Abstract

This study aims to describe the effect of the experimental method in increasing the learning activities and mastering students' concepts in temochemical material. This study used a quasi-experiment method with pretest-posttest control design. The population of this study was students of grade XI of science class High School in Bandar Lampung. Sampling uses cluster random sampling. In the experimental class using XI science 4 and class XI science 6 as a class control. The results showed that the experimental method had aneffect on increasing the students’ learning activities with a percentage of 79.97% and mastery of students concepts in the experimental class increases based on the average n-Gain score and the "big" category of influence tests which are 0.76 in the experimental class. It can be concluded that the experimental method has a large measure of influence in increasing learning activities and mastery of the concept of learning in thermochemical material.Keywords: learning activities, experiment method, mastery of student concept, thermochemistryPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pengaruh metode eksperimen terhadap peningkatan aktivitas belajar dan penguasaan konsep siswa pada materi temokimia. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuasi eksperimen dengan pretest-postestcontrolgrup design. Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI IPA SMA di Bandar Lampung. Penentuan sampel menggunakan cluster random sampling, diperoleh kelas XI IPA 4 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas XI IPA 6 sebagai kelas kontrol. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan metode eksperimen berpengaruh terhadap peningkatan aktivitas belajar siswa dengan besar persentase 79,97% dan penguasaan konsep siswa di kelas eksperimen meningkat berdasarkan rata-rata skor n-Gain  dan uji pengaruh yang diperoleh berkategori “besar” yaitu 0,76 pada kelas eksperimen. Disimpulkan bahwa metode eksperimen memiliki ukuran pengaruh yang besar dalam meningkatkan aktivitas belajar dan penguasaan konsep siswa pada materi termokimia.Kata kunci: aktivitas belajar, metode eksperimen, penguasaan konsep siswa, termokimia

Abstract

The quasi experiment research using non equivalence control group design aimed to describe the effectiveness of POE learning model in order to improve the ability of the original thinking of solution acid base materials for the students. The research sample are first year secondary student (XI IPA 1 XI IPA 3) at Senior High School in Bandar Lampung which were sampled by cluster random. The result of this research showed that n-Gain average in the ability of the  student’s original thinking of control and experimental class were 0.39 and 0.55 respectively.  Based on t test of n-Gain has significant difference for both of class. Has an effect size value of 0.53 with “moderate” category in the control class and 0.78 with the “high” category in the experimental class. Based on effect size test has a great influence. This research concluded that POE learning model is effective in improving the ability of the student’s original thinking of solution acid based  topics.Penelitian kuasi eksperimen dengan Non Equivalence Control Group Design ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan efektivitas model pembelajaran POE dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir orisinil siswa pada materi asam basa. Sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kelas XI IPA 1 dan XI IPA 3 di SMA Negeri di Bandar Lampung yang diperoleh dengan menggunakan cluster random. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata rata n-Gainkemampuan berpikir orisinil siswa pada kelas kontrol sebesar 0,39 dan eksperimen sebesar 0,55.  Bedasarkan uji t  nilai rata-rata n-Gain kedua kelas penelitian berbeda secara signifikan. Memiliki effect size sebesar 0,53 dengan kategori “sedang” pada kelas kontrol dan 0,78 dengan kategori “tinggi” pada kelas eksperimen. Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah pembelajaran dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran POE efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir orisinil siswa pada materi asam basa.Kata Kunci: asam basa, kemampuan berpikir orisinil, POE

