Abstract

This article describes the use of metaphoric words of T-shirt design produced by the Kapuyuak and Konco Clothing stores. T-shirts in both stores contain many metaphors about the daily life of Minangkabau people. This study discusses metaphorical forms and functions in the product's design of those two shops. The theory used is the theory of the metaphor form proposed by Stephen Ullman and the theory of functions by Geoffrey Leech.The results show metaphorical forms in the T-shirts design produced by the Kapuyuak and Konco Clothing stores, which are 6 anthropomorphic metaphors, 4 animal metaphors, 7 metaphors from concrete to abstract, and 3 synaesthetic metaphors. Whereas, the functions found are 4 informational functions, 4 expressive functions, 1 directive function, 1 fatigue function, and 10 aesthetic functions.Keywords: metaphor, shirt design, metaphorical form, metaphorical function

Abstract

Tulisan ini mendeskripsikanbentukdan menjelaskan makna katapenyukatyangdigunakandiPasarSumpurKudusKabupaten Sijunjung. Tahap penyedian data menggunakan wawancara metode cakap dengan teknik dasar yaitu teknik pancing, dan tekniklanjutan yaitu teknik cakap semuka, teknik catat, dan teknik rekam.Hasilnya, ditemukan sebanyak tiga puluh empat kata penyukat. Dari semua kata penyukat tersebut terdapat tiga kata kerja serta kata penyukat lainnya merupakan kata benda yang mengandung makna leksikal.

Abstract

This article describes the form and meaning of the sign language used by a child with a deaf mother. Data provided by referral method which are using tapping techniques. Data analyzed uses a pragmatic method with speech partners and determination of other languages. The results show that the object communicates with his mothers occurs hand gestures and body gestures. In this case, the sign language used is not the standard sign language but a habit that is formed because of the similarity with the subject.

Abstract

This article describes the meaning contained Facebook status uses Minangkabau language. Data were collected through the searching method. Each sorted word is sought by referents so that can be interpreted and classified according to their form and type.The results show besides four types of diction; diction related to scientific and popular words, diction related to conversation words, diction related to slang, and diction related to a foreign language, also found three types of meanings; conceptual meaning, connotative meaning, associative meaning.

Abstract

Artikel ini mendeskripsikan peribahasa Minangkabau yang mengandung leksikon peralatan dapur tradisional. Leksikon peralatan dapur diperoleh melalui metode yang digunakan saat penyediaan data leksikon adalah metode simak, yaitu dilakukan dengan menyimak penggunan bahasa oleh informan dalam wawancara, Teknik dasar yang digunakan adalah teknik sadap. Sementara teknik lanjutannya yaitu teknik simak libat cakap. Kemudian dalam penelitian ini juga menggunakan teknik catat. Sementara itu, peribahasa diperoleh melalui buku Peribahasa Minangkabau oleh Anas Nafis. Hasil analisis menunjukkan tiga puluh empat leksikon peralatan dapur tradisional di Minangkabau, dua puluh leksikon termasuk ke dalam morfem bebas dan lima belas leksikon termasuk ke dalam frasa nominal. Makna yang ditemukan dalam penelitian mengenai peralatan dapur tradisional di Minangkabau ini adalah makna leksikal dan diperoleh tiga puluh peribahasa yang mengandung peralatan dapur tradisional.

Abstract

Writing is a language skill that is used to communicate indirectly. The ability and willingness to write students who are involved in journalism, such as creative writing, are minimal. To address this, it is necessary to solve the classic problems of learners, especially students in the world of writing and literacy. This activity involved students in the Education and Teacher Training Department. It is hoped that this activity can increase students' willingness and ability to write in the field of creative writing. This activity is carried out in the form of training activities with direct assistance during training and after training. Writing training activities are carried out in an exciting and fun way, using image media for the student level. So that students are not bored, besides the lecture method, it is also equipped with training. The training method is carried out using efficient delivery, discussion, and hands-on practice, divided into three sessions: imagination, fiction, and expression. Through this training activity, participants are expected to increase their willingness and ability in writing. There will be more opportunities to publish creative writing results online with available means and channels. After the training was carried out, there was an increase in his abilities and willingness, especially in making Minang poetry and Indonesian language poetry fictional prose created in a short time. Furthermore, the activity was closed with the publication of their writing on the minangsatu.com page, which would continue periodically.

