Abstract

Abstract. The ability of radar signals to penetrate cloud is one advantage to be used in tropical regionto monitor objects on the surface from the space. Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) is onetechnique in radar remote sensing that can be utilized for marine applications such as surfacewaves monitoring, ocean current circulation detection, oil slick monitoring and shipdetection. In order to assess the ability of SAR technique for ship detection, we analyze SARdata acquired by full polarimetric and interferometric airborne SAR in L-band type-2 (Pi-SARL2) from Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA). This research explains the strategy inSAR data processing for ship detection application in Lembeh Strait, North Sulawesi Sea. It isfound that long wavelength i.e. L-band is able to identify ships on the sea with incidence angleof radar beam greater then 50 degree gives the best signal clutter ratio between signal fromthe ship to sea clutter variation. The identification includes the size estimation and thelocation. Horizontal-Horizontal (HH) polarization can identify ships clearer in calm seacondition, whereas Horizontal-Vertical (HV) polarization is better in severe sea condition. However, it is difficult to estimate the speed of moving ships on the sea and the shipsmaterial. It is also found that by combining SAR data with VMS (Vessel Monitoring System)data it is possible to identify ships without VMS and useful for improving security issue inmarine sector. Keywords: SAR, ship detection, polarization, VMS

Abstract

Kata Kunci : InSAR, Interferometri Deferensial, Semburan Lumpur, Deformasi LahanABSTRACTThe mud flow in Sidorajo, East Java has caused land deformation. This research focused on assessing the ability of differential InSAR to detect the land deformation related to the mud volcano. Seven ALOS-PALSAR data, which were obtained on August 2007 until January 2009 were processed based on 2-pass differential InSAR. The deformation were enhanced on the image using Median Spatial Filtering technique. It is shown that the deformed areas have expanded to the north as uplifted area and to the west as subsided area. The deformed area has been identified since the first observation. However, the magnitude of vertical deformation in this area has increased time by time. Meanwhile, the subsidence has increased from 5 - 16 centimeters in 17 months. The vertical deformation derived from InSAR was used to model the possible mechanism of land deformation in this region. The result shows that the fringes pattern is differ between the long-term and shorterm data analysis. The fringes pattern from long-term data analysis indicates a combination between faulting and dyke mechanism. Whereas, the fringes pattern derived from the shortterm data analysis indicates point source dislocation. Keywords : InSAR, Differential Interferometry, Mud Volcano, Land Deformation

Abstract

Monitoring of SO2 Gas Concentration Around Mount Sinabung Using Sentinel-5 Precursor Satellite Imagery Abstract. Mount Sinabung is a mountain type A that is still active. Mount Sinabung is located in North Sumatra Province, Karo Regency. Mount Sinabung eruption does affect not only the region but also the area around the mountain. One of the substances that were sprayed by the volcano during the outbreak was SO2 gas. SO2 gas is an essential parameter for determining air quality. SO2 gas is in the atmosphere through a natural process and anthropogenic process. The data of SO2 gas was obtained by utilizing the Sentinel-5P record results. Data Sentinel-5P was processed and analyzed to be able to determine the SO2 gas concentration in the area surrounding Mount Sinabung and also changes in the SO2 gas concentrations in several areas. In general, the highest SO2 gas concentration was at the crater of Mount Sinabung. However, on 22 July 2019, the SO2 gas concentrations in Deli Serdang Regency were higher, around 75% of SO2 gas concentrations in the crater area. This research may also indicate that Sentinel-5P data can be used to monitor gas in the atmosphere. Keywords: Mount Sinabung; Eruption; SO2; air quality; Sentinel-5P.

Abstract

Variations of Nitrogen Dioxide Emissions during Large Scale Social Restrictions in West Java Province from Sentinel-5P Satellite Data Processing Abstract. Sentinel-5P satellite that was launched in 2017 by ESA has a mission to monitor the earth’s atmosphere. One product of Sentinel-5P mission is the distribution of troposphere column density for several gases including nitrogen dioxide (NO2). NO2 emission is related to fossil fuel combustion from human activities such as factories and vehicle emissions. In 2020, COVID-19 is spreading all over the world including Indonesia. To break the chain of its distribution, therefore, the Indonesian Government enacts large scale social restriction (PSBB) in several areas including West Java Province. Sentinel-5P data was processed and analyzed to see the variations of changes in NO2 emission in several sampled cities in West Java. It is found that the NO2 emissions have decreased during PSBB. However, before Idul Fitri event on May 18, 2020, shows that the NO2 emission at Bandung Cities, Bandung District, and Bogor District increase significantly up to six-time higher. This activity also shows that daily information from Sentinel-5P satellite can be used for monitoring gases in the atmosphere.

Abstract

The concept of dramaturgy focuses on social life as a dramatic performance with the strategy of creating an appealing image for the public. The purpose of this research is to examine the roles and challenges of using dramaturgy in selecting an ideal leader. This research uses qualitative methods. Informants in this study consist of community figures, traditional leaders, and legislative candidates in Mancani Village. Data collection through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques applied include data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results show that dramaturgy in leadership selection can reveal aspects of leaders that may not be apparent through their vision and mission, build attractiveness towards leaders in the eyes of the public, and effectively package political messages to create a convincing image. However, challenges in implementing dramaturgy include maintaining the authentic identity of a leader, difficulty in distinguishing between genuine character and constructed imagery, and diverse expectations from the community towards their leaders. Therefore, leaders must maintain their integrity and authentic identity in fulfilling their leadership roles. This helps them meet the expectations of the people they lead and maintain the trust that has been established.
