Abstract

Air pollution and shifts in consumption habits toward more immediate choices have negatively impacted health by increasing the levels of free radicals in the body. Antioxidants, which can neutralize free radicals, are found in various plants, including dates (Phoenix dactylifera L.). Dates are known to exhibit antioxidant properties. In this study, date fruits were extracted using distilled water as a solvent through the maceration method, followed by evaporation. The resulting extract was subjected to qualitative secondary metabolite testing, alongside analyses for total phenolic and flavonoid content, as well as antioxidant activity using the DPPH method with UV-Vis spectrophotometry. The data were analyzed by calculating the inhibition concentration 50 (IC50) value, and results were fitted into a regression equation. Phytochemical tests confirmed the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, and tannins in the date extract. The antioxidant activity test yielded an IC50 value of 98.02 µg/ml, classifying the extract as having very strong antioxidant activity. The total phenolic content was 1.16 mg GAE/g extract, and the total flavonoid content was 0.12 mg QE/g extract, indicating that the date extract contains significant levels of phenolic and flavonoid compounds.

Abstract

Background: Sleep and rest are important components in baby development. Babies need fourteen hours of sleep a day. The body will release 75% of growth hormone when the baby sleeps. According to WHO data (2018), the prevalence of sleep disorders in babies in the world is 33% who experience sleep problems. Meanwhile, the prevalence of sleep problems in Indonesia is quite large, with 44.2% of babies experiencing sleep problems such as frequently waking up at night. Baby massage will make the baby sleepier and increase alertness or concentration. The increase in the length of a baby's sleep, which is an indicator of the quality of a baby's sleep due to massage, is caused by an increase in serotonin secretion levels produced during massage. Massage therapy using virgin coconut oil has no side effects on babies. Applying Virgin Coconut Oil to the skin keeps the baby warm and reduces body heat loss which results in the baby sleeping more soundly. Research Purposes: To determine the effectiveness of baby massage Virgin Coconut Oil in improving sleep quality in babies aged 1-10 months in PMB K, Pasir Putih Subdistrict, Depok City in 2022. Research Method: The type of research used is Pre Experiment Design using one group pre-posttest control group design. Research results: p-Value is 0.000 < α (0.05), so the H0 data is rejected and Ha is accepted. Conclusion: Baby Massage using Virgin Coconut Oil is effective in improving the sleep quality of babies aged 1-10 months in PMB K, Pasir Putih Village, Depok City in 2022.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract Background: Stunting remains a major health problem in Indonesia. Although the prevalence of stunting in Indonesia has decreased from 37.2% to 21.6% in 2022, this figure still exceeds the WHO threshold of 20%. One major challenge in implementing programs is the number of children who are not reached by nutritional interventions, known as "lost contact." This group is vulnerable to being overlooked and not receiving adequate health services. Purpose: To develop a holistic, family- and village-based intervention model to address stunted children who are "lost contact". Method: This is an operational study using a mixed methods approach. A survey was conducted on 15 stunted children who were "lost contact." Quantitative and qualitative data were collected through in-depth interviews and focus group discussions (FGDs) with mothers, cadres, and village officials. Analysis was descriptive and thematic. Results: The majority of children come from families with low education (40%) and incomes below the minimum wage (UMR) (46.7%). The main factors contributing to "lost contact" are lack of tracking, low maternal awareness, geographical access constraints, and social stigma. Meanwhile, mothers' knowledge of nutrition is generally low to moderate. Conclusion: Addressing stunting with lost contact requires a holistic, community-based approach, including active tracking, contextual education, adaptive logistics distribution, and locally based behavior change campaigns.

Abstract

Background: Breast care is important to maintain hygiene, stimulate breast milk production, and prevent mastitis and abscesses. In addition, body hygiene and a major bath are also necessary to prevent postpartum infections and restore the mother's physical condition. This study aims to provide education on breast care and personal hygiene (major bath) in Islam to postpartum mothers. The success of health interventions can be seen from the decrease in MMR and IMR, where postpartum complications, especially in the breast, are often the cause of maternal death. Purpose: Improving postpartum mothers’ knowledge about personal hygiene (ritual bathing) and breast care in relation to health status. Methods: A total of 32 respondents participated in the study using a Quasi Experimental design with a pre-test and post-test methodology using one group. Paired T-tests were used for univariate and bivariate data analysis. Results: According to the results of the study, the majority of participants were quite knowledgeable about personal hygiene (65.5%) and breast care (59.4%) before receiving education. After education, the knowledge of postpartum mothers increased significantly, with 68.8% having knowledge good.about.maintenance.breast.and.81.3% on personal hygiene. Paired Tests show.mark..p=..0.001 (.p< 0.005.), Which..means..education has a significant influence.towards knowledge..Mother..postpartum... Conclusion:.Care education breast.and.personal..hygiene (major bath) can increase the knowledge of postpartum mothers, help overcome breast problems, support exclusive breastfeeding, prevent postpartum infections, and fulfill Islamic procedures for purification.
