Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk membandingkan potensi strategi pembelajaran Reciprocal Teaching (RT) dan Cooperative Script (CS) dalam memberdayakan retensi hasil belajar siswa berkemampuan akademik rendah. Penelitian kuasi eksperimen dengan desain pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Data yang diperoleh pada saat pascates dan tes retensi dianalisis secara statistik menggunakan Anacova. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa strategi pembelajaran tidak berbeda secara signifikan dalam memberdayakan retensi pada siswa berkemampuan akademik rendah. Dengan demikian, maka strategi pembelajaran RT maupun CS memiliki potensi yang sama untuk menolong siswa berkemampuan akademik rendah dalam memberdayakan retensi hasil belajarnya.

Abstract

Genetics is one of difficult subject for many undergraduate students majoring biology. Authentic-based research is one of learning activity believed could overcome the situation. One of Genetics course that facilitating the students to conduct authentic-based research is Genetics course in Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science, State University of Malang. The aim of this study was to describe the project research activities in Genetics course, especially the authentic-based research that utilize Drosophila melanogaster. The present study is qualitative descriptive with the object of this study is project activities in Genetics course. In this institution, the Genetics course is divided into Genetics I (taken by fourth semester students) and Genetics II (taken by fourth semester students). Data collection was conducted from 2014 until 2017 using open ended interviews and observation. An analytical strategy from Miles & Huberman was used to analyze the data. D. melanogaster was used as model organism in several Genetics projects. The genetics project was conducted from first until sixteenth week. In the project activities, the students get some flies strains, observe its phenotypes, design their research project, collect the data, analyze the data , prepare the report, ant present their project result.In this activities, students could practice to be a real researcher. Based on interviews with some students and observations during the presentation of the project reports,it can be seen that through this learning activities the students achieved better understanding about many genetics concepts. Moreover, several students have an opportunity to present their research results in International Conference events.

Abstract

Ideal learning should encourage students to be actively involved, both physically and mentally during the learning process. Unfortunately, Genetics lectures at higher education were still widely implemented conventionally through theoretical studies without involving practical activities. This condition was at least caused by two factors: (1) practical activity wasn’t designed in the curriculum, so it had never been done and (2) there weren’t enough learning resources available to encourage the students to carry out practical activity independently. The development of learning module that utilize Drosophila melanogaster was expected to enhance student’s activity and concept understanding on the topic of regulation of gene expression in eukaryotes. ADDIE was used as instructional module design, while the instrument used include observation sheets, student assessment sheets, and module validation sheets by Genetic experts and learning resource development experts. The results showed that the percentage of assessment based on small group trial was 90.8%; while validation results by Genetic and learning resource development expert were 92.2% and 92.5%, respectively. This means that the learning module was valid with very good qualification. Thus, the regulation of gene expression module can be used by students to obtain concept understanding more easily, as well as facilitating the students to empower skills and scientific values. Keywords: Project Practicum, Drosophila Melanogaster, Development of Module, Regulation of Gene Expression Abstrak Pembelajaran ideal adalah pembelajaran yang mampu mendorong siswa untuk terlibat secara aktif, baik secara mental maupun fisik selama proses pembelajaran. Sayangnya, perkuliahan Genetika di Perguruan Tinggi masih banyak dilaksanakan secara konvensional melalui kajian teoritis tanpa melibatkan aktivitas praktikum. Kondisi ini setidaknya disebabkan oleh dua faktor yaitu: (1) aktivitas praktikum memang tidak dirancang dalam kurikulum, sehingga belum pernah dilakukan dan (2) belum tersedia sumber belajar yang cukup untuk mendorong mahasiswa melaksanakan kegiatan praktikum secara mandiri. Pengembangan modul pembelajaran yang memanfaatkan Drosophila melanogaster diharapkan dapat mendorong aktivitas maupun pemahaman konsep mahasiswa pada topik regulasi ekspresi gen pada eukariot. ADDIE digunakan sebagai desain modul pembelajaran, sementara instrumen yang digunakan meliputi lembar observasi, lembar penilaian/respons mahasiswa, dan lembar validasi modul oleh ahli Genetika dan ahli pengembangan bahan ajar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa persentase penilaian berdasarkan uji coba kelompok kecil sebesar 90,8%; sementara hasil validasi oleh ahli materi dan ahli pengembangan bahan ajar masing-masing sebesar 92,2% dan 92,5%. Hal ini berarti bahwa modul dinilai layak dengan kualifikasi sangat baik. Dengan demikian, modul regulasi ekspresi gen dapat digunakan oleh mahasiswa untuk memperoleh pemahaman konsep secara lebih mudah sekaligus memfasilitasi mahasiswa untuk memberdayakan keterampilan dan sifat-sifat ilmiah.

