Abstract

Artificial Insemination using liquid semen is technology reproduction can improve goat productivity without liquid nitrogen. The Purpose of this research was to determine differences of old coconut water varieties of red (Cocos rubescens) and green (Cocos viridis) as diluent Boer goat semen, based on motility, viability and spermabnormalities during storage at 3-50C. The materials used for this research was Boer goat fresh semen as much as 3 heads were collected 2 times a week. Experimental Design. The treatment were devided into three Treatmen, there were: P0 (Tris+ 20% egg yolk); P1 (old coconut water varieties red + 20% egg yolk); P2 (old coconut water varieties green + 20% egg yolk). The data were analyzed by randomized block design, if the result are different or significantly different then continued to be tested with Duncan's multiple range test. The result showed that during storage until days 4, P0 has the best result on motility (40,5 + 1,1 %), viability (45,18+ 1,56 %), and abnormality (1,89+ 0,59 %). While on the diluent using old coconut water green variety better then red variety. On day of 2 P1 and P2 have motility (61 + 1,3%) and (51+ 7,5%); Viability (67,14+17,99%) and (55,37+10,66%), abnormality (1,23 + 1,02%) dan (1,70+ 0,99%).

Abstract

The quality of liquid semen with coconut water as diluent could be preserved up to 3 to 4 days during cold storage at 4 - 5oC. In this research, the successful insemination rate of coconut water-based diluent Boer goat liquid semen was observed to understand the application of coconut water as semen diluent. The materials used in this research were 5 to 7 months Viridis coconut water, liquid semen from 3 years old Boer buck, 30 does for acceptor, and Tris-aminomethane added with 10% egg yolk (EY) as a control diluent. The Boer semen was collected once a week by using artificial vagina, diluted and then stored before used for insemination. The insemination was done by using intra-cervical method at position 3, started with estrous synchronization by using 2 mL PGF2α. The research was conducted as experimental method under randomized group design with two treatments, that were Tris-aminomethane + 10% EY (P0) and coconut water + 10% EY (P1). All of the treatments were repeated for 15 times and the collected data were analyzed with Pearson’s chi square with Genstat 18 program. The observed variables include non-return rate and kidding rate. The results showed that the first non-return rate of P1 were 93.33% and in P0 were 73.33%, while the second non-return rate of P1 were 93.33% and in P0 were 80%. Furthermore, the kidding rate of P1 were 40% and P0 were 66.66%. The Pearson’s chi square analysis showed that there was no effect of coconut water as semen diluent to the kidding rate. The research concludes that the usage of coconut water as semen diluent did not affect the successful insemination rate of Boer goat.

Abstract

This study is conducted on December 2016until January 2017 in Sumber Sekar Field Laboratory, Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Brawijaya University. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of different maturity levels of green coconut water dilution with 10% of egg yolk to the sperm quality of Boer goat during storage. Materials used in the study were male Boer kept in Sumber Sekar Field Laboratory. The semen was collected routinely once in 2 days using artificial vagina with fresh semen quality requirement individual motility ≥70%. The method used in this study is Randomnized Block Design which consists of three treatments, there are P0 as control (CEP-2 + 10% Egg Yolk); P1 (Young Green Coconut Water + 10% Egg Yolk) and P2 (Mature Green Coconut Water + 10% Egg Yolk). If the difference between the treatments showed real influence, then the Duncan’s Multiple Range Test will be done. The grouping is sorted by the semen observation time. The observed variables macroscopically include volume, smell, consistency, color and acidity, and microscopically which include individual motility, mass motility, viability and abnormality.The study result for the mean and standard deviation (SD) of motility in storage until the 4th day. The motility of P0 (36.67 ± 32.96)%, then P1 (20.0 ± 13.78)%, and the last P3 (18.33 ± 19.15). Dilution with the best viabillity average in the 4th day in P0 (58.02 ± 19.93)%, in P1 (26.10 ± 18.47)% and the last is P2 (25,87 ± 20,60)%.the average value of abnormality on the 4th day shows that the lowest average abnormality found in P0 (1.49 ± 0.73)%, then P1 (1.89 ± 1.68)% and the highest average value of abnormality is in P2 (2,87 ± 1.41).Keywords : liquid semen, boer goat, green coconut water, CEP-2, cold storage

