Abstract

Strengthening character education through biology learning is a form of educator action that integrates character education values in planning, implementing, and evaluating biology learning which is carried out intentionally and continuously to strengthen the character values of students. This study aims to develop a character education-oriented biology learning tool and test its effectiveness on understanding character values and mastery of biology concepts for high school students in West Lombok Regency. The method used is a mixed research method, namely development research methods to develop character education-oriented biology learning tools, and experimental methods to test the effectiveness of applying learning tools to understanding character values and mastering biology concepts for high school students. The research sample amounted to 270 students who were determined by purposive random sampling technique. Data collection used research instruments in the form of expert validation sheets, feasibility assessment sheets, tests for understanding the values of character education, and tests for understanding student concepts. The results showed that the character education-oriented biology learning tools were very valid and suitable for use in biology learning in high school. The results of the different concept mastery test are the mean score of the experimental class 69.78; and the mean score of the control class is 65.66 with a mean difference of 2.66. The results of the different test with the t test showed that there was no significant difference between the two mean scores. The results of the different test of understanding the values of students' character education using the t-test obtained a mean experimental class score of 72.76; and the mean score of the control class is 70.10; means difference 2.66. Based on the t value, it was obtained that the mean scores of the experimental class and the mean scores of the control class were not significantly different

Abstract

Secondary metabolites were needed by researchers as raw materials for drugs, raw materials for the synthesis of target molecules, bioactive compounds, and model compounds. But until now, there were no producers that supply secondary metabolite compounds in Indonesia, so it is very difficult to find them in the domestic market. The need for secondary metabolite compounds has been purchased from abroad at very high prices. On the other hand, Indonesia has a lot of plant diversity which is the source of secondary metabolite compounds. Modification of several procedures for isolation of secondary metabolites has been carried out in the framework of the production of secondary metabolites.

Abstract

Scientific literacy is very important in determining the quality of education in a country. The importance of scientific literacy for students because it can invite students to understand the environment, health, economy and many other problems facing modern society. This study aim to develop an integrated science teaching material with guided inquiry model that appropriate to improve students' scientific literacy. This research is a development research using the Dick & Carey model. In addition to developing science teaching materials, this research also develops syllabus, lesson plans, and scientific literacy instruments. This research was conducted in one of the NW MTs in West Lombok Regency. The validation of learning products was carried out by three validators, media experts and material experts. Expert validation data analysis was carried out using the Pearson validation formula. The results of the feasibility study of integrated science teaching materials using guided inquiry models obtained an average value of 94% with very valid criteria. The syllabus got an average score of 87%, lesson plans got an average score of 92%, and the scientific literacy instrument got an average score of 82%. In conclusion, the product of integrated science teaching materials with guided inquiry models is feasible to be implemented in learning process.

Abstract

The development of entrepreneurial literacy is crucial for students to prepare themselves to benefit from the current development of the Mandalika Lombok Special Economic Zone (SEZ). The purpose of this study is to develop a project-based science module focusing on biopreneurship to enhance students' entrepreneurial literacy. This research is a development study that adopts the Dick and Carey model. The research data consist of a description of the development of the science module and its theoretical feasibility. The feasibility of the science module is analyzed using Aiken’s V formula. The research results indicate that the expert assessment of the feasibility of the biopreneurship-based project-based science module shows a percentage of 77.3% in the category of being suitable for use. Meanwhile, the biopreneurship project worksheets have a percentage of 73.9% in the category of being suitable for use. Additionally, the learning steps have a percentage of 80.0% in the category of being suitable for use in teaching and learning. The conclusion of this study is that the development of the project-based biopreneurship science module can be effectivelyi used to enhance students' entrepreneurial literacy.

Abstract

Communication skills and collaboration skills are two of the 21st century soft skills that are very important to be mastered by prospective biology teacher students. Therefore, it is necessary to design learning that is oriented towards empowering these skills. This study aims to develop a learning design based on information processing theory, and to test its effectiveness on the communication skills and collaboration skills of prospective biology teacher students at the FKIP, Mataram University. This study is a development research whose procedure uses the ADDIE development research model. The product produced in this study is a learning design based on information processing theory consisting of RPS, RTM and Student Learning Journals. The results of the validation by biology learning experts stated that the learning design was declared valid. The results of the learning design effectiveness test showed that the application of learning design in the biology learning strategy course was effective for communication skills, collaboration skills, and students' understanding of concepts. Based on the validation results, and the effectiveness test of the application of learning design, it can be stated that learning design based on information processing theory can be used as one of the innovative learning designs that is oriented towards strengthening soft skills, especially for students' communication skills and collaboration skills

Abstract

The problem-based learning (PBL) model is a form of learning that emphasizes the learning process and developing problem-solving skills. The low level of environmental awareness is increasingly worrying. Ecological awareness, in this case ecotourism, is decreasing along with technological developments. For this reason, scientific literacy and environmental awareness are needed, especially in character formation. This article research conducted a systematic literature review using PRISMA approach, namely carrying out a synthesis of studies from articles on the theme of the ecotourism-integrated problem-based learning (PBL) model to increase scientific literacy and environmental awareness. The articles used in this paper are from Google Scholar, scopus and science direct with the application of proportional sampling techniques, 15 of the 72 articles that meet the inclusion criteria, the year of publication between 2020 until 2024, the languages used are Indonesian and English, the research subject is Problem-Based Learning (PBL). The research results show that PBL has positive potential in increasing scientific literacy and environmental awareness. Both the use of the PBL model directly and with integration show an increase in scientific literacy and concern for the environment