Abstract

Perkembangan revolusi industri 4.0 telah menggeser tuntutan sumber daya manusia dengan kualifikasi yang lebih tinggi, yakni mereka yang memiliki keterampilan abad ke-21. Sayangnya, keterampilan berpikir kreatif maupun berpikir kritis yang merupakan bagian dari keterampilan abad-21 masih belum diberdayakan dengan baik. Salah satu upaya yang dapat dilakukan untuk meningkatkan kedua macam keterampilan tersebut yaitu melalui pembelajaran STEAM berbasis PjBL (project-based learning). Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk menguji adanya pengaruh pembelajaran STEAM berbasis PjBL terhadap keterampilan berpikir kreatif dan berpikir kritis siswa. Penelitian menggunakan rancangan quasi experiment dengan desain nonequivalent pretest-posttest control group. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas X MA Miftahul Ulum Bettet Pamekasan Tahun Pelajaran 2020/2021; sementara sampel yang digunakan meliputi satu kelas X IPA B untuk kelas eksperimen dan satu kelas X IPS I digunakan sebagai kelas kontrol. Data yang terkumpul selanjutnya dianalisis menggunakan uji anakova. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa: 1) Pembelajaran STEAM berbasis PjBL berpengaruh secara signifikan  terhadap keterampilan berpikir kreatif siswa  (P 0,000 < 0,005; Fhitung = 35,551). 2) Pembelajaran STEAM berbasis PjBL berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa (P 0,003 < 0,05, Fhitung = 9,401). Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa pembelajaran STEAM berbasis PjBL dapat digunakan sebagai alternatif pembelajaran untuk memberdayakan keterampilan abad ke-21.

Abstract

Evolution is one area on Biology learning that has the most contravention and misconception for many students in various educational regions globally, including Indonesia. This study aimed to identify student's acceptance of the evolutionary theory. The study was conducted using a mixed-method, in which the results of descriptive research were followed by correlational research on the variables studied. Data were collected by using questionnaire and rubric of Measure of Acceptance of The Theory of Evolution (MATE). The results showed that the average MATE score was 65.05, in which the students tended to have a moderate level of the acceptance of the evolutionary theory. The result showed that sex and religious background correlated with students' acceptance of the evolutionary theory, with a contribution of 49.9%. Thus, these results suggest that evolution is a crucial aspect to be considered in teaching evolution, and there must be an effort to overcome the differences in the acceptance of evolutionary theory in students with different gender and educational backgrounds. Three other factors influence student acceptance of the theory of evolution, namely students' misconceptions, beliefs, and understanding of the nature of science. Therefore, identification of students' prior knowledge is needed to determine the factors that influence students' acceptance in a context.

Abstract

Rendahnya keterampilan berpikir kritis dan minat baca siswa Indonesia menuntut para pendidik untuk menghadirkan alternatif pembelajaran dengan model pembelajaran yang dapat meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis dan minat baca. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh model pembelajaran Remap PBL terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis dan juga minat baca siswa. Peniltian dilaksanakan menggunakan quasi experiment dengan desain penelitian non-equivalent pretest posttest control group. Rubrik penilaian keterampilan berpikir kritis yang terintegrasi tes essai dan angket motivasi digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data penelitian. Hasil pengujian Anacova menunjukkan bahwa ada pengaruh Remap PBL terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis (p = 0,000) dan minat baca siswa (p = 0,015). Hasil analisis juga menunjukkan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa pada kelas yang diajarkan Remap PBL meningkat sebesar 67,1%, sementara pada kelas yang menerapkan pembelajaran saintifik sebesar 47,7%. Demikian pula, Remap PBL terbukti mampu meningkatan minat baca siswa sebesar 9,8%, dibandingkan kelas kontrol yang menerapkan pembelajaran saintifik dengan peningkatan sebesar 5,9%. Dengan demikian, model pembelajaran Remap PBL dapat dijadikan sebagai alternatif pembelajaran untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis dan minat baca siswa.