Abstract

The aim of this research was to know the effect of maturity of red coconut water as a diluent to the sperms quality of Boer goats during chilled preservation. The research was carried out at Laboratory Sumber Sekar Faculty of Animal  Husbandry University of Brawijaya Malang, on 11st December 2016 until 31st January 2017. The method used in this research was laboratory experimental using Randomized Block Design with three treatments, P0 (Tris Aminomethane + 20% Egg Yolk), P1 (Young Red Coconut Water + 20% Egg Yolk) and P2 (Mature Red Coconut Water + 20% Egg Yolk) which each treatment using 10 repetitions. The observed variables include the percentage of motility, percentage of viability and percentage of abnormal spermatozoa during chilled preservation The results showed that on the 3ndday the percentage of motility of spermatozoa during chilled preservation gave a significant effect (P<0.05), while on viability gave a very significant effect (P<0.01), and on abnormality did not give a significant effect (P> 0.05). The highest of total motile spermatozoa was P0 (Tris Aminomethan + 20% Egg Yolk). P2 better than P1 on motility, but not on viability and abnormality. The conclusions was the maturity of red coconut water can improve motility, but can not improve viability and abnormality. The suggested was use Mature Red coconut water + 20% Egg Yolk as a diluent  and do further research on coconut water to be able to maintain spermatozoa longer.Keyword : Sperms, egg yolk, red coconut water, tris aminomethane

Abstract

ABSTRAKAir kelapa muda varietas viridisdapat dijadikan pengencer aletrnatif semen cair bagi program IB di daerah minim sarana semen beku. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menguji pengaruh penggunaan air kelapa muda viridissebagai bahan pengencer terhadap kualitas semen cair kambing Boer setelah didinginkan. Dilaksanakanselama 3 bulan di Laboratorium Fakultas Peternakan UBUnit SumberSekar,Malang. Metodenya yaitu eksperimen. Semen dari  3 pejantan Boer umur 3-5 tahun, dikoleksi seminggu sekali dengan VB. Air kelapa mudaviridis umur 5-7 bulan serta tris aminomethane sebagai kontrol. Didesain menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dengan 2 perlakuan yaitu P0 (tris aminomethane + 10% KT) dan  P1 (air kelapa muda viridis + 10% KT) masing-masing diulang 10 kali. Data dianalisis dengan analisis Ragam (Anova) dengan software Genstat 18. Variabelnya yaitu motilitas individu, viabilitas dan abnormalitas. Hasil penelitian yaitu motilitas individu pada P1bertahan sampai 4 hari (40,5± 24,3%), viabilitas terbaik sampai hari ke-5 (42±24,6%), abnormalitas terendah di hari ke-7(1,31± 0,6). Kesimpulannya, Pengencer air kelapa muda viridis dapat mempertahankan kualitas semen cair kambing Boer selama 4 hari untuk motilitas dan 5 hari untuk viabilitas.Kata Kunci:pengencer, air kelapa, varietas viridisABSTRACTYoung viridis coconut water could be used as an alternative to liquid semen diluent for artificial insemination program in the area with limited facility for frozen semen production. This study evaluated the use of young coconut water as a diluent on liquid semen quality of Boer goat after cold storage. This study was carried out for 3 months at Sumber Sekar Laboratory, Faculty of Animal Husbandry, University of Brawijaya, Malang. The semen was collected from 3 Boer bucks aged at 3 to 5 years old. The semen collection was done once a week with the aid of artificial vagina. The diluents used were young Viridis coconut (5 to 7 months old) and tris aminomethane. The method used was an experiment in a randomized block design with 2 treatments and 10 replicates. The treatments used were T0: tris aminomethane + 10% egg yolk (control) and T1:  young Viridis coconut water + 10% egg yolk. Data were analyzed by analysis of variance using Genstat 18 software. The variables measured were sperm individual motility, viability, and abnormality. The results showed that the sperm individual motility in T1 survived up to 4 days (40.5± 24.3%), the best viability at 5 days (42.0±24.6%),  while the lowest abnormality at 7 days (1.31±0.6). It could be concluded that: 1. Tris aminomethane diluent has higher quality with the storage length up to 9 days, 2. Young Viridis coconut water diluent could preserve liquid semen quality of Boer goat up to 4 days for sperm motility and 5 days for sperm viability.Keywords: diluents, coconut water, viridis variety

Abstract

The objective of this research was to examine the effect of removal raffinose in tris aminomethane egg yolk diluents to semen quality of Boer goat during chilled preservation. This research was carried out at Animal Reproduction Laboratory and Sumber Sekar Laboratory, Animal Husbandry Faculty, Brawijaya University from December 11th 2016 to  January 31th 2017. Semen diluent was divided into two groups, there were P0 (80% Tris Aminomethane + 20% Egg Yolk); and P1 (80% Tris Aminomethane (without raffinose) + 20% Egg Yolk). Parameter of this research was motility percentage, viability percentage, and abnormality percentage. Data of this research was analyzed using paired design t test. The result showed that after five days chilled preservation, was different (P<0,05) on the average motility percentage between P0 (39,50±9,26%) and P1 (43,50±6,26%). There was significantly different (P<0,01) on the average viability percentage between P0 (45,86±15,66%) and P1 (46,38±15,32%). There was significantly different (P<0,01) on the average abnormality percentage between P0 (1,76±0,60%) and P1 (2,31±0,75%). Total motile sperm count after 5 days chilled preservation was different (P<0,05) in P0 treatment and not different (P>0,05) in P1 treatment compared to the expectation value of 40 million sperm/ml. The conclution of this research was the tris aminomethane egg yolk diluent without raffinose could protect of Boer goat semen quality during chilled preservation. Keywords: boer goat semen, tris aminomethane, raffinose, chilled preservation