Abstract

Nagari Sijunjung has become a concern of various parties since registering Jorong Padang Ranah and Tanah Bato as world heritage and traditional villages. Both regions have many big houses, which is one of the essential bases for registration. However, apart from the big houses and their physical architecture, Nagari Sijunjung, especially Padang Ranah and Tanah Bato, have much intangible cultural heritage stored in the memory of a small part of the community. This intangible cultural heritage is neglected and forgotten, even though it can be an essential part of the registration to UNESCO. This activity aims to provide knowledge and understanding to the people of Padang Ranah and Tanah Bato about the importance of their intangible cultural heritage and document the intangible cultural heritage that exists in Padang Ranah and Tanah Bato, Nagari Sijunjung. This activity was carried out in Padang Ranah and Tanah Bato Nagari Sijunjung, West Sumatra. The methods used in this counseling are lectures and discussions. Documentation of this activity is also carried out by producing intangible cultural archives. The results of the activities obtained are counseling and documentation activities carried out by the people of Padang Ranah and Tanah Bato. They can understand and begin to document the intangible cultural products they have. They also do not hesitate to pass it on to the younger generation, so they do not just disappear. Archiving efforts are also needed as supporting documents for the existence of cultural heritage owned by the community. Through this activity, the people of Padang Ranah and Tanah Bato are expected to understand and also begin to become products of their intangible culture.

Abstract

Tulisan   ini  ditujukan   untuk  menganalisis   perkembangan   dan  konsep  dasar industri  kreatif  berbasis  potensi  sosial  budaya  di  Sumatera  Barat,  khususnya dalam bidang  seni dan budaya.  Secara umum, seni tidak memiliki  posisi yang ideal dalam pengembangan industri kreatif. Akan tetapi, berdasarkan pada pengamatan  dan wawancara yang telah dilakukan dalam penelitian ini, terdapat beberapa   komunitas   dan   seniman   yang   menyiapkan   diri   dan   menerapkan manajemen  modern  dalam  produksi  seninya.  Seni  memiliki  hubungan  yang dilematis  dengan  industri,  antara  nilai  estetika  dan  nilai  pasar.  Dalam  situasi seperti  ini,  manajemen  memiliki  posisi  yang  penting  dalam  upaya menghubungkan  dan menjembatani  antara seniman,  pasar, pemerintah,  kritikus dan para ahli. Dengan menggunakan metode triple helix, diketahui bahwa daerah terpilih dalam penelitian ini memiliki peluang besar untuk dikembangkan industri kreatifnya,   baik   itu   karena   potensi   artistik,   lokasi,   seniman,   pemerintah, masyarakat dan pihak terkait lainnya.

Abstract

This study aims to know the extent of students' perceptions of the importance of ideas in writing a film screenplay. The research approach uses a qualitative descriptive method. Data were collected through observation and questionnaires. The participants are fifth-semester students, as many as 42 people in the audio-visual class. The data were analyzed through three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation and conclusion. The results of data analysis found that most of the students, or 87.3%, students knew what ideas were in writing film scenarios. In addition, it was also found that ideas related to family are a concept that is considered by students as the easiest notion to write into scenarios. This is due to the proximity to the source of thought in writing. Meanwhile, the concept of tradition and traditional arts is an idea that is considered the most difficult for them to write because students lack experience and information related to tradition and art. The results of this study serve as a guide for teachers in developing students' ability to write film screenplays.

Abstract

The development and utilization of ancient manuscript illumination need to be done. One of them is designing cloth motifs or batik motifs. The activity was carried out from August to December 2022 with partners Canting Buana Kreatif Padang Panjang and Dewi Busana Pesisir Selatan. The method used is counseling and training. The activity was carried out in six stages. First, preparations include administration, preparation of implementation schedules, licensing processes, and guidelines from August 19 to September 30, 2022. Second, clustered discussions to produce exotic narratives of batik motif designs on October 3 and 4, 2022. Third, batik production training is attended by batik artisans and prospective artisans and students from October 5 to 14, 2022 at Canting Buana Kreatif and Dewi Busana. Fourth, batik production from October 14 to 26, 2022. Fifth, digital marketing training on October 31 and November 1, 2022, at Andalas University. Sixth, an exhibition of batik products produced by the participants will be held from November 3 to December 4, 2022, at the Minangkabau Corner, Andalas University. This activity involves the participation of partners and students. 10 (ten) Students are actively involved in this activity. The benefits of this activity are expected to be the formation of a community ecosystem that is aware of the utilization of cultural heritage (ancient manuscripts) for the creative industry. This activity aims to develop and utilize the treasures of cultural heritage in the form of ancient manuscript illumination treasures for the enrichment of Minangkabau batik motif designs. This activity concludes that artisans from both batik houses and partner participants can develop and understand the philosophy of the motifs for developing Minangkabau ancient manuscript illumination.
