Abstract

The people of Jorong Padang Koto Tuo, Mungka District, Lima Puluh Kota Regency are increasingly enthusiastic about quail farming. The more developed the livestock business, the more manure is produced. This will certainly become a serious environmental problem, if not immediately followed up. Therefore, it is necessary to take action to treat this manure, including the use of appropriate technology for processing quail manure into biogas and fertilizer. This activity focused on educating the people of Jorong Padang Koto Tuo, Mungka District, Lima Puluh Kota Regency regarding the processing of quail waste into biogas as an alternative energy source that is environmentally friendly and inexpensive, starting from the tools, how the stages of work, what processes occur and the products produced. This activity not only has a good impact on the environment, but the resulting product can be used as a substitute for LPG gas. The people looks enthusiastic in participating in this activity.

Abstract

During the pandemic, people's activities are limited outside the home. However, this condition has an impact on their income economy. People can return to their activities to meet their needs by implementing a new normal life through health protocols. However, information and knowledge on how to maintain body immunity and the implementation of a new normal life are still limited. Therefore, it is necessary to disseminate information about the importance of body immunity during this pandemic. One of the areas affected by this pandemic is Bungus Barat Village, Bungus Teluk Kabung District. To answer the problems that arise in this area, it is necessary to carry out service activities that aim to provide information to the community, especially mothers who are the spearheads of families who are members of the association of PKK women in West Bungus Village on how to increase and maintain immunity during the pandemic. This increase in immunity includes lifestyle and diet that must be followed in the new normal life. Participants in this service activity include representatives of PKK women in West Bungus Village. The activity is in the form of implementation which is divided into two stages, namely guided activities, and independent activities. In the guided activities, interactive and practical counseling methods are used. Meanwhile, in independent activities, the target is to carry out the practice of making spice drinks and VCO in groups again. The results of the activity showed an increase in target knowledge about kitchen spices and coconut into VCO and nutritious spice drinks. The target community, namely PKK women, is also interested in consuming and producing their own VCO and spice drinks that have been made. In addition, from this activity, the community gained a good understanding of what to do during this pandemic, not only in complying with health protocols but also in regulating lifestyle and eating patterns.

Abstract

The 2013 curriculum is implemented in senior high school, emphasizing the scientific approach. Learning model that is able to make students active and can develop science process skills is guided inquiry. Guided inquiry consists of several syntax that can guides students in learning process, consisting of orientation, exploration, concept formation, application, and closing. Students are guided by key questions related to redox reaction material of class XII SMA or MA which is applied in instructional media in the form of interactive powerpoints. The type of this research was reseach and development with 4-D models. Powerpoint interactive validity testing is carried out by 3 chemistry lecturers at FMIPA UNP and 2 chemistry  teachers at SMAN 14 Padang, the powerpoint interactive have an average kappa moments 0.91 which is very high level of validity. While the module practicality test is by 3 chemistry teachers and 25 XII grade IPA at SMAN 14 Padang, the average kappa moment from the results of  practicality test of the module by the teachers is 0.93 and by the student is 0.90 with very high category. From the research can be concluded that interactive powerpoint is valid and practical.

Abstract

Chert  is stone that contains silica (SiO2) ≥ 60%. High silica content in chert stones can be used as an alternative source of potential silica in synthesizing sodium silicate (Na2SiO3) or other industrial needs. Purification is used to separate silica from other metals contained in the chert stone using HNO3. The qualitative and quantitative analysis of chert stone with XRF reveal that it contained a small amount of impurity oxide such as Al2O3, Fe2O3, MgO, K2O, CaO with the highest contain is SiO2 about 79.99%. After several purification steps, silica percentage from the chert stone increased to 86.45%. With this increasing percentage of silica, its potential to use it as precursor Na2SiO3.

Abstract

Humic acid is a heterogeneous organic compound that is toxic, mutagenic and carcinogenic. This study goals to degrade humic acid using the photocatalytic method. The photocatalyst used for degradation is nano ZnO doped Cu 7%. The degradation process applies sunlight using a hexagonal mobile reactor and the light intensity is measured using a lightmeter. The degradation was carried out with variation of stirring at 500 rpm and without stirring at 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 hours of irradiation. Result of degradation analysed using UV-Vis spectrophotometer. Result obtained the degradation using stirring has a higher percentage of degradation than without stirring. The percentage maximum of degradation obtained in study was 90,09% with 500 rpm stirring at 5 hours irradiation. In this study showed the effect of stirring on humic acid degradation using a hexagonal mobile reactor.

