Abstract

Science and technology evolved with the times and has very important influence in various aspects of life, one of them is the aspect in education. Utilization of science and technology in education can be applied through innovation in developing learning media. Gamification-based learning media is a game designed as a learning instrument. Gamification is one of the learning media innovations that can be utilized in chemistry learning for increase motivation and student learning outcomes. The writing of this literature review purposed for examining the development of gamification learning media in chemistry learning. The method used in this literature review is narrative literature review by collecting data of article related to gamification learning media that published within a period 2014-2023. Data analysis is carried using an simplified approach. The articles used in this literature review were 51 articles from accredited national and international journals obtained from Google Scholar. Based on the result of the literature review, it was found that gamification learning media can increase student motivation in chemistry learning. Gamification can also motivate teacher to innovate in creating learning media that can interest student. Therefore, gamification can be a new trend in chemistry learning. Keywords: gamification; chemistry learning media; education game

Abstract

Direct dyes are synthetic dyes of the azo group which can quickly absorb on cellulose fibers and are capable of producing long-lasting quality printing dyes, so they are widely used in the textile industry. However, the waste originating from the dyeing process containing synthetic dyes is difficult to degrade naturally so it will cause environmental pollution. This study aims to degrade red direct dyes by electrolysis using PbO2/Pb electrodes from used batteries. This research was carried out by electrolyzing red direct dye solutions at various work potentials, variations in Na2SO4 concentrations, variations in electrolysis time, and variations in concentrations of red direct dyes. The absorbance of the direct dye solution before and after electrolysis was measured using a UV-VIS spectrophotometer at a wavelength of 550 nm. The results showed that the optimum working potential was 8 volts, the optimum concentration of 0,2 M Na2SO4 and the optimum electrolysis time was 65 minutes. At the optimum working potential, time and concentration of Na2SO4, an increase in the red direct solution concentration will decrease the percentage of decolorization.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the implementation of integrated PBL-STEAM ethno-science to train the creative thinking skills of eleventh-grade students at SMA Negeri 4 Samarinda on the topic of acids and bases, specifically the theory and indicators of acids and bases. This study employs a Quasi-Experimental design with a Posttest Only Control Design type. The population in this research consists of all eleventh-grade students at SMA Negeri 4 Samarinda for the academic year 2023/2024. Sampling was conducted using cluster random sampling techniques. The instrument used to measure students' creative thinking is a post-test questionnaire. Data analysis was performed using a t-test, which yielded a significance (2-tailed) of 0,017 < 0,050 for both classes, indicating that Ha is accepted, with the statement that there is an implementation of integrated PBL-STEAM ethno-science on students' creative thinking skills regarding the topic of acids and bases, specifically the theory and indicators of acids and bases. Keywords : PBL-STEAM, Ethnoscience, Creative Thinking
