Abstract

Tingkat berpikir geometri menggambarkan pemahaman siswa terhadap konsep-konsep geometri. Pemahaman tersebut berpengaruh terhadap kemampuannya dalam memecahkan masalah-masalah geometri. Van Hiele membagi kemampuan geometri menjadi tingkat 0 (Visualisasi), 1 (Analisis), 2 (Deduksi Informal), 3 (Deduksi) atau 4 (Rigor). Guru seharusnya membantu siswa untuk meningkatkan tingkat kemampuan geometrinya dari satu tingkat ke tingkat yang lebih tinggi. Langkah awalnya adalah guru mengidentifikasi tingkat kemampuan geometri siswa saat ini. Caranya dengan memberikan soal yang berkaitan dengan setiap tingkat. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan kemampuan geometri siswa-siswa SMP kelas VII dari salah satu sekolah di kota Palangka Raya berdasarkan teori Van Hiele. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 97,2% siswa memiliki kemampuan tingkat 0 dan 2,8% siswa memiliki tingkat 1. Lebih lanjut, peneliti juga menguraikan jawaban-jawaban siswa di setiap tingkatan dan adanya tingkat transisi dari 0 ke 1 (tingkat pra-Analisis) dan dari 1 ke 2 (tingkat pra-Deduksi Informal).Kata kunci: Tingkat Berpikir Geometri Siswa SMP, Teori Van Hiele, Pra-Analisis, Pra-Deduksi Informal.

Abstract

Abstrak: Pemecahan masalah matematika adalah tujuan utama siswa belajar matematika dalam kelas. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan kemampuan siswa-siswa kelas X MIA dari salah satu SMA Negeri di kota Palangka Raya, Kalimantan Tengah dalam memecahkan masalah-masalah matematika pada materi SPLTV (Sistem Persamaan Linear Tiga Variabel). Instrumen penelitiannya adalah satu masalah matematika dan satu soal rutin. Masalah matematika adalah soal tidak rutin dimana cara penyelesaiannya tidak segera dapat dilihat oleh siswa. Soal rutin adalah soal yang yang jawabannya dapat diperoleh dengan menerapkan secara langsung rumus atau prosedur tertentu. Instrumen tersebut dibagikan ke semua subjek penelitian. Subjeknya adalah 32 siswa kelas X MIA yang terdiri dari 13 laki-laki dan 19 perempuan. Setiap penyelesaian siswa diskor menggunakan rubrik holistik. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ada 3,1% siswa yang tergolong pemecah masalah yang kurang berpengalaman, 96,9% tergolong pemecah masalah yang rutin, dan tidak ada siswa yang tergolong pemecah masalah yang baik. Ini berarti tidak ada siswa menulis penyelesaian yang benar. Hal tersebut terjadi pada siswa-siswa yang memiliki maupun yang tidak memiliki pengetahuan prosedural mengenai cara menyelesaikan SPLTV. Kata kunci:   masalah matematika, pemecahan masalah, pemecah masalah, sistem persamaan linear tiga variabel

Abstract

Problem solving is important for mathematical learning because it enables students to enhance high thinking skills and positive attitudes. This research aimed at describing and comparing the abilities of junior high school students in grade VIII from one of the regencies/cities in Central Kalimantan (Indonesia) in solving mathematical problems based on schools’ accreditations (A, B, C, and unaccredited), and schools’ status (public and private). The researcher gave three mathematical problems to the students from 20 samples of schools. The schools were randomly selected from the population consisting of 62 junior high schools. Each student’s solution was scored using a holistic rubric. The scores were summarized using some statistics represented in tables and graphics and were analyzed using a Kruskal-Wallis nonparametric test because the data were not normally distributed. The finding indicated that the average scores of the public and private schools’ students were 4.71 and 3.49 (scale 0-12), respectively. Based on the percentages, namely 1.91% and 39.66%, the students were classified as good and naive problem solvers, respectively. Further test revealed that the students from the A-accredited public schools significantly achieved the highest score for problem solving skills. Meanwhile, the students in the A-accredited and the unaccredited private schools did not show a significant difference in the skills. Similar result was also found in the public schools which were accredited B and C, and unaccredited.

Abstract

Students have ability to analyze data if they practiced to solved problems/projects that are related to analyzed and made conclusion from research data. The aim of this research was to develop the students worksheets of data analysis based on the problems and projects that can help students to have ability analysis research data. The development of the students worksheets used Plomps stages. Results of students workshets implementation showed that those can help: students to have meaningful understanding, like the analysis data lecture, have motivated individually to learned concepts of data analysis and solved the problems and projects in students worksheets, actived in learning process, and had ability to analyzed data by Minitab and Microsoft Excel. Mahasiswa dapat memiliki kemampuan menganalisis data jika mahasiswa berlatih menyelesaikan masalah dan proyek yang berkaitan dengan cara menganalisis dan menarik kesimpulan dari data penelitian. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengembangkan Lembar Kerja Mahasiswa. Analisis Data berbasis masalah dan proyek yang dapat membantu mahasiswa memiliki kemampuan dalam menganalisis data penelitian. Pengembangan Lembar Kerja Mahasiswa ini menggunakan tahap-tahap Plomp. Subjek penelitiannya adalah 24 mahasiswa Pendidikan Matematika Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan Universitas Palangka Raya. Hasil implementasi menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan Lembar Kerja Mahasiswa dapat mendorong mahasiswa untuk: memiliki pengetahuan bermakna, (b) menyenangi matakuliah Analisis Data dan metode belajar yang digunakannya, termotivasi untuk belajar dan menyelesaikan masalah dan proyek dalam Lembar Kerja Mahasiswa secara mandiri, aktif selama perkuliahan, dan memiliki kemampuan dalam menganalisis data menggunakan Minitab dan Microsoft Excel.

