Abstract

This research aimed to determine the effect of Trichoderma spp. application inpeat medium of Shorea leprosula seedling quality and knowing the bestapplication doses of Trichoderma spp. to increase the growth of Shorea leprosulaseedling. The research used method completely randomized design (CRD) with of5 treatments and 10 replications. The treatment consisted of; T0 = Withoutapplication of Trichoderma spp. 0 gr/polybag; T1 = application of Trichodermaspp. 10 gr/polybag; T2 = application of Trichoderma spp. 20 gr/polybag; T3 =application of Trichoderma spp. 30 gr/polybag; T4 = application of Trichodermaspp. 40 gr/polybag. The research proved that the application of Trichoderma spp.in peat medium can increase the quality of Shorea leprosula seedling. Theapplication of Trichoderma spp. with a doses of 40 gr/polybag in peat medium isthe best treatment to the high growth (2.98 cm), diameter growth (1.56 mm), plantdry weight (3.09 gr) and top root ratio (2.65 gr).Keywords: Shorea leprosula, Trichoderma, peat medium

Abstract

Meranti (Shorea spp.) is an important commodity which is one of the major timber producing commercial plants in Indonesia. In worldwide trading, meranti group is divided into four major groups, namely: group of red meranti, yellow meranti group, white meranti group and group of turvy meranti. Purpose of the implementation of this study was to determine the availability, amount, and regeneration dominance of meranti (Shorea spp.) as well as a tree diagram in the profile Riau University Arboretum area. Techniques of data collection is done by using the method purposive sampling or transect lines. Entire observation contains regeneration sample plots, namely regeneration meranti much as 9 rods (2.76%) while  the  317  rods  (97.24%)  are  type  of  non  meranti.  Meranti  Shorea parvistipulata Heim  and  Shorea  parvifolia were found.  INP  at  a rate  of 0% seedling, sapling rate of 2.28%, 15.20% for poles and tree level of 57.03%.   Keyword : inventore, regeneration, meranti, arboretum

Abstract

The Pekanbaru city forest is one of the open green space alternatives in solvingenvironmental problems in urban areas, especially Pekanbaru. The existence of the forest city is stated in the Government Regulation No. 63 of 2002. The role of the civil society is needed in the policy implementation for the Pekanbaru city forest development. This research aimed to know the problems occurred through a society approach in the management of city forest and know the society role in the implementation of the policy of the Government Regulation No. 63 of 2002 of City Forest. This research was carried out in Jalan Thamrin the city forest of Pekanbaru Riau Province. The research used survey method with quantitative and qualitative analysis techniques. Quantitative analysis used the percentage formula for the assessment of the role of society against the tendency of the management of city forest. Qualitative analysis explained the implementation of the society role in the city forest management in the Government Regulation No. 63 of 2002 about city Forest.  The research results indicated three problems in Pekanbaru city forest are the public ignorance about the Government Regulation No. 63 of Forest City policy, the lack of infrastructure support and the limited maintenance fund of the city forest. The problems hamper the implementation of the Government Regulation No. 63 of 2002 about city forest which indicated the absence of the role of society in the Pekanbaru city forest development . Abstract

This research aimed to determine the effect of the role water immersion of Piper betle leaf. Protect Paraserianthes falcataria of seed quality and know the best dosage Piper betle leaf soaking in Paraserianthes falcataria maintain quality seed. The research method used in completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 4 replications. The treatment consisted of: S0=Paraserianthes falcataria soaking seeds without Piper betle leaves in 1 liter of water; S1=Paraserianthes falcataria soaking seeds with 100 g of Piper betle leaves in 1 liter of water; S2=Paraserianthes falcataria soaking seeds with 200 g of Piper betle leaves in 1 liter of water; S3=Paraserianthes falcataria soaking seeds with 300 g of Piper betle leaves in 1 liter of water. Research has shown that the Paraserianthes falcataria seeds soaking with water immersion Piper betle leaf able to maintain seed quality. Soaking seeds Paraserianthes falcataria with 300 g Piper betle leaves in 1 liter of water is the best treatment against the percentage of seed germination (81%), the rate of seed germination (3.42 days), increasing the height of drill (4.07 cm) and the time of seed germination (81% in 9 days). Abstract

Arboretum is a collection or chard trees with a particular area contains various types of trees planted wherever possible to follow their natural habitat and are intended as a biodiversity conservation area and at least be able to improve or maintain the climatic conditions around the city of Pekanbaru. Arboretum of University  of Riau region has an area of ±10 ha. Arboretum is located in Pekanbaru City with a height of 5-50 m above sea level. The average temperature is 28-29 0C Arboretum with average humidity is 74-75%. This study aims to determine the visitor understanding of the meaning and function of Arboretum of University of Riau. This study will be conducted at the Arboretum of University of Riau. This research was conducted in December 2014 and January 2015. This is a descriptive study that attempted to describe exactly what data is being investigated. Based on the results of the research shows that the overall level of understanding of the visitors to the arboretum has been relatively high. Based on the classification of educational level of understanding of visitors to the arboretum is dominated by the high school level (high) due to the Arboretum located in the campus environment. While based on the classification level of understanding of visitors to the arboretum age 10-20 years of age (High), 21-30 years (Medium).   Keywords:Arboretum, understanding of visitors, University of Riau