Abstract

This research aimed to describe the effectiveness of guided inquiry model learning in improving the skills to communicate and conclude on the electrolyte and non-electrolytes solution matery. Subjects were students of class X KA 1 SMTI-SMK Bandar Lampung. Samples were taken using purposive sampling technique and derived class X KA 1 as the control class and class X KA 2 as an experimental class. The research used a quasi experimental method with Non-Equivalent (pretest and posttest) Control Group Design. The results showed an average value of n-communicating skills to gain control and experimental classes respectively 0.40 and 0.57 and the average n-Gain skills classes concluded that for the control and experimental respectively 0.70 and 0.79. This suggests that the guided inquiry learning is effective in improving the skills of communicating and concluded.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan efektivitas model pembelajaran Inkuiri terbimbing dalam meningkatkan keterampilan mengkomunikasikan dan menyimpulkan pada materi larutan elektrolit non-elektrolit. Subyek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X KA 1 SMK-SMTI Bandar Lampung. Sampel penelitian diambil menggunakan teknik purposive sampling dan diperole kelas X KA 1 sebagai kelas control dan kelas X KA 2 sebagai kelas eksperimen. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuasi eksperimen dengan Non Equivalent (Pretest and Posttest) Control Group Design. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai rata-rata n-Gain mengkomunikasikan untuk kelas kontrol dan eksperimen masing-masing 0,40 dan 0,57 dan rata-rata n-Gain menyimpulkan untuk kelas kontrol dan eksperimen masing-masing 0,70 dan 0,79. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran inkuiri terbimbing efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan mengkomunikasikan dan menyimpulkan.Kata kunci: inkuiri terbimbing, keterampilan mengkomunikasikan, keterampilan menyimpulkan, larutan elektrolit non-elektrolit.

Abstract

This research aimed to describe the guided inquiry model that are effective in improving the inference and mastery of concepts skill in the subject of colloid. The samples of this research were the students of SMAN 1 Seputih Mataram class XI IPA2 and XI IPA3 at even semester year of 2012-2013. This research used quasi experiment method by non equivalent control group design. Effectiveness of guided inquiry learning model measured based on significant n-Gain difference between control class and experiment class. The result of this research showed the average of inference skill n-Gain for control class and experimental class were 0,35 and 0,60, then the average of mastery of concepts skill n-Gain for control class and experimental class were 0,38 and 0,67. Based on the hypothesis testing, it was concluded that the guided inquiry learning model effective in improving the inference and mastery of concepts skill on colloid subject.                              Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan efektivitas model inkuiri terbimbing  dalam meningkatkan keterampilan menginferensi dan penguasaan konsep pada materi koloid. Sample dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa SMAN 1 Seputih Mataram kelas  XI IPA2dan XI IPA3 semester genap Tahun Ajaran 2012-2013. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuasi eksperimen dengan non equivalent control group design. Efektivitas model inkuiri terbimbing diukur berdasarkan perbedaan n-Gain yang signifikan antara kelas kontrol dan kelas eksperimen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai rerata n-Gain keterampilan menginferensi untuk kelas kontrol dan eksperimen yaitu 0,35 dan 0,60, lalu nilai rerata n-Gain penguasaan konsep untuk kelas kontrol dan eksperimen yaitu 0,38 dan 0,67. Berdasarkan pengujian hipotesis, didapat kesimpulan bahwa pembelajaran inkuiri terbimbing efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan menginferensi dan penguasaan konsep pada materi koloid.Kata kunci :keterampilan menginferensi, koloid, pembelajaran inkuiri terbimbing, penguasaan konsep.

Abstract

This research aimed to describe effectiveness of PLGI learning in improving of student’s learning motivation and concept mastery at Basic Laws of Chemistry.  The population in this study was all students of class X in State Senior High School 2 Gadingrejo at school year 2012-2013. Sampling use class X1 as a control class and X2as a experiment class. This is a quasi-experimental research using Non Eqiuvalent (Pretest-Posttest) Control Group Design. Effectiveness of learning was measured based on improvements n-Gain significant and students be more motivated to study hard and get a better mastery of the concept after learning.  The results showed that: (1) the average value of n-Gain student’s learning motivation in experiment class and control class are 0,14 and 0,02, and the average value of n-Gain mastery of the concept in experiment class and control class are 0,58 and 0,42.  (2) the percentage of  highly motivated students each indicator of motivation in the experiment class was higher than the control class, (3) mastery learning experiment class reached 89,29%, while the control class reached 60,71%.  Showing that student’s learning motivation and concept mastery at Basic Laws of Chemistry in experiments class were higher than the control class.  Thus, the PLGI learning model is effective in improving student’s learning motivation and mastery of the concept at basic laws of chemistry in state senior high school 2 Gadingrejo.Keywords: Peer Led Guided Inquiry, student’s learning motivation and concept  mastery

