Abstract

Bahasa Inggris perlu dipelajari sebagai salah satu bahasa internasional saat ini. Namun, terdapat kendala dalam mempelajarinya, utamanya dalam membedakan kelas kata. Kemudian, untuk mengatasinya, perlu adanya inovasi dan kreativitas dalam pembelajaran seperti menggunakan permainan didalam kelas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat dampak dari permainan dalam peningkatan kemampuan membedakan kelas kata. Terdapat 22 partisipan dalam penelitian ini. Mereka adalah mahasiswa semester awal di salah satu Universitas negeri di Madura. Peneliti menyebar angket sebagai data awal, kemudian melakukan pretest dan posttest. Penelitian dilakukan dalam satu kali pertemuan dan menunjukkan hasil yang signifikan dari pretest dan posttest. Hasilnya, permainan yang diimplementasikan ternyata memberikan kenaikan 40% terhadap kemampuan mahasiswa dalam membedakan kelas kata. Mahasiswa yang merupakan andragogy learner perlu difasilitasi dengan metode pembelajaran yang lebih bervariatif seperti permainan kata.

Abstract

Batik is an Indonesian cultural heritage that has high artistic value and rich in philosophy. However, the younger generation's awareness of batik, especially among elementary school students, is still relatively low. This research aims to develop an effective educational approach in socializing the various motives and philosophy of batik to elementary school students. The approach involved interactive learning methods through visualization stories and interactive question-and-answer discussions designed to foster children's appreciation and understanding of batik. The result shows the increasing students' experiences and perspectives in understanding the uniqueness and philosophical meaning behind each batik motif. This educational approach is expected to strengthen cultural identity from an early age and build a sense of pride in the nation's cultural heritage.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a crucial role in Indonesia's national economic development. One sector with significant development potential is the batik industry, particularly handwritten batik (batik tulis) found in Tanjungbumi, Bangkalan, Madura. However, many batik artisans continue to rely on traditional sales methods, which restrict their market reach. This community service activity aims to enhance the branding and digital marketing capabilities of batik artisans through training on utilizing social media as a promotional tool. The implementation method consists of three stages: preparation, coordination, and educational activities. The training focuses on optimizing social media platforms, creating engaging content, and effectively using hashtags. Risk mitigation topics, such as adding watermarks to content, were also introduced to prevent unauthorized copying of batik patterns. The results indicate an improved understanding among artisans regarding the significance of branding and digital marketing strategies. The participants expressed great enthusiasm and were motivated to apply the knowledge gained. This activity demonstrates that support from higher education institutions can encourage artisans to adapt to technological advancements and enhance their product competitiveness. A recommendation arising from this activity is the need for ongoing support and advanced digital training to ensure batik artisans are better prepared to compete in the digital era.
