Abstract

Gender equality constructed through the culture of the Kajang Tribe in Bulukumba is very interesting to watch because, generally, in other societies it is hierarchical (patriarchal). Culture provides a large space for women's involvement in the Andingingi Ritual. The implementation is always coupled with the Bulukumba cultural festival which is attended by various groups and tourists. This study aims to determine the process of externalization, objectification and internalization of women in the Andingingi Ritual. This research was carried out using a qualitative approach with the case study method. Data collection was carried out using observation, interviews, and documentation techniques. Data analysis techniques are carried out by reducing data, presenting data and drawing conclusions. The research informants consisted of traditional leaders (Ammatoa), traditional stakeholders (Galla), the Kajang community and the village government. The results of this study indicate that the externalization of women's roles in the Andingingi ritual process, including A'runding (ritual preparation meetings), Appalenteng Ere (moving holy water to the ritual location), Drinking Tuak (drinking blessings), Abbebese (sprinking holy water around the four corners cardinal points), Bacca Or Mabarra' (gluing Bacca to the forehead and neck), Allabiang Dedde (gathering all the produce of the garden to be blessed by Ammatoa) and giving pap Pasang. Its objectivity can be seen from the habits that have been institutionalised by society. Women are starting to pay attention to feedback from the activities they carry out based on the results of their social interactions, for example the role played by women during ritual preparation to completion. Although internalisation can be seen from the acceptance of social values contained in each ritual activity, including the value of Gotong Royong, Mutual help, Solidarity, and Communicative values.

Abstract

This study seeks to ascertain not just the economic repercussions of industrialization on the Mimika tribe in Papua Province, but also how these transformations are altering social and institutional dynamics, notably in terms of traditional leadership. This research was conducted from January 2024 to March 2024 focusing on the Comorian District, especially the Komoro Mimiko Tribe, Papua Province. The data collection techniques used in this study are in-depth interviews with members of the Comoro District, particularly the Comojima tribe, indigenous leaders, industrial workers, and other stakeholders, participatory observation, and holding FGDs with Komoria community groups. The results show that there has been a change in cultural values and traditions stemming from engagement with modern elements. Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) prioritizing cultural and ecological diversity advocate for the rights of indigenous communities. Conversely, governmental entities adopt a pragmatic stance, viewing modernization as integral to economic advancement. However, they also acknowledge the significance of preserving cultural sustainability and indigenous rights. To this end, they formulate policies facilitating the harmonization of modernities with traditional practices. The interaction between tradition and modernity sees complexity as well as divergence of views among various stakeholders. In general, these results underscore the difficulties and possibilities associated with striking a balance between modernization and indigenous traditions.

Abstract

Social networks are able to open opportunities for fishing communities to expand production both internally and externally. However, various economic problems are still a challenge faced by fishing community groups. This study presents the strategy of community social networks in strengthening bonds and expanding production markets. The method used refers to Walker and Avant (2014). Social network analysis is based on research writings that have been published in the timeframe between 2010 and 2022. The data based used is Google Scholar and Doaj. The results of the analysis show that the concept of social network has nine attributes, namely interaction network, engagement networks, social capital, coastal community resilience, exposed coastal community, social network, social linking, social knowledge networks, and community cohesion. Based on these attributes, two social networks of fishing communities were created, namely ties and networks density. Ties in fishing communities are patterns of individual or community relations as group strengthening on the internal or micro scale. Network density in fishing communities is the pattern of group relations as organizational strengthening on the external scope or the meso and macro scale.
