Abstract

The use of old modern dressings cost a lot, so wound practitioners use alternative dressings (sanitary napkins). Identify the use of alternative dressings for chlorine residues and the process of healing diabetic foot injury (LKD). Quasi experimental research design with one group pre and post approach, 10 samples were intervened with alternative pads in the form of sanitary napkins used after wound care. Sanitary pads are used on one wound for a type of dressing based on the area of the wound. Intervention for 12 days with dressing changes per 2 days. Examination of residual chlorine (Spectrophotometry UV-Vis) based on the wound with swab techniques on days 1, 6 and 12, while the healing process with a standard instrument that is Diabetis Foot Ulcer Assessment Scale (DFUAS). Chlorine residues of days 1, 6 and 12 were 0.6837, 2.4477 and 2.7927 ppm with p = 0.001. The average DFUAS scores of days 1, 6 and 12 are 29.6, 27.7 and 24.6 with p = 0.005. Thus a significant increase in residual chlorine at the wound bed but DFUAS scores continued to decline. An increase in chlorine residue on days 6 and 12 of treatment using alternative dressings of sanitary napkins and DFUAS scores decreased. It is recommended for wound practitioners to evaluate Diabetic Foot Injuries when using alternative dressings (sanitary napkins).

Abstract

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disorder characterized by hyperglycemia due to abnormalities in insulin secretion, insulin action or both and is one of the largest contributors to death in the world. Prevention of DM complications is by ensuring that blood glucose levels in the body remain controlled, efforts made through four pillars of DM management, one of which is providing education. Nurses as educators can provide education to increase knowledge regarding changes in attitudes and behavior of DM sufferers thereby increasing compliance and quality of life. Objective: of this research is to determine the effect of education on glycemic control in people with type 2 diabetes mellitus in the work area of the Central Fakfak Community Health Center. Method: used in this research is a case study design with analytical descriptive research type using 2 research subjects, data collection was carried out using the DKQ questionnaire and a glucometer to measure glycemic levels. Results: This study shows that pre-test and post-test measurements using the DKQ questionnaire increased both respondents' knowledge with the blood glucose test while respondent 1 experienced a decrease of 19 mg/dl and respondent 2 experienced a decrease of 68 mg/dl. after several weeks of education given in three visits. Conclusion: in this study, education can increase knowledge of self-management and behavior as well as motivation to be healthy so that it can control the glycemic levels of someone with DM.

Abstract

Constipation is often found in intensive care patients in hospitals. Abdominal Massage (AM) is a gentle massage on the abdomen that has been used as a massage therapy for clients with constipation. The Purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of abdominal massage in patients with constipation. Methods used quasi experiment there were 20 respondents in the HCU neurosurgery room divided into 10 intervention groups and 10 control groups. Results of this study found that the degree of constipation decreased significantly in the intervention group and increased significantly in the control group (P = 0,008). After the intervention, the prevalence of constipation decreased significantly in the intervention group. Conclusion of this study that Abdominal Massage is effective in reducing the degree of constipation in patients treated at high care unit (HCU) neurosurgery
