Abstract

Mathematics learning has a very important role in the educational environment. That one of the competency standards for graduates of the mathematics subject for elementary to secondary education units is so that students have the skills to think and act creatively, productively, critically, independently, collaboratively and communicatively. Based on these graduate competencies, it is clear that one of the thinking skills that students must have is critical thinking. The purpose of this study was to look at students' mathematical critical thinking skills whose learning used the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model through digital teaching materials . This study uses the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE development model which consists of 5 (five) stages, namely: Analysis , Design , and Development , Implementation and Evaluation on MTs . The research subjects were 20 students of class VI I I MTS (twenty) students. Data collection techniques used were walkthroughs, questionnaires, questionnaires, interviews, and tests. Research data were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The results of data analysis are known that this research produces students' critical thinking mathematics for digital teaching materials through a problem-based learning model in a flat sided geometric content that is valid and has potential effects. In this case, mathematics teaching materials that are presented digitally with a problem-based learning approach model are obtained from the results of one-to-one revisions , expert revision, small group trials and large group trials . Furthermore, the prototype of digital teaching materials is in the form of Google sites This is in addition to being effective, efficient, valid and practical, it also has a potential effect to improve students' critical thinking skills in mathematics.

Abstract

One way to improve students' affective and cognitive aspects is through a mathematics learning approach method at school. Achievement of learning objectives (CPL) is demonstrated by the extent to which students have achieved learning objective competencies through a series of criteria or indicators that can be seen from student achievement or learning outcomes. The method in this research uses a non-experimental correlational quantitative research method carried out on class VII students at one of the MTS in Soreang, Kab. Bandung. The aim of this research is to get an idea of how self-confidence influences critical thinking skills or the relationship between critical thinking skills and self-confidence. The results of this research show that the correlation between students' critical thinking skills and self-confidence has a "strong" influence on each other. The conclusion of this research is that Ho is rejected so that Hα is accepted: There is an influence between self-confidence and critical thinking on student achievement or learning outcomes, this means that students' self-confidence and critical thinking greatly influence learning outcomes with the regression model obtained Y = 32.788 + 0.399X1 + 0.391X2 Positive correlation occurs when the two variables are related to the same status (the linear regression coefficient has a positive sign). If one variable increases, the other variable also increases, and vice versa if it decreases.

Abstract

Mathematical reasoning, mathematical communication, mathematical problem solving, conceptual understanding, mathematical understanding, creative thinking and critical thinking are part of the mathematical abilities that students must have. One of the goals of learning mathematics according to NCTM is learning to communicate (mathematical communication). Mathematical communication skills in mathematics learning really need to be developed. This type of research design uses a quasi-experimental research design, namely pretest and post-test with non-equivalent control group design . The research used research subjects into two groups, namely the experimental group and the control group. The subjects of this research were students of class VII I MTs As-Sa'adah Padahanten Majalengka, numbering 64 people. Subjects were selected based on experimental class VIII A, 32 people and control class VIIIB, 32 people. Walkthroughs, questionnaires, and tests are techniques used in data collection. Data processing analysis was carried out qualitatively and quantitatively. The results of this research are that there is a difference in the effectiveness of the Discovery Learning model learning approach with the ordinary (conventional) learning model in terms of the aspects of mathematical communication skills and self-esteem of MTs in statistics material. The implications of the Discovery Learning learning model in this research are that it makes it easy for students to remember the lessons learned, integrate self concept according to their initial abilities, focus, be creative in exploratory projects, and the effect of knowledge transfer on learning outcomes can last a long time.

Abstract

In achieving educational goals, mathematical understanding and connection ability are very important for students. However, the fact is mathematical understanding and connection ability still very low. So, to achieve these learning objectives, a learning approach model is needed to improve students’ mathematical understanding and connection ability. The purpose of this study is to see the improvement of mathematical understanding and connection ability on vocational shool. In order to do so, we used quasi-experimental research by comparing groups with different treatments. One class as experimental using problem based learning model and another class as control using directed learning. We used mathematical understanding and connection ability test to collect the data. The results shows that mathematical understanding and connection ability improved by using problem based learning model. N-Gain for mathematical understanding ability is in high category and mathematical connection ability is in moderate category. Based on the results, we can conclude that problem based learning model can improve mathematical understanding ability and mathematical connection ability.
