The results of statistic test with Partial Least Square showed that all indicators and constructs variable were valid and significant. the significance test using structural model (t > 1,96), showed that the students' characteristics affected the observation factor, thinking process, and experiential clinical learning. The variable of observation factor affected the thinking process and learning behaviors. The variable of thinking process affected learning behaviors. The variable of learning behaviors affected experiential clinical learning. In addition, the variable of experiential clinical learning influenced the outcomes of clinical learning in emergency nursing in ners students. Experiential clinical learning model is categorized as a good model and has a prediction value if applied can improve learning achievement of clinical learning in emergency nursing in ners students. The dominant factors of successful experiential clinical learning are the characteristics of the students and learning behavior in ners students.

Abstract

Aims: There was a high rate of psychological issues among students engaging in clinical practice. Students that focus on caring as their pedagogical foundation will be more equipped to provide nursing intervention in clinical situations. Objective: This research aimed to examine nursing students' caring behaviors as they relate to their readiness for clinical practice. Methods: A total of 122 nursing students from nursing schools in Bandung participated in this descriptive and cross-sectional study, with a response rate of 81.3%. Students' caring behavior and clinical readiness are assessed using the Casey-Fink Readiness for Practice Survey and the CBI-24 (Caring Behavior Instrument short form). Pearson correlation and linear regression tests in SPSS 26 were used to establish associations between the variables. Results: Findings demonstrated a statistically significant correlation between students' caring conduct and clinical preparation (sig 0.000; p0.05). The correlation between the two variables was 23.8% strong, which  was statistically significant. Student readiness for clinical practice was only strongly related to the connection factor. Nursing students' caring attitudes and clinical readiness were not significantly influenced by students' age, gender, or work situation. Conclusions: The level of empathy and social connection among nursing students influenced how well they were prepared for clinical practice. The development of students' caring behaviors, including self-assurance, competency, and respect, should be a primary goal of nursing education.

Abstract

Heart failure (HF) is a chronic disease characterized by reduce heart efficiency affecting patients’ quality of life (QoL). Patients with HF report lower QoL compared with general population and other patients with chronic disease. There are multidimensional factors affecting QoL. Therefore, it is important to identify factors that could be associated with changes in QoL to improve outcomes. The aim of this study was to identify significantly factors related to QoL in patients with HF according to the available literatures. The literatures were searched in appropriate database, using PICO framework, from January 2012 until August 2018. Eighteen relevant articles were found and reviewed. Factors that are significantly related to QoL in patient with HF can be grouped into 5 categories, i.e. physical factors include physical symptoms, physical activity, functional status, duration of HF, and multiple hospitalization; psychosocial factors include depression, optimism, exercise self-efficacy, and living independently; behavioral factors include self-care engagement, water and sodium restriction; spiritual factors include acceptance of illness and existensial well-being; and demographic characteristics include age, sex, education, economic and employment status. This review provides insight on potentially factors affecting QoL. Proper intervention in modifying those factors is expected to improve the quality of life.