Abstract

Daun kemangi (Ocimum sanctum l) selain digunakan sebagai penyedap rasa makanan, juga memiliki zat aktif yang bisa diuji untuk mengetahui pengaruhnya terhadap produktivitas ternak diantarnya produksi telur. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian ekstrak daun kemangi terhadap produksi telur ayam buras. Variabel yang diamati yaitu jumlah telur, bobot telur dan bobot kuning telur. Materi yang digunakan yaitu ayam betina umur 27 minggu dengan bobot 850-100 g sejumlah 36 ekor serta sejumlah pakan ayam. Desain penelitian yaitu Rancangan Acak Lengkap dengan 3 perlakuan dan 1 kontrol yang masing-masing ulangan terdiri dari 3 ekor (4x3x3=36). Perlakuan yang digunakan yaitu R0, tanpa kemangi (control), R1 kemangi 2%, R2 kemangi 4% dan R3 Kemangi 6%. Hasil Uji Anova menunjukkan bahwa pemberian daun kemangi 4 % memberikan pengaruh yang nyata (P<0,05) terhadap jumlah telur yaitu 28,22 butir. Untuk bobot telur, kuning telur dan putih telur hasil uji statistic perlakuan tidak memberikan pengaruh (P>0,05). Kesimpulan yaitu pemberian daun kemangi dapat memberikan efek terhadap produksi telur jika diberikan pada level yang sedang yaitu tidak terlalu rendah atau tinggi dari jumlah ransum.

Abstract

The shortage of pempek male goats due to high slaughter makes it difficult for partner breeders to carry out natural mating. The alternative is to use artificial insemination technology as a substitute for male pempek. The purpose of this service activity is to help partners who have difficulty mating their goats naturally. Using the artificial vagina of goat ejaculate, a 2.5 year old male stud was accommodated, mixed with coconut water diluent mixed with 10% egg yolk. Liquid semen was inseminated in 8 female recipients who were in heat. After days 19, 20, 21 post IB, the female recipients were observed for symptoms of estrus (NRR1), = 3 (37.5%) and NRR2 4 tails (50%) out of a total of 8 female recipients. Pregnant female = 2(25%).

Abstract

This study examines the role of non-synthetic buffers from watermelon and papaya juice added to coconut water diluent on the liquid semen quality of Kacang goats during cold storage at 5oC for three months. An experimental method was used in which semen from a 2.5-year-old male was collected twice a week using an artificial vagina. The primary ingredients include young coconut water, Viridis, watermelon, papaya, NaHCO3, and Egg Yolk (KT). Furthermore, the observed variables were individual motility, viability, and abnormality. This study used a Randomized Block Design (RAK)) with 3 treatments and 10 replications, namely P0: Coconut Water + NaHCO3 + 10% KT, P1: Coconut Water + Watermelon Juice + 10% KT, and P2: Coconut Water + Papaya Juice + 10% KT. The data were analyzed using Variety Analysis. The results showed the treatment had a significant effect (P<0.01) on individual motility at all storage times, with the best motility up to 120 storage minutes with 61.00±3.16% at P1. Furthermore, the treatment had a significant effect (P<0.01) on viability at all storage times. The best treatment was P0 (72.24±5.28%), and the lowest was P2 (1.40±0.84%), with a shelf life of 120 minutes. The treatment had no effect (P>0.01) on abnormality at all storage times. It can be concluded that the use of watermelon and papaya juice as non-synthetic buffers in coconut water diluent on Kacang goat semen affects motility and viability but has no effect on abnormality.

Abstract

Kampung Unggul Balitnak (KUB) is a native chicken crossed for six generations. Rice bran is an energy source of feed, but rice bran has high crude fiber. The research was conducted in the poultry production cage of Sasa Village, South Ternate City. This study aimed to determine the percentage of fermented rice bran of performance of KUB Village chicken for meat production. The study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of five treatments and four replications. Data obtained were analyzed with Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) one way and further tests with Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT). The results showed that the ration consumption for all treatments (R0, R1, R2, R3, and R4) was not significantly different (p>0.05). The body weight gain, feed conversion, and carcass weight were not significantly different (p>0,05) between R0, R1, R2, and R3 treatments. However, the R4 treatment showed significant differences (p<0.05) from the other treatments. In conclusion, presenting a ration containing up to 30% fermented rice bran provides optimal results for the growth of KUB chicken to produce meat.