Abstract

This research is aimed to describe grouping and inference skills of redoks material through problem solving model of student cognitive group.The subject is 26 students of X1 SMAN 1 Trimurjo. The method for this research is pre-experiment with one shot case study design and statistic descriptive for data analysis. This research will show problem solving model of redoks material for: (1) grouping skill: high category 100% are excellent; in medium 69,23% are excellent, 23,08% are good and 7,69% are enough; in low category 42,86% are excellent, 42,86% are good, and 14,28% are enough. (2) inference skill: For high category 83,33% are excellent and 16,67% are good. for medium category 53,85% are excellent, 38,46% are good and 7,69% are enough; for low category 42,86% are excellent, 42,86% are good and 14,28% are enough.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan keterampilan mengelompokkan dan inferensi pada materi redoks dengan model problem solving untuk kelompok kognitif siswa. Subyek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X1 SMAN 1 Trimurjo berjumlah 26 siswa. Metode penelitian ini adalah pre-experimental dengan one-shot case study design. Analisis data menggunakan statistik deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa model pembelajaran problem solving pada meteri redoks untuk : (1) keterampilan mengelompokkan: pada kelompok tinggi 100% berkriteria sangat baik; pada kelompok sedang 69,23% berkriteria sangat baik, 23,08% baik, dan 7,69% cukup; pada kelompok rendah 42,86% berkriteria sangat baik, 42,86% baik, dan 14,28% cukup. (2) keterampilan menginferensi: pada kelompok tinggi 83,33% berkriteria sangat baik, 16,67% baik; pada kelompok sedang 53,85% berkriteria sangat baik, 38,46% baik, dan 7,69% cukup; pada kelompok rendah 42,86% berkriteria sangat baik, 42,86% baik, dan 14,28% cukup.Kata kunci : kelompok kognitif, keterampilan inferensi, keterampilan mengelompokkan, oksidasi-reduksi, problem solving.

Abstract

This study aims to describe an effective instructional model in increasing students' interest  and concept’s mastery of class X in non-electrolyte and electrolyte solution material. The population are the class X of SMA Al Azhar 3 Bandar Lampung with X 8 as experiment class and X 7 as control. The design in this research is non equivalent control group design.The research’s results showed the mean of the index gain interest in the control and experimental classes respectively 0,26 and 0,54; and the mean index gain mastery of concepts for the control and experimental classes respectively 0,36 and 0,43. Based on hypothesis testing, it was concluded that learning through the class with Learning Cycle 5E has an interest and mastery of concepts that is higher than learning conventional class. This suggests that the learning material through  Learning Cycle 5E  is more effective in increasing students' interest and mastery of concepts.  Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan model pembelajaran yang efektif dalam meningkatkan minat dan penguasaan konsep siswa kelas X pada materi larutan non elektrolit dan elektrolit.  Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas X SMA Al Azhar 3 Bandar Lampung  dengan kelas X 8 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan X 7 sebagai kelas control. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah non equivalent control group design.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan n-Gain minat untuk kelas kontrol dan eksperimen masing-masing 0,26 ; 0,54; dan n-Gain penguasaan konsep untuk kelas kontrol dan eksperimen masing-masing 0,36 dan 0,43.  Berdasarkan pengujian hipotesis, disimpulkan bahwa kelas dengan pembelajaran melalui Learning Cycle 5E  memiliki minat dan penguasaan konsep yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelas dengan pembelajaran konvensional.  Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa melalui model pembelajaran Learning Cycle 5E lebih efektif dalam meningkatkan minat dan penguasaan konsep siswa.  Kata kunci:learning cycle 5E, minat, penguasaan konsep.

