Abstract

This study aims to predict student achievement based on parental income and attendance. This study uses a quantitative approach with the population included all ninth grade students at SMP Swasta YP Utama Medan and the sample taken was 25 students. This study used instruments in the form of questionnaires and documentation. Data analysis used multiple linear regression to predict student academic achievement based on the variables of parental income and attendance. Prediction of students' achievement in grade IX at SMP Swasta YP Utama Medan based on parents' income and attendance patterns resulted in a Multiple Linear Regression equation that shows a positive relationship between economic conditions, students' attendance patterns and students' academic achievement. The accuracy level of prediction of student academic achievement based on parental income and attendance patterns shows that there are 16% of students getting excellent and 84% of students getting good grades

Abstract

The problem found is the low understanding of concepts on division operation material. This is due to the difficulty of understanding the abstract material. This is triggered by the lack of utilization of relevant learning media to overcome it. This study examines the effect of RME-based division machine props on the conceptual understanding of division among seventh-grade students at SMP Yayasan Perguruan IRA. This research design uses a pre-test and post-test control group as part of a quasi-experimental research method with a quantitative approach. The population of this study was all seventh-grade students, with a sample of 18 students in the control class and 18 in the experimental class. In the post-test, the control and experimental classes obtained sig <0.05, so it was stated that there was a significant difference between the experimental class and the control class. Thus, the study results showed a substantial effect in applying Realistic Mathematic Education (RME)-based division machine props on understanding the concept of division operations in class VII of SMP Yayasan Perguruan IRA. The findings highlight the practical effect of RME-based teaching aids in improving students' conceptual understanding and emphasize the need for scalable, inclusive teaching aids in mathematics education.

Abstract

The education sector plays a vital function in producing a flexible, innovative and internationally competitive workforce. However, the teaching of arithmetic still experiences obstacles, especially in fostering students' interest in topics that are considered theoretical such as statistics. This research was conducted to analyze the impact of using interactive PowerPoint-based learning media with a contextual approach on students' interest in learning statistics. This research applies quantitative methods with the subject of X-level students at SMA Negeri 1 Deli Tua. Data analysis procedures included normality testing, homogeneity of variance testing, t-test, simple linear regression analysis, and coefficient of determination testing. The research findings showed that contextualized intera ctive PowerPoint media had a positive impact on students' interest in learning. Through regression analysis, it was identified that the increase in students' positive responses to the learning media was directly proportional to the increase in interest in learning. Testing the coefficient of determination showed a figure of 40.66%, indicating that the variable of students' responses to the media contributed 40.66% to learning interest, while the other part was influenced by external factors outside the model.

Abstract

This study focused on identifying the magnitude of the impact of a deep learning approach assisted by GeoGebra-based interactive PowerPoint media and animated videos on junior high school students’ conceptual understanding, particularly on the topic of straight-line equations. The research employed a quasi-experimental methodology with a pretest–posttest design involving two groups: the experimental group and the comparison group. The measurement instruments consisted of essay questions, and the data were analyzed using normality testing, homogeneity testing, and an independent t-test. The findings revealed a significant improvement in the experimental group’s conceptual understanding. The higher average posttest score compared to the control group confirmed that the use of interactive media enhanced students’ understanding of the material in a more visual and engaging way. Furthermore, the deep learning strategy optimized students’ active involvement in understanding and connecting relevant material to real-life situations. Thus, the synergy between digital media and this learning strategy was proven to effectively enhance conceptual understanding.
