Abstract

This research investigates short-circuit problems in induction motor stators by constructing a motor with a changing winding and leaking flux data. The data is used to evaluate X, Y, and Z axes and map motor waves under normal and abnormal conditions. This study is expected to compare the effectiveness of the observation method from three different axes at the same motor condition to be further helpful in repairing induction motor damage caused by the circuit. From the results of the study, it shows that the harmonic value of the stator current will be more effective than the Y axis with a harmonic amplitude value of -38.8 dB, higher than the harmonic value of the current on the X axis with a difference of 33.89 dB and a difference of 0.32 dB from the Z axis. Suppose the disturbance is measured from the stray harmonic value. In that case, the flux will be more effective than the X axis with a harmonic amplitude value - 25.27 dB, higher than the harmonic value of the flux on the Y axis with a difference of 6.425 and a difference of 4.85 dB from the Z axis.

Abstract

This study aims to determine (1) the implementation of occupational health and safety (OHS) using the Zerosicks method in vocational education and (2) the significant relationship between each aspect of the countenance stake evaluation model. The model consists of 3 stages: input (Antecedent), process (Transaction), and output. Then, the population in this study involved 727 students with a sample size of 258.03, and this research was conducted in April-June 2021 at the Prambanan Muhammadiyah Vocational High School. Furthermore, the data analysis techniques used were quantitative descriptive and SEM (Structural Equation Modeling). The study findings reveal that (1) the antecedent stage, encompassing environment, hazard, risk, knowledge, and standardization indicators, is evaluated as excellent by teachers and predominantly good by students. In the Transaction stage, focusing on risk management control, solution, implementation, and culture indicators, teachers rate it as good to perfect, while students generally rate it as very good to good. Moreover, the output stage, comprising control and OHS behavior awareness indicators, is deemed outstanding by both teachers and students. (2) The indicators of the model are valid and achievable following the results of the confirmatory factor analysis, and the structure of the theoretical model fulfils the Goodness of Fit criteria for empirical data because it has six criteria. Furthermore, an antecedent has a significant effect on Transaction and OHS Output, while a Transaction has a significant effect on OHS Output.

Abstract

The impact of augmented reality (AR) learning tools and students' critical thinking abilities on learning outcomes in electrical engineering education is the focus of this study. The study explores the ways in which these factors, both independently and in combination, influence student performance. Findings reveal that AR-based learning materials significantly enhance understanding and retention across self-directed and guided learning models. Critical thinking skills emerge as a key determinant of success, with students exhibiting strong critical thinking consistently outperforming peers with lower-level skills, regardless of the instructional model. The study also highlights variations in AR tools' effectiveness depending on the learning model and students’ critical thinking abilities. Guided learning with AR tools benefits all students, while self-directed AR tools prove most effective for those with advanced critical thinking skills. Students with lower critical thinking abilities face challenges in navigating less structured AR environments. These results underscore the importance of fostering critical thinking and adopting tailored strategies when integrating AR technology into engineering education. By considering both the learning model and critical thinking levels, educators can optimize AR’s potential to enhance student learning outcomes in technical fields.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of simulation media in problem-based learning on student learning outcomes in Basic Electricity and Electronics. The research problem addresses the low student engagement and learning performance due to conventional teaching methods. The purpose of this study is to compare the effectiveness of Livewire and Proteus simulation media in enhancing students' understanding of direct current circuit analysis. This research employs a quasi-experimental method with a Two-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The study sample consists of 64 tenth-grade students from the Electrical Power Installation Engineering program at SMK Negeri 1 Percut Sei Tuan, divided into two groups: one using Livewire simulation and the other using Proteus simulation in problem-based learning. Data was collected through pretests and posttests, analyzed using t-tests to determine differences in learning improvement. The results reveal that students using Livewire simulation media achieved significantly higher post-test scores (average 80.3) compared to those using Proteus simulation media (average 63.7). These findings suggest that Livewire is more effective in facilitating conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills. The implications highlight the need for integrating technology-based learning tools to enhance vocational education outcomes. Schools and educators should consider incorporating simulation-based learning strategies to improve student engagement and academic performance.

Abstract

Indonesia, with its tropical climate, possesses substantial solar energy potential. However, traditional monitoring of solar power systems in Indonesia still relies on manual observation, making the process inefficient, time-consuming, and prone to error. To address these limitations, this study proposes the design and implementation of a real-time Internet of Things (IoT)-based monitoring system for solar power plants using the Telegram application as the user interface. The system integrates the ESP32 microcontroller and the Pzem-004 T sensor to measure AC electrical parameters, including voltage, current, power, energy, frequency, and power factor. Unlike previous studies that used platforms such as Blynk or ThingSpeak, this research introduces Telegram as an innovative messaging-based monitoring platform, offering greater accessibility, simplicity, and user familiarity. The monitoring system was tested on a single-phase off-grid solar power setup, utilizing five types of household electrical loads, to validate its accuracy and reliability. The ESP32 communicates with the Telegram bot through Wi-Fi, and users can retrieve real-time data via predefined commands. Experimental results demonstrate high measurement accuracy, with average errors of 0.07% for voltage, 0.1% for current, and 0.08% for power. These results confirm that the system provides reliable data transmission and sensor readings. This work contributes a low-cost, efficient, and user-friendly alternative to conventional monitoring systems, particularly for decentralized renewable energy systems in remote or off-grid areas. The integration of Telegram as a communication medium for energy monitoring adds a novel dimension to IoT-based power system applications.

Abstract

Vocational education in Indonesia faces challenges in providing interactive learning that aligns with the demands of Industry 4.0. In addition, students’ low engagement in understanding technical concepts remains a major obstacle to achieving meaningful learning outcomes. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a web-based learning system using the PACTA model in improving student learning outcomes. The research employed a quasi-experimental method with a pre-test and post-test design across two groups: one group used the PACTA system integrated with Augmented Reality (AR) and an AI-based chatbot, while the other group used a conventional web-based learning platform. Results showed that the PACTA group experienced an increase in average score from 45.22 to 63.91 (t = 3.508; p = 0.002) with an effect size of 18.69%, while the conventional group improved from 38.04 to 44.79 (t = 2.273; p = 0.031) with an effect size of 6.75%. Student perception data showed high satisfaction, with effectiveness at 90.67%, ease of use at 88.2%, and accessibility at 85.0%. The findings conclude that the PACTA-based learning system effectively enhances student engagement and understanding and is recommended for broader application in vocational education.
