Abstract

The State Islamic University of Syarif The State Islamic University of Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta has a vision to become a world-class university with the excellence of scientific, Islamic and Indonesian integration. The chemistry education study program has implemented it in Islamic integrated learning, but there are not many teaching materials available in the form of Islamic integrated enrichment books in several courses, one of which is the biochemistry course. The purpose of this study is to develop teaching materials in the form of an Islamic integrated biochemical enrichment book, carbohydrate materials that are suitable for use. This study uses the 4STMD (Four Steps Teaching Material Development) method. The stages are the stage of selection, structuring, characterization and reduction. Validation data were obtained from chemical integration experts with Islam and media experts. The number of respondents was 59 students of the 8th semester of 2016 class of chemistry education who have received biochemistry courses and Islamic and science courses. This enrichment book has been through field trials, namely testing the comprehension of the text to the respondents. The results of the research from the validation of Islamic religious experts show that the concept of biochemical and Islamic integration is valid and feasible to use with the high category comprehension test of 83.6% with the concept criteria easy to understand. The results of the feasibility test from media experts were 84.57%. Islamic integrated biochemical enrichment book on carbohydrate material is suitable for use with very good criteria. This book can be used as an integrated biochemical enrichment book for Islam and Indonesia.

Abstract

This paper aims at describing teaching and learning activities in chemistry lesson through environmental-based (contextual-based)  experiments that are viewed from the perspective of Islam. Islam teaches its followers to study their environment in order to find solution for many problems. One of the problems posed by chemistry teachers with regards to conducting chemistry experiments is the lack of laboratory equipments. In fact, if environment has been studied well, Islam has provided anything we need including the need to conduct chemistry experiment. Verses in Quran, especially al-Baqarah: 185, an-Nisa: 28, al-Hajj: 78, and Hud: 61 implied that our environment provides more than enough for us to do experiments. The problem of not doing the experiments was that because teachers are not studying their environment well enough. This paper describes some ideas in which environment helps chemistry teachers to be able to conduct chemistry experiments without losing the chemistry concept. DOI: 10.15408/tjems.v1i2.1267

Abstract

AbstractThe Integration of Islam and Science has been applied in several countries both domestically and abroad. The Chemistry  Education Study Program has not yet implemented the integration of Islam and science, especially in the stoichiometry concept. Therefore, Chemistry Education at the Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University of Jakarta added the Program  Learning Outcome (PLO) is in the form of mastering the basic concepts of scientific, Islamic, and Indonesian integration in basic chemistry concept. This study aims to analyze the integration of Islam and science on the stoichiometry concept using the 4-STMD method. The 4-STMD method consists of the selection stage, the structuring stage, the characterization stage, and the reduction stage. The subjects used were 49 students of chemical education class of 2016/2017, one validator of integration experts, and three validators of media experts. The instrument used was in the form of mortar test questionnaire sheets and validation sheets for integration experts and media experts. The result shows that at the selection stage, the determination of the main textbook is the book written by Raymond Chang. In the structuring phase, a draft of the Islamic integrated teaching concept is obtained that ready to be tested. At the characterization, stage have a high level of comprehension test of 80.6% with the easy category. This shows that the integrated Islamic stoichiometry concept does not need to be carried out at the reduction stage. The results of the stoichiometric material feasibility test were 96.74% with very decent criteria. The integrated Islamic stoichiometry concept can be used as a reference source in the learning of integrated Islamic chemistry.AbstrakIntegrasi Islam dan Sains sudah diterapkan dibeberapa negara baik dalam negeri maupun luar negeri. Program Studi Pendidikan Kimia belum menerapkan integrasi islam dan sains terutama dalam materi stoikiometri. Oleh sebab itu, Pendidikan kimia Universitas Islam Negeri Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta menambahkan Program Learning Outcome (PLO) berupa menguasai konsep dasar integrasi keilmuwan, keislaman, dan keindonesiaan pada materi kimia dasar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis integrasi islam dan sains pada materi stoikiometri menggunakan metode 4-STMD.  Metode  4-STMD  terdiri dari tahap seleksi, tahap strukturisasi, tahap karakterisasi, dan tahap reduksi. Subjek yang digunakan adalah 49 mahasiswa pendidikan kimia angkatan 2016/2017, satu validator ahli integrasi, dan tiga validator ahli media. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa lembar angket tes rumpang dan lembar validasi ahli integrasi serta ahli media.  Hasil menunjukkan bahwa pada tahap seleksi dilakukan penentuan buku teks utama yaitu buku  karangan Raymond Chang. Pada Tahap stukturisasi diperoleh draft bahan ajar terintegrasi keislaman yang siap diujikan. Pada tahap karakterisasi  memiliki uji keterpahaman tingkat tinggi sebesar 80,6 % dengan kategori mudah. Hal ini menunjukkan materi stoikiometri terintegrasi keislaman tidak perlu dilakukan tahap reduksi. Hasil uji kelayakan materi stoikiometri sebesar 96,74 % dengan kriteria sangat layak. Materi stoikiometri terintegrasi keislaman yang dihasilkan dapat digunakan sebagai sumber referensi dalam pembelajaran kimia  terintegrasi keislaman. Abstract

