Abstract

The use of limonite and saprolite nickel ore with low Ni content as raw material for the manufacture of FeNi metal with a content of> 5% Ni has not been widely used. This is because to process limonite and saprolite ore into high levels of FeNi concentrate, it requires greater energy. The purpose of this study was to see the beneficiation process of low grade laterite nickel ore (limonite type, with 1-2% Ni content) at low temperature and holding time with graphite reducing agents and adding additives to iron nickel concentrate and nickel iron concentrates with nickel content above 5%. The method used in this research is to provide services with temperature variations of 250°C, 300°C, and 350°C with a holding time of 60 minutes and 90 minutes in the heat process stage 1 and continued in the heat process stage 2, namely at a temperature of 1150°C with a holding time of 60 minutes. The concentrates and tailings resulted from magnetic separation were then subjected to XRF testing and optical microscopy. With the erasing process and the holding time, the nickel content was quite high, namely 5-6%. With this, it can be neglected that the beneficiation process with this method is very effective and optimal. The levels of Fe in the concentrate obtained from several tests have increased and decreased with the addition of temperature and holding time.

Abstract

Cold storage merupakan perangkat refrigerasi untuk menyimpan produk dengan suhu tertentu dengan tujuan agar kualitasnya dapat terjaga dalam waktu yang lebih lama. Cold storage yang berada dipasaran saat ini dijual dengan harga yang relatif mahal, menggunakan listrik tiga phase, menggunakan konsumsi listrik yang tinggi. Bila dilihat dari karakter kebutuhan cold storage di sebagian masyarakat Indonesia yang mayoritas di Desa , kita mengetahui masih menggunakan daya listrik di bawah 6600 VA artinya adalah listrik satu phase dan penggunaan untuk prduksi umkm misal pupuk cair, sayur mayur, dan buah dengan penggunaan musiman dimana dari sisi ke ekonomian masyarakat bawah belum memadai apabila menggunakan cold storage pabrikan yang berada di pasaran saat ini. Kalaupun dipaksakan diberikan bantuan maka harus mengganti spesifikasi meteran listrik yang implikasinya kepada tarif listrik pasca bayar yang memberatkan operasional apabila cold storage tidak rutin terpakai. Sehingga dari permasalahan tersebut penulis melakukan rancang bangun cold storage yang menggunakan listrik satu phase dengan cara memanfaatkan mesin refrigerasi dari perangkat Air Conditioner jenis Wall Mounted (Split Wall) menggunakan refrigerant R22 sebanyak 1,8kg kapasitas 18.000 Btu dengan listrik satu phase voltase 220Volt frekwensi 50Hz dan arus listrik maksimal 10 Ampere, sehingga di spesifikasi ini masih bisa menggunakan pra bayar. Ukuran ruangan adalah tinggi 2000mm lebar 2000mm dan panjang 4000mm dengan pintu loading tinggi 1600mm dan lebar 600mm. Material kerangka menggunakan besi hollow 400mm x 600mm sedangkan isolator menggunakan bahan Polyurethane Panel (PU) 100mm yang diperkuat dengan lapisan luar outdoor adalah plat Poly Vinyl Chloride (PVC) 8mm dan lapisan dalam indoor adalah multiplek 9mm dilapisi PVC 8mm. Cold Storage dilengkapi dengan sensor suhu untuk mengontrol suhu dalam ruangan sesuai peruntukannya, dan defrost untuk mengontrol evaporator agar terbebas dari bunga bunga es. Dari data empiris didapatkan suhu yang dapat dicapai disekitar evaporator maksimal sebesar -4 derajad celciuss dalam waktu 51 menit, ini mengindikasikan bahwa cold storage dapat dipakai untuk buah dan sayur dimana hanya membutuhkan suhu di sekitar 12 derajad celcius.

Abstract

Surface roughness resulting from the machining process is an important part in determining the quality of the workpiece. In an effort to increase effectiveness and quality in making products using the lathe process, research to determine the surface roughness value of the lathe process is very necessary. In this research, the lathe process was carried out by setting variations in spindle speed and variations in feed motion and a fixed cutting depth of 0.5 mm. The spindle speeds used are 370 rpm, 540 rpm & 800 rpm. Meanwhile, the feed speed used is 0.05 mm/rev, 0.10 mm/rev & 0.20 mm/rev, so the feed speed used in this research is 18.5 mm/minute, 27 mm/minute, 40 mm /minute, 80 mm/minute & 160 mm/minute. This research uses ASSAB 709/SCM 440 material because this material is a medium alloy steel which is often used to make spare parts for both industrial and automotive machines but its application requires different roughness values - different. In this study, the surface roughness value resulting from the turning process from variations in feed speed & machine spindle speed was measured using a Mitutoyo SJ 210 roughness measuring instrument.The results of the lathe process with variations in feed speed & machine spindle speed using ASSAB 709/ SCM 440 material which were measured using the Mitutoyo SJ 210 surface roughness tester, the best average roughness value obtained was 0.354 Ra or the equivalent of N5 using the spindle rotation speed parameter 800 rpm and feed speed 40 mm/minute

Abstract

Superheater is one of the main parts of the boiler. One of the problems that often occurs in the superheater screen tube is that the screen bends due to exposure to high temperatures which causes the screen tube to deform. The aging phenomenon (decarburization) will occur over time the tube is operated, affecting the mechanical properties of the tube material, especially its hardness. The research objectives achieved are to determine the actual conditions, feasibility and remaining life of the superheater screen tube experiencing bending. Based on these conditions, it is necessary to conduct testing on the superheater screen tube that has been operating for approximately 11 years (96360 hours) until now. The method used is to conduct direct, macro and micro examinations on the condition of the screen tube that is bending. In situ metallographic testing on each superheater screen tube is carried out to determine the degradation of the high temperature effect during operation. In addition to in situ testing, metallographic testing in the laboratory is used to analyze the microstructure of the tube material during operation. Hardness testing, the chemical composition of the tube material is also carried out as a support in the process of calculating the remaining life using the Larson Miller Parameter (LMP) approach. From the test, the results showed that the condition of the screen tube that was bending was still suitable for use in accordance with the applicable SOP. In terms of microstructure, the superheater screen tube has experienced aging (decarburization) with a decrease in hardness value when compared to the hardness of the normal tube (166 HV). If operated properly, the superheater screen tube that is bending can be operated for up to 2 years and 8 months if the Turn Around (TA) program is not carried out until a replacement tube is available for 2 years and 10 months, still below the temperature (6200 C) or below the design temperature.
