should give a model how to practice the dialogue. This strategy is implemented in two cylces classroom action research (CAR), the researcher teaches the students while the teacher of the school act as the observer. The analysis of data uses qualitative and quantative data. The qualitative data are obtained from the observation sheet and field notes. The quantitative data are obtained through the observation checklist of the students’ involvement, tests, and questionnaire. The finding of this study indicated that the implementation of modeling strategy has improved the students’ speaking skill and the students’ learning motivation. It is also revealed that the students’ achievement of the second test with mean score 77.30 is better than the mean score of the first test 63. The questionnaire also proves that the students are interested in learning English after the implementation of the modeling strategy

Abstract

This research is categorized as a classroom action research (CAR). This research proposed to improve the speaking skill of university students by using modeling strategy in the teaching English at the second semester students of Sekolah Tinggi Teknik Malang to solve the students’ incompetency on speaking skill. Based on the researcher’s experience as a lecture and the results of preliminary research, it was revealed that the students were not confident to speak English, because they were shy to speak English due to the lack vocabulary and fluency, they hesitated to speak English because they thought that their English was not good enough. The result of the research showed that the criteria of success had been reached. There were two aspects determined as the success criteria of the implementation of group investigation in the teaching speaking; score improvement and classroom atmosphere (motivation). The result of speaking test presented that the students had made some progress. In the first cycle, average score was 7.42. It meant that the research was successful so the research stopped.

Abstract

Pertambahan penduduk yang terus meningkat mengindikasikan bahwa perkembangan penduduk menyebar ke arah pinggiran kota sehingga sebagai konsekuensinya adalah terjadi perubahan penggunaan lahan di perkotaan. Keterbatasan lahan kosong di perkotaan menjadikan daerah pinggiran kota menjadi alternatif pemecahan masalah. Saat ini, kota-kota di Indonesia telah mengalami perkembangan yang pesat sehingga muncul pergeseran fungsi-fungsi kekotaan ke daerah pinggiran kota yang disebut dengan proses perembetan kenampakan fisik kekotaan ke arah luar dari kota. Akibat selanjutnya adalah di daerah pinggiran kota akan mengalami proses transformasi spasial berupa proses densifikasi pemukiman dan transformasi sosial ekonomi sebagai dampak lebih lanjut dari transformasi sosial. Saat ini Kota Wisata Batu menjadi destinasi utama wisata Jawa Timur sehingga banyak turis lokal yang berkunjung ke Alun-Alun Kota Wisata Batu dan merupakan lahan penjualan bagi pedagang kaki lima. Hal ini berdampak baik karena membuka peluang bagi masyarakat Kota Batu untuk berjualan dan meraup keuntungan.Pembukaan lahan untuk perumahan di Kota Wisata Batu juga semakin marak.Namun pemerintah masih belum perhatian terhadap izin pendirian perumahan oleh pengembang. Hal ini tentu harus menjadi perhatian pemerintah lebih lanjut karena berdampak ke depan pada hak kepemilikan tanah dan bangunan. Kata-kata kunci : dampak pembangunan, pembangunan berkelanjutan, kota wisata

Abstract

Students writing skill is usually influenced by knowledge of grammar. To improve their writing skills they need to master English structure because it is needed to improve students' writing skills.Writing without correct structure is difficult to understand and even meaningless. Moreover, the students should have knowledge of structure first before they conduct writing activities. This study is conducted to find out whether there is significant correlation between knowledge of structure and ability to write English sentences of students Architecture Department at International Multimedia Engineering School. To solve this problem, this study was conducted in a correlation design. The result of this study found that the students who have knowledge of structure have good ability in writing. Therefore, the students are expected to have certain ways to learn English language skills especially about English structure and writing. The students are expected to read more English books so that students will be able to improve their English skills, especially for structure and writing.

Abstract

Mengajar bahasa Inggris di sekolah dasar tidak semudah mengajar bahasa Inggris di sekolah menengah. Untuk itu tentunya cara penyajian materi harus menyenangkan dan menarik agar siswa merasa tertarik dan senang belajar. Peneliti tertarik untuk menyajikan Pembelajaran Berbasis Topik siswa kelas V MI Al Rosyad Talang Pasuruan, sebagai dasar penelitian ini. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan prosedur pengajaran bahasa Inggris pada siswa kelas lima MI Al Rosyad Talang Pasuruan dengan menggunakan Pembelajaran Berbasis Topik dan untuk meningkatkan prestasi siswa khususnya dalam kosa kata bahasa Inggris. Untuk mencapai tujuan penelitian, peneliti melakukan penelitian tindakan. Hasil belajar memiliki hasil yang positif; terbukti bahwa berbasis topik dapat meningkatkan kosa kata bahasa Inggris dan mereka merasa senang dan lebih aktif di kelas karena mereka tertarik untuk mengikuti mata pelajaran, terutama dalam menghafal kosa kata. Oleh karena itu, pembelajaran berbasis topik hanya meningkatkan kosa kata bahasa Inggris siswa tetapi juga prestasi belajar bahasa Inggris siswa kelas lima di MI Al Rosyad Talang Pasuruan.

Abstract

As a tourist destination, Kota Batu must prioritize environmental cleanliness, aesthetics, and urban management in its development. However, the waste management system, which previously functioned well, has significantly deteriorated, leading to a waste emergency. As a result, residents struggle to dispose of household waste as they did before. Initially, waste disposal was done independently, but now the community is required to manage their waste without adequate knowledge. This situation has led to irregular household waste disposal practices. As part of community service efforts, this study applies the composting method as an emergency solution for household organic waste management in Junrejo Village, Junrejo District, Kota Batu. This method is expected not only to address the waste emergency but also to serve as a reference for other regions facing similar challenges. The outcomes of this initiative include the creation of a sample landfill for organic waste management and community education on composting applications. It is hoped that this program can be expanded on a larger scale and serve as a model for community-based waste management. Consequently, this initiative contributes to raising public awareness of the importance of sustainable waste management while supporting the cleanliness and beauty of Kota Batu as a leading tourist destination

Abstract

Program Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberdayakan ibu rumah tangga di Desa Pandanwangi, Kota Malang, melalui pelatihan keterampilan wirausaha makanan ringan yang berbasis pada pemanfaatan bahan lokal. Kegiatan ini dilatarbelakangi oleh tingginya potensi sumber daya pangan lokal yang belum dioptimalkan serta rendahnya akses ibu rumah tangga terhadap pelatihan kewirausahaan. Pelatihan dilaksanakan dalam bentuk workshop terpadu yang menggabungkan materi teoritis dan praktik langsung, meliputi teknik pengolahan makanan, pengemasan, manajemen usaha mikro, dan strategi pemasaran sederhana. Evaluasi kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa pelatihan ini mampu meningkatkan kapasitas peserta secara signifikan, baik dari aspek pengetahuan, keterampilan teknis, maupun motivasi untuk berwirausaha. Meskipun terdapat beberapa kendala, seperti keterbatasan fasilitas dan waktu peserta, kegiatan ini tetap berjalan efektif dan mendapat respons positif dari masyarakat. Keberhasilan program ini menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan pelatihan berbasis potensi lokal dapat menjadi alternatif strategis dalam pengembangan ekonomi keluarga dan pemberdayaan komunitas secara berkelanjutan.