AbstractStudents’ difficulties in chemistry subject are the main cause of their low rate to think creatively. Students with high adversity quotient are most likely to overcome the difficulties in finding a solution to answer the creative thinking problems. The objective of this research is to analyze the creative thinking ability in chemistry from the perspective of adversity quotient. The subjects of the study are 72 senior high school students from XII grade in Tangerang. The sampling applies a random sampling technique. Data collection technique is carried out by giving a test about chemical creative thinking skills in the form is essay question with 0,727 realibility scale. Adversity quotient data is obtained using a questionnaire scale with 0,652 realibility scale. The method used in this study is a descriptive qualitative and quantitative method. The result indicates that camper and quitter subjects are classified as creative and climber subjects are classified as very creative. The different aspects of students’ ability in solving problems can be used in mapping students' creative thinking abilities. As a recommendation, to improve creative thinking ability requires a high level of adversity quotient. Therefore, in this research students are expected to explore their creative thinking abilities in the learning process.AbstrakKesulitan siswa pada mata pelajaran kimia menjadikan rendahnya kemampuan berpikir kreatif. Siswa yang memiliki adversity quotient tinggi maka dapat mengatasi kesulitan untuk menemukan solusi jawaban dari soal berpikir kreatif. Tujuan dari penelitian adalah untuk menganalisis kemampuan berpikir kraetif kimia ditinjau dari adversity quotient. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas XII SMA di Kabupaten Tangerang yang  sebanyak 72 orang. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik random sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan melaksanakan tes kemampuan berpikir kreatif kimia berupa soal uraian dengan realibilitas sebesar 0,727. Data adversity quotient, diperoleh dengan menggunakan skala angket dengan realibilitas sebesar 0,652. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa subjek camper dan quitter tergolong kreatif dan Subjek dengan climber tergolong sangat kreatif. Perbedaan aspek kemampuan siswa dalam mengatasi kesulitan dapat digunakan dalam memetakan kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa. Sebagai rekomendasi, dengan memiliki tingkat adversity quotient yang tinggi dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kreatifnya. Abstract