Abstract

This study aims to obtain an effective instructional model increase interest  and mastery of the concept of class XI science in chemical equilibrium material. The population in this study were all students of class XI Science SMAN 12 Bandar Lampung Year 2012-2013 semester with class XI IPA 4 as class Science and XI 5 as a sample. This research method is a quasi-experimental pretest posttest control group design. Learning effectiveness is measured by comparing the difference in value to the difference between pretest and posttest maximum value with the value of the pretest. The results showed the average value of the index gain interest in the control and experimental classes respectively 0,22 and 0,34; and the mean index gain mastery of concepts for the control and experimental classes respectively 0,33 and 0,55. Based on hypothesis testing, it was concluded that learning through the class with LC 3E has an interest and mastery of concepts that is higher than learning conventional class. This suggests that the learning material through chemical equilibrium LC 3E learning is more effective in increasing students' interest and mastery of concepts. Keywords: Learning Cycle 3E (LC3E), study interest, and mastery of concept

Abstract

Concidentally educator in chosed instruction model influence of communicate skill level and concept’s mastery. Communicate skill and concept’s mastery to training by instruction model appropriate would be accompany student for more significant instruction. The research for get a effective instruction model in increase communicate skill and concept’s mastery to acid-based materials. Learning Cycle 3E model consist from 3 phase : Exploration, Explanation, Elaboration. Sample in research is students in senior high school state 1 pekalongan, Class XI sains one and XI sains four, even semester  school year 20012-2013 have a same characteristics. The research is kuasi-experiment method with non equivalent pretest and posttest control group design. Effectiveness LC 3E measure and based on significant gain increase. The research indicated average value N-gain communicate skill. For control and experiment class each 0,55 and 0,66 and average N-gain concept’s mastery for control and experiment class 0,53 and 0,65. Based on hypothesis test, know that class with LC 3E instruction have communicate skill and concept’s mastery more high than class with convensional instruction. Abstract

This research aimed to describe the skills of communicating and infering on colloidal material with application of problem solving learning model for high, medium, and low cognitive groups students. The subjects were XI Science 1 of Senior High School 12 Bandar Lampung 2012/2013. This research was pre-experimental research design with one shot case study. It used descriptive analysis. Based on the analysis, it can be concluded that (1) the students’ skill in communicating, in high group, 88,89% was excellent, and 11,11% good; in medium group, 27,22% was excellent, 59,08%  good, and 13,7%  enough; in the low group, 22,22% was excellent, 33,33% good, and 44% enough. (2) the students’ skill of inferring, in high group, 77,7% was excellent, and 22,3% good; in medium group, 36,6% was excellent, and 63,4% good; in the low group, 11,11% was excellent, 66,67%  good, and 22% enough.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan keterampilan mengkomunikasikan dan menyimpulkan pada materi koloid dengan penerapan model probem solving untuk siswa kelompok kognitif tinggi, sedang, dan rendah. Subyek penelitian yaitu siswa kelas XI IPA1 SMA N 12 Bandar Lampung tahun ajaran 2012/2013. Penelitian ini merupa­kan pre-eksperimen dengan desain penelitian one shot case study. Analisis data menggunakan analisis deskriptif.  Dari hasil analisis data disimpulkan (1) keterampilan mengkomunikasikan, kelompok tinggi 88,89% siswa berkriteria sangat baik, dan 11,11% baik; kelompok sedang 27,22% berkriteria sangat baik, 59,08% baik, dan 13,7% cukup; kelompok rendah 22,22%  berkriteria sangat baik, 33,33% baik dan 44% cukup.