Abstract

Mesoporous silica is a silica solid with pores between 2-50 nm which can be used in the fields of adsorption, medicine, catalyst synthesis, material purification and stationary phase for chromatography. Mesoporous silica is generally synthesized using TEOS or TMOS, but these precursors are relatively expensive. Na2SiO3 is a precursor of mesoporous silica which is more economical and easy to obtain. Basic materials that contain a lot of silica such as chert can be synthesized into Na2SiO3. Mesoporous silica synthesis generally uses surfactants as templates for the polymerization of silica, therefore a cosolvent is needed that can act as a crystal size enlarger by interacting with surfactants. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the addition of hexane on the synthesis of mesoporous silica symbolized by SM and SMH5. Mesoporous silica was synthesized using the sol-gel method with the basic ingredients of Na2SiO3 from chert, P104 as a surfactant, HCl as a solvent and n-hexane as an additive to increase crystal size. Mesoporous silica was characterized using XRD. The results of measurements using XRD showed that the X-ray difragtogram pattern showed peaks at an angle of 2ϴ = 22.29o and 25.33o for SM and SMH5 products, respectively.

Abstract

Titanium dioxide (TiO2) is a semiconductor material that is often applied as a photocatalyst. TiO2 has a band gap of 3.20 eV which is less effective when used in visible light. Nitrogen dopants are dopants that have high effectiveness to improve the performance of TiO2 in the visible light region. This study aims to determine the effect of adding nitrogen dopant concentration on the characteristics of TiO2 and its photocatalytic activity in degrading methylene blue. The photocatalytic activity of TiO2-N was tested with 10 ppm methylene blue under sunlight for 1 hour. The addition of dopants to the TiO2 matrix has an effect on the band gap and photocatalytic activity of TiO2

Abstract

Goethite yellow dye (α-FeOOH) is an inorganic synthesis product with natural iron sand as the basic material. Pure natural iron sand contains magnetic particles oxidized  to produce Fe3+ ions which can be used as starting materials  for FeOOH compounds. Synthesis was carried out by coprecipitation method with NaHCO3 as coprecipitation agent. The variation of the mass of iron sand is aimed at knowing the optimal comparison of the use of iron sand, H2SO4, and HNO3. The optimum ratio obtained between the mass of iron sand, H2SO4 and HNO3 is 3:10:10. Variations of pH synthesis were carried out at pH 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 to produce a yellow color with different brightness. The pH causes the yellow color to get darker. The brightest yellow color was obtained at pH 2 synthesis. Characterization was carried out with DRUV-Vis to see the absorption wavelength, FTIR spectrophotometer to see the product's functional groups and XRD to see the crystal structure of the product.

Abstract

The aim of the study was to determine the effect of moles of K3Fe(CN)6 on the Prussian blue color, to obtain the optimum synthesis conditions. Coprecipitation and centrifugation methods for separating pigments from solvents. Fe3O4 was reacted with 96% H2SO4 to obtain Fe2+ ions, then reacted with K3Fe(CN)6, producing Prussian Blue. This study varied 3 samples of K3Fe(CN)6, the variation results were referred to as M1, M2 and M3. In sample M1, 3.037 mmol K3Fe(CN)6 was reacted at 30.37 mM. For sample M2, 9.87 mmol K3Fe(CN)6 30.37 mM was reacted with 4.56 mmol FeSO4 0.018 mM, 250 mL. In sample M3, reacted with 12.21 mmol K3Fe(CN)6 30.37 mM. In the variation of K3Fe(CN)6, the optimum is in the M2 sample. The maximum UV-Vis absorbance of M2 products is at 747 nm, according to the standard absorbance wavelength of Prussian Blue (680-740 nm), and the absorbance is relatively high.Keywords — iron sand, potassium ferricyanide, prussian blue, pigment

Abstract

Basic law material of chemistry and stoichiometry have been learned in 2013 curriculum was studied in class X SMA or MA on even semester. Based on 2013 curriculum guidance, the material should be taught by scientific approach and practicum method. However, due to limited in class duration and students lack of preparation in term of discussion needs, those approach and method became difficult to implement. Thus, this learning process can be helped with a learning media. One of learning media that can be implemented is an interactive PowerPoint learning media with guided inquiry based. This research aimed to produce valid and practical interactive PowerPoint learning media with guided inquiry based for basic laws of chemistry and stoichiometry subject of X grade in SMA or MA. The method that used in this research was R and D method with 4D development model which was restricted to development phase. The techniques for data analysis was Aikens V that showed score as followed 0.82 for content validation, 0.84 for construct validation, and 0.96 for media expert validation which were all classified as valid result. The results of practicality test for learning media by teachers and students are 93 percent and 85.8 percent with very practical category.