Abstract

Forest have a variety of functions for human life, either directly function in supporting the socio-economic life of everyday people, as well as indirect. Interaction between humans and forest occured a very long time in various National Park, this research has been conducted in the village of Rantau Langsat Sub-District of Batang Gansal Indragiri Hulu District Riau Province. This study was conducted in January-February 2015. The results of this study indicate that the socio-economic characteristics based on; age are productive working age of 22-65 years that is equal to 29.41%, the level of education is largely elementary school and that is equal to 94.11%, the majority of farmers have a number of family members 6 at 29.41%, revenues between Rp.250,000 to Rp. 750,000 amounted to 41.18%, community livelihood as rubber farmers are 88,23% and as much as 91,17% of the people have  land. Forms of interaction that occurred between community with the Bukit Tiga Puluh National Park is a ectractive pattern.  Keywords : Interaction, Forest Community, Utilization, Forest Product

Abstract

Many trees find in the forest. One of trees is Adenanthera pavonina L. The part of Adenanthera pavonina L. such as seeds, leafs, and woods still used. One benefit of Adenanthera pavonina L. seeds are for cultivation. There are some obstacles on Adenanthera pavonina L. germination where the seeds still has dormancy period. To break the dormancy could be used water The aim of this research was to investigated the effect of water submerged time and investigated the best of water submerged time to Adenanthera pavonina L. germination. This research was arrange on Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 3 repeatizations. The treatments was the submergence time which was 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours. The test of the similarity range were done by SAS 9.13 Portable furthermore the comparison of average values were done by Duncan New’s Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) with a 5% confidence interval. The results of this research showed that Adenanthera pavonina L. seeds has effected to water submerged time. The effect of submerged time of seedAdenanthera pavonina L. for 72 hours was the best percentation of capacity germination at 32,66%, germination of seed at 29,33% and rate of seed germination at 6,6 days. Abstract

The increased number of vehicles are getting bigger every year, including in Pekanbaru. One of the air pollution sources come from vehicle. The exhaust from vehicle contains harmful heavy metals, for example is the lead. Tuanku Tambusai Street (Nangka Street) is one of the crowded streets in Pekanbaru which have a quite large heavy metals that emitted into the air. Lead is harmful to human health and the environment, so shade plants needs to be planted as bio-indicators. However, not all plants have the same ability to absorb the lead. This study aims to determine the amount of lead content in shade plants on Tuanku Tambusai street, in Pekanbaru city and to know the type of shade plants and canopy strata that most absorb to the lead. This study uses a Wet Ashing Method for the destruction the sample, then it is analyzed using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS). The results shows that the leaf Polyalthia longifolia Bent. & Hook. F. is 1.88 µg/g higher than Pterocarpus indicus Willd. 1.57 µg/g and Swietenia macrophylla 1.16 µg/g. Lead content in the middle of the canopy strata (1.72 µg/g) is higher than the content of lead in the bottom of the canopy strata (1.52 µg/g) and the upper canopy strata (1.38 µg/g). Keywords: lead, shade plants, Polyalthia longifolia, Pterocarpus indicus, Swietenia macrophylla

Abstract

Samanea saman tree species that have great ability to absorb carbon dioxide from the air. Samanea samangrowthnot be separated from the problem of pests and diseases. Pests that attack Samanea samanand often result in losses that Plusia sp. Indonesia has a very diverse flora, contains quite a lot of kinds of plants which are sources of pesticides that can be used for pest control. The use ofCerbera manghasleaf extractas a botanical pesticide for controlling Plusia sp. of the Samanea saman is an alternative that can be used as an environmentally friendly pesticide.This research aimed to know the effect ofCerbera manghas leaf extract in controlling Plusia sp. and determine the exact concentration of the level of Plusia sp. mortality of the Samanea saman.This research uses a Completely Randomized Design Method, which consists of 5 treatments and 4 replicates with concentration levels of botanical pesticide. B0 = concentration Cerbera manghas leaf extract 0 g/l of water; B1 = 5 g/l of water; B2 = 10 g/l of water; B3 = 15 g/l of wate;B4 = 20 g/l of water. The results showed that the application of Cerbera manghas leaf extract at the concentration of 20 g/l of water is the best concentration in controlling Plusia sp. with results initial time of death fastest is 3.00 hours, the fastest time of turning off 50% (LT50) is 11.25 hours (11 hours 15 minutes) and total mortality amounted to 92.50%. Keywords:Samanea saman, Plusiasp., Cerbera manghas leaf, botanical pesticide

Abstract

Diversityof tree speciescan be foundin the forest. One of diversity of tree species is Adenanthera pavonina L. Adenanthera pavonina L. used tree parts such as seed, leaves andwood. One of the seed used forcultivation. Germination of Adenanthera pavonina L. still thereobstacles which Adenanthera pavonina L. Seed has dormanty time. Skerification can be used by Sulfuric Acid (H2SO4). This research aims to find out seed immersion effect used H2SO4 and  knowing better seed immersion time of germination Adenanthera pavonina L. This research compiled in Completely Randomize Design (CRD) with3treatments and 3 replications. The treatment inthis study wasa longtimeimmersionfor 10 minutes, 20minutes and30minutes. Datawere analyzedbyanalysis of varianceusingPortableSAS.9.1.3. Subsequentlyfollowed bymultiplerange testDNMRTlevel of 5%. Research resultsobtainedisa longtimeimmersioneffect onseed germinationsaga. The length of timeit is best toseedimmersionfor 30minuteswith germinationof48.66%, germinationpercentage ofthe seeds of 32,66%andthe seedsgerminateaverageof 6.75days.