Abstract

Recently, the phenomenon of the tutorial activities in mathematics class shown that the tutee still passive and just tended to accept tutor explanations. It made mathematics was considered as a difficult subject. Based on this reason, the authors conducted research on tutorial focused to improvement the studentsabilities in Pengantar Statistika I dan II by using explorative discussion that emphasizes on the metacognitive knowledge level. The subjects are S1-PGSD students at second semester in Sidoarjo. The research is conducted in two cycles and shown that the use of the explorative discussion method that emphasizes on the metacognitive knowledge level is able to increase of the students understanding and independence.

Abstract

The research refined the theories of students’ characteristics in solving mathematical problems and constructed a holistic understanding of their problem-solving behaviors. It aimed at describing the problem-solving behaviors of a routine problem solver. The routine bridged the gap between the expert and the novice. This research used a qualitative approach which was carried out in six stages. The research participant was Rina (female, pseudonym), one of the 11th-grade students from one of the high schools in Palangka Raya City, Central Kalimantan, Indonesia. The selection of the participant was based on certain criteria. The instruments were three mathematics problems and semi-structured interviews. The trustworthiness of the research was fulfilled through credibility, dependability, and transferability checking. The results showed that the routine could understand problems and was able to identify the known and the target. The routine only focused on developing a plan which was based on a lack of concepts, limited previous experiences, or limited strategies. Problem-solving behaviors of the routine were between the expert and the novice.

Abstract

Online learning has its perks and challenges to student learning outcomes. This study aims to develop educational products that meet the validity, effectiveness, and practicality criteria in the form of scrapbooks and videos on Tu web (Web-based Tutorial) for the Statistics Education course to tackle these negative impacts. In this developmental research, field tests were conducted on 83 Open University students from three different study groups in East Java. The development stages started from planning, exploratory studies, initial product development, expert validation, and initial field tests had been carried out in the previous year. The instruments used in this research are Tutorial Activity Design, Tutorial Activity Unit, scrapbook, video, student response questionnaire, and final test. The results showed that students responded positively to the use of these products in the Tuweb of Statistics Education courses. Since all students solved problems in the scrapbook, the product met the practicality criteria. Furthermore, the average student learning outcomes were 82.17 with a minimum of 70, better than students who did not participate in the study. Therefore, these products met the effectiveness criteria. As the research has demonstrated, the scrapbooks and videos developed can improve student learning outcomes in the Statistics Education course.

Abstract

This study aims to describe students' mathematical communication abilities in writing and orally and to find out the factors causing the low mathematical communication skills of students in one of the Palangka Raya High Schools. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. This research was conducted in the odd semester of the 2022/2023 academic year. The subjects of this study were students of class X-MIPA 4 at the school. To find out the factors causing the low ability of students' mathematical communication, 2 students were selected from each category of students' ability to be interviewed. Data collection techniques using written and oral tests and interviews. The results showed that students' mathematical communication abilities in the exponential function material in this class were moderate. Internal factors that cause low students' mathematical communication skills are: 1) Knowledge: Students cannot explain exponential functions, 2) Understanding: Lack of students' ability to understand the intent of the questions and content of the material so that students cannot solve the questions given, 3) Application: lack of students' ability to apply formulas related to exponential functions.

Abstract

This research against the background of mathematics learning outcomes of students who are still relatively low, lack of learning independence, and mathematical learning facilities that are still not optimally used. This study aims to determine the correlation between learning independence and learning facilities with the learning outcomes of Mathematics for Class 8th grade students of SMPN 2 Palangka Raya. The approach used in this research is the quantitative approach with the correlational research type. This research was conducted in the even semester of the academic year 2022/2023. The population in this study were students of class 8th grade SMPN 2 Palangka Raya in the academic year 2022/2023 with the total of population are 352 students and the research samples of 196 students. The results of this study are: (1) there is a significant positive correlation between learning independence and mathematical learning outcomes with very low correlation criteria ( ); (2) there is no significant positive correlation between learning facilities and mathematics learning outcomes ( ); (3) There is a significant positive correlation between learning independence and learning facilities with mathematical learning outcomes with low correlation criteria (0,22767).

Abstract

This PkM activity aims to accompany teaching and learning activities at LPKA targeting assisted students who are serving a prison term so they cannot go to school like their peers. Based on data from interviews with one of the sources who is the Person in Charge of the Development Division of LPKA Tjilik Riwut, Central Kalimantan, it is stated that child conflict -The majority of children serving criminal terms are perpetrators of sexual abuse, murder, and several children are involved in theft cases. PkM activities last for 3 months with a total of 7 learning meetings with a total number of students varying from 27 – 35 students each week. Each meeting is filled with mathematics learning that is appropriate to the context of daily life on number operations; distance, speed, time; social arithmetic; and the volume of the space. Learning about local culture is also provided by introducing each district in Central Kalimantan. The good response given by the LPKA and the assisted students who felt the benefits of the PkM program stated that this program was truly called Devotion because the LPKA felt helped in fulfilling the learning materials and the assisted students also felt happy taking part in the learning.