Abstract

The interaction between genetic and environmental factors in determining the characters of living organism is one of the main concepts in biology nowadays, and it becomes one of the main topic that students learn in genetics lecture. However, the observation result showed that regulation of gene expression in eukaryotes was considered to be a quite difficult topic for the students. The utilization of Drosophila melanogaster through practical activities can be used as an instructional media to help students understand the effect of environmental factors on the characters of living organism. This research aims to prove that through the crossbreeding of D. melanogaster for several generations, the effect of environmental factors on the characters of living organism can be observed. In this research, three strains of D. melanogaster were used to reveal the effect of dark environment on fecundity, which is one of the determinant factors of fitness in insects. The results showed that D. melanogaster treated in dark condition had lower fecundity than that in the control condition. The results of the comparison among the strains also showed that the strains of wild-type had higher fecundity than the white eyed color and ebony strains. The interaction between light conditions and generation and the interaction between light, strains, and generation also had an effect on the fecundity.

Abstract

Salah satu masalah yang sering dihadapi remaja pada kota-kota maju sebagai akibat modernisasi dan westernisasi di era digital adalah penyimpangan perilaku seksual. Meskipun demikian, daerah pedesaan berpeluang untuk mengalami hal yang sama karena perkembangan teknologi informasi membuat segala hal menjadi tanpa batas (borderless). Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengungkap faktor-faktor yang berkaitan dengan penggunaan internet terhadap penyimpangan perilaku seksual remaja di wilayah pesisir Madura. Penelitian mengggunakan metode potong lintang (cross sectional). Sebanyak 80 responden berusia 12-20 tahun diplilih secara acak dari sejumlah sekolah (SD, SMP, dan SMA/SMK) di wilayah Desa Branta, Pamekasan, Madura. Data yang diperoleh melalui angket dan wawancara selanjutnya dianalisis deskriptif dan inferensial melalui uji Chi-Square. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 91.71% responden telah terpapar konten pornografi saat mengakses internet dan sebanyak 50% responden secara sengaja mengakses konten pornografi. Hasil penelitian juga menunjukkan bahwa faktor berupa jenis kelamin dan akses terhadap konten pornografi memiliki hubungan yang signifikan dengan penyimpangan perilaku seksual, sementara faktor keterpaparan konten pornografi dan intensitas konsumsi internet tidak menunjukkan hubungan yang signifikan. Dengan demikian, hasil penelitian mengindikasikan bahwa dampak negatif penggunaan internet dapat dialami oleh siapapun, termasuk para remaja di wilayah pedesaan. Peran serta berbagai pihak sangat diperlukan untuk mencegah serta memberikan bimbingan secara memadai sehingga internet dapat menjadi ruang yang lebih aman bagi remaja.

Abstract

The conditions of the Covid-19 pandemic caused extraordinary changes in various sectors of life, including in the education sector. The closure of all school institutions "forced" the teachers transform their learning into online learning to reduce the potential spread of the Corona Virus in one school environment. Unfortunately, it had been a year after the implementation of learning from home began; the challenges and obstacles in implementing online learning were still felt at SLB Negeri Bugih Pamekasan. This community service aims to improve the ability of teachers to create and use learning media, as well as using online learning applications to support the learning process during pandemic situation. The method used was training which was packaged in a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) format. The results of the activity showed that: (1) 100% of teachers were able to use information and communication technology, especially the internet to find digital learning media that suits student needs, (2) 80% of teachers were able to make simple learning videos, and (3) 100% of teachers were able to use online learning applications to support the learning process.