Berdasarkan hasil PISA Tahun 2018, peringkat siswa Indonesia pada kategori Sains yaitu 71 dari 79 negara dengan memperoleh rata-rata sebesar 396 yang masih dalam kategori dibawah rata-rata internasional yaitu 500. Hal tersebut terjadi karena beberapa faktor, salah satunya yaitu siswa Indonesia masih memiliki keterampilan berpikir kritis yang rendah dalam menyelesaikan soal-soal berpikir tingkat tinggi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menumbuhkan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa melalui pemanfaatan multimedia interaktif pada materi Hidrokarbon. Sampel pada penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI IPA 2 dan XI IPA 3 yang berjumlah masing-masing 24 dan 25 siswa pada kelas kontrol dan eksperimen. Metode penelitian ini adalah Quasi Experiment dengan Nonrandomized Control Group Pre-test-Pottest Design. Instrumen penelitian ini berupa soal tes esai dan lembar observasi berdasarkan indikator keterampilan berpikir kritis. Data dianalisis menggunakan SPSS versi 22. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemanfaatan multimedia interaktif pada materi Hidrokarbon dapat menumbuhkan keterampilan berpikir kritis. Pertumbuhan keterampilan berpikir kritis paling besar terjadi pada indikator memfokuskan pertanyaan sebesar 88,12% dengan kategori sangat baik. Hasil analisis statistik menunjukkan adanya perbedaan rata-rata antara kelas kontrol dan eksperimen dengan taraf signifikan sebesar 0,00. Hal tersebut juga didukung dengan perolehan rata-rata kelas eksperimen (22) yang memperoleh hasil lebih besar dari rata-rata kelas kontrol (18,56). The use of interactive multimedia on hydrocarbon chapter to grow student’s critical thinking skill AbstractBased on PISA 2018 results, Indonesia ranked 71 out of  79 participant countries with results below the international average. This happens due to several factors, one of which is that Indonesian students have low critical thinking skills to solving high-order thinking test. This study aims to determine whether the use of interactive multimedia on hydrocarbon chapter is effective to make grow critical thinking skills. Sample in this study were students of XI IPA 2 and XI IPA 3 with 24 and 25 students each control and experimental classes. The research method is Quasi Experiment with Nonrandomized Control Group Pre-test-Pottest Design. The research instrument used essay test questions and observation sheets based on indicators of critical thinking skills. Data were analyzed by SPSS version 22. The result showed that interactive multimedia use on Hydrocarbon chapter was effective to grow critical thinking skills. The most critical thinking skill growth occurs in focusing questions indicator with 88,12% on very good category. Statistical analysis result showed there was difference average between control and experimental classes with significant level 0.00. That data also powered by average result of experimental classes (22) bigger then average result of control calsses (18,56).

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic that has occurred since the beginning of 2020 has caused chemistry practicum in the laboratory, which is an important part of learning chemistry, to not be carried out during the covid 19 pandemic. The purpose of this study is to analyze how the Chemistry Home Experiment builds science process skills during the pandemic. This research method is a mix method with a convergent design approach. The participants of this research were 96 first year students of chemistry education at UIN Syarif Hidayaullah. The instrument used in this study was an observation sheet consisting of 20 indicators from aspects of science process skills and documentation in the form of practicum videos and practicum reports. Analysis of the data using content analysis quantitatively and qualitatively. The results showed that aspects of science process skills that received very good predicates were aspects of observing/observing, aspects of grouping/classifying, aspects of using tools and materials, aspects of applying concepts and aspects of communicating. Aspects of interpreting and aspects of predicting received good predicates. As for the aspect that gets the predicate less is the hypothesis. Based on these results. From these studies and observations, it can be concluded that the Chemistry Home Experiment can build students' science process skills in learning basic chemistry during the pandemic.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of Inquiry-Based Learning (IBL) for students grade VIII’s scientific literacy skill based on the plant tissues concept. The method used in this research is a quasi-experimental method. The instrument used in this study is a science literacy test capabilities containing eight number of type Open-Constructed Response task which is follows the pattern of PISA’s framework and adapted the concept of plant tissues material. Observation sheet used to assess students in performing the learning stages of inquiry-based learning (IBL) particularly. The pretest and posttest in this experiment showed that there are  different result betwenscientifict literacy skill of students before and after the implementation learning model of inquiry-based learning (IBL). The scientifict literacy skill of students after the implementation  of IBL better than before the implementation. it is explained that the learning model of inquiry-based learning (IBL) affect the students’s scientific literacy skill apparently. Abstract

