Abstract

This study aims (1) to obtain information about the conditions of the availability andadequacy of Elementary School (ES) teachers in Sleman Regency in terms of thenumber, academic qualification, and competence, and (2) to find out the distributionpatterns. This study was an evaluation study employing the document analysis. Theevaluation steps included: (1) setting the standard for the adequacy of the number ofteachers, (2) setting the index of the adequacy of teachers, and (3) analyzing theavailability and adequacy of teachers using the quantitative descriptive method. Theresults of the evaluation show that the availability of teachers is more than theminimum number, being excessive approximately 39%, and availability of teachers interms of academic qualification and competence meets only 43% and 14% of theminimum number of teachers. Besides, the information shows that the distribution ofthe number of teachers is not proportional to that of the number of students.Kata kunci: evaluasi, kecukupan, guruSD

Abstract

The study was aimed at improving the ability to read a poem for year VIIF students ofState Junior High School 1 of Mojolaban Sukoharjo through modeling. The study wasan action research. The data were gathered through observation, interview, andperformance test. The reasearch was conducted in three cycles. Each cycle consistedof four stages: (1) planning, (2) action, (3) observation, (4) analysis and reflection. Itwas revealed that students ability in reading a poem improved. The performanceindicator was 50%-80% for score = 75. In cycle I, the mean score was 66.08 with12.5% passing grade. In cycle II, the mean was 74.12 with 47.5% passing grade. Incycle III, the mean was 79.25 with 77.5% passing grade.Kata kunci:modelling,membaca puisi, penelitian tindakan kelas

Abstract

Semakin derasnya arus globalisasi telah menimbulkan masalah sosial, ekonomi, dan politik yang semakin kompleksdan bersifat mengglobal, sehingga pemecahannya memerlukan tindakan bersama antar bangsa dan melibatkanmasyarakat dunia. Pembelajaran IPS bidang studi geografi haruslah dapat membantu para siswa mengembangkankemampuan membuat keputusan-keputusan yang bersifat reflektif sehingga mereka mampu memecahkan masalahmasalahyang bersifat pribadi (individual) maupun sosial. Untuk membekali para siswa agar memiliki kemampuanmemecahkan masalah-masalah pribadi maupun sosial, maka dalam pembelajaran IPS bidang studi geografi perlumenerapkan strategi pembelajaran yang dapat memberikan kemampuan memecahkan masalah kepada para siswasecara individual.Pendekatan inkuiri adalah salah satu cara untuk mengembangkan kemampuan berfikir dan mengatasi masalahkebosanan siswa dalam belajar di kelas karena proses belajar lebih berpusat kepada kebutuhan siswa (studentcenteredinstruction) daripada kepada guru (teacher-centered instruction). Pendekatan ini memiliki keunggulanterutama untuk mengembangkan kemampuan berfikir maupun pengetahuan, sikap dan nilai peserta didik dibandingdengan pendekatan klasikal atau tradisional. Dalam rangka meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran IPS khususnyaBidang Studi Geografi di sekolah-sekolah maka gagasan dan ide baru ini perlu diujicobakan.

Abstract

Condition of Indonesian character today is quite apprehensive, therefore, the government has take initiatives to prioritize the nation’s character development, both formal education in schools and other social institutions like government institutions, politics, society, families, businesses, NGOs and mass media. The progress of transportation an communication has brought fundamental change in our society, such as from closed societies to open societies, space and social interaction becomes more opened and globalize. In other side, globalize of social interaction can increace the horizon of life and welfare society, while it can couse the entry of foreign ideology and culture that confict with cultural values and character of Indonesia. Therefore, in order to build the character of the nation and screening the entry of foreign culture needed synergistic cooperation between various social and educational institutions, both formal and non formal.
