Abstract

The development of existing technology and information makes everyone never escape from the grasp of gadgets. The use of gadgets has permeated various walks of life, including elementary school children. The benefits of using gadgets in elementary school children due to the ease of accessing information, entertainment, games, interactive learning and as a reinforcement of technological skills are part of the children's experience in the digital era. The use of gadgets from year to year is increasing, causing changes in user behavior, including children. This behavior change is a deep concern because it affects the growth of emotional intelligence, empathy, and interpersonal relationships of children towards the formation of social attitudes in elementary school. This imbalance raises challenges as well as positive opportunities as a learning approach that supports the development of emotional intelligence and social attitudes for elementary school children in the digital age. A deep understanding of challenges and opportunities is expected to guide a balanced pedagogical and policy approach in harnessing the positive potential of gadgets to support the holistic growth of primary school children in the digital age.

Abstract

Numeracy skills are very important to be given to elementary school children because they can influence student learning outcomes by utilizing appropriate, creative and innovative learning media. This study aims to examine the variety of use of learning media that influence numeracy skills and student learning outcomes in several public and private elementary schools in Semarang City. The research method used by the researcher is qualitative description. The subjects of the study were twenty-nine teachers from four public and six private schools in Semarang City. Data collection techniques in the form of questionnaires and interviews. Data collection instruments in the form of questions are the application of numeracy that has been done, learning methods applied, learning media used, teacher perspectives on numeracy that affect student learning outcomes and numeracy skills. The results showed that the application of numeracy learning that was carried out correctly and accordingly by 20% and 80% was not appropriate. The learning methods used are very varied, 42% of teachers use contextual, other methods are in the form of games, cooperative, PJBL and PBL. Learning media that are widely used by teachers are concrete objects by 47%, the use of other media is in the form of games and ICT. The perspective of teachers on numeracy shows that 76% of teachers do not understand numeracy well and only 24% of teachers understand it well. This affects student learning achievement, namely 52% of students are still not good results and there are 65% of students whose numeracy skills are not as they should. The researcher suggested to the next researcher to more comprehensively examine the analysis of the use of effective learning media in order to influence the learning outcomes and numeracy skills of elementary school students to increase according to development and needs.

Abstract

Introducing local wisdom to elementary school students is an important step in creating a generation that knows their own culture. The introduction of local wisdom involves not only understanding traditions, but also the introduction of cultural products that have economic value, such as specialty foods. The purpose of this study is to develop entrepreneurial skills, critical thinking, and innovate independently through the product “Lumpia Wortel Tauge”. This model is designed to introduce the concept of edupreneurship by combining the material of natural resource utilization in science learning and the introduction of local wisdom through the process of making spring rolls. This research used a descriptive qualitative method. Data collection techniques used observation, interview, and questionnaire to measure active participation, collaboration among students, understanding of nutrition, and product production and promotion skills. The results showed that practice-based learning in spring roll making can improve students' understanding of science concepts as well as basic entrepreneurial skills. Thus, students are not only consumers of products, but also learn to be creative producers who appreciate local cultural heritage and understand the importance of healthy eating. The results recommend that students can learn entrepreneurship by utilizing local wisdom and adding innovation as a development product. Carrot bean sprouts spring rolls are a new potential that can develop practical entrepreneurial skills for students of SD Pangudi Luhur Santo Yusup.