Islamic-integrated learning is one of the implementations in realizing UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta’s vision. So, the teaching materials which are integrated with Islamic features are needed. This research aims to develop a biochemistry teaching material in the form of an Islamic-integrated enrichment book specifically on the theory of amino acid and protein that is feasible to be used. The method used in this study is the research and development method through the Four Steps Teaching Material Development (4S-TMD), which consists of selection, structurization, characterization, and reduction. The research data are obtained from the validation of Islamic-integrated chemical study by expert lecturers. The validation result was analyzed using the Guttman Scale, a comprehensive test of concept in the form of the main idea writing test on 60 students of 2016 generation of chemistry education were analyzed by giving a score of 1 for each correct answer, and a score of 0 for wrong answers, and the book's feasibility test in terms of language, presentation, performance, and graphic validated by media expert lecturers, and were analyzed using the Rating Scale. The validation of the Islamic-integrated chemistry shows that all concepts are powerful and worthy of being presented, with the percentage of 91.4%. The comprehensive test of concept shows that all of the concepts have a high level of comprehension. The percentage of students’ comprehensions of all concepts amounted to 92.7%, and all of the concepts are included in the easy category. Therefore there is no need for a reduction phase. Based on the results of the feasibility test of the book, it is obtained the average percentage of 85.5%, which indicates that the Islamic-integrated enrichment book of amino acid and protein material is suitable to be used in the learning of Islamic-integrated biochemistry course to increase student knowledge on biochemical concepts through Islamic aspects which can increase the faith to Allah SWT.

Abstract

Berpikir kritis merupakan salah satu tujuan penting dalam pendidikan untuk menghadapi pembelajaran kimia abad ke-21 namun pada umumnya kemampuan tersebut masih rendah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kemampuan mahasiswa dalam menyelesaikan setiap soal two-tier berdasarkan indikator kemampuan berpikir kritis kimia dan level akademik mahasiswa. Metode penelitiannya deskriptif kualitatif pada 31 mahasiswa semester 2 tahun ajaran 2018/2019 Program Studi Pendidikan Kimia. Subjek dibagi atas tiga kelompok yaitu level kemampuan tinggi (14 orang), sedang (10 orang), dan rendah (7 orang). Instrumen yang digunakan berupa tes soal two-tier. Pengolahan keabsahan data menggunakan teknik triangulasi (mereduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa baik secara keseluruhan maupun berdasarkan level kemampuan kimia (tinggi, sedang, rendah) sudah memiliki kemampuan menjelaskan suatu konsep kimia (grafik titrasi) namun masih rendah dalam mambandingkan kekuatan asam basa berdasarkan ikatan O-H dan keelektronegatifan. Sehingga kemampuan berpikir kritis kimia yang dimiliki mahasiswa mampu mendorong dalam memahami konsep-konsep dasar kimia lebih mendalam agar dapat memberikan pemahaman pada tingkat makroskopis maupun mikroskopis.

Abstract

Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan suatu produk media pembelajaran berupa video animasi kimia terintegrasi keislaman pada materi struktur atom. Proses pengembangan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan model ADDIE yang terdiri dari dari analyze (analisis), design (perancangan), development (pengembangan), implementation (implementasi), dan evaluation (evaluasi). Hasil penelitian uji coba terbatas kepada mahasiswa diantaranya aspek minat terhadap media dengan presentase 84%, aspek penguasaan materi dengan presentase 83,30%, aspek integrasi sains dan islam dengan presentase 86,4%, aspek tampilan dengan presentase 83%, aspek keterlaksanaan dengan presentase 84,7%, serta aspek audio dengan presentase 84,1%. Sehingga secara keseluruhan uji coba terbatas kepada mahasiswa mendapatkan presentase 84,30% dengan kriteria sangat layak. Hasil penilaian produk video animasi oleh ahli media sebesar 82,50% untuk video 1, 83,75% untuk video 2, dan 82,50% untuk video 3. Sehingga video animasi yang dikembangkan dalam penelitian ini mendapat kriteria sangat layak.
