Abstract

Nepenthes is a unique carnivores plant that can be found in Padat Karya forest, Krayan at the North Kalimantan. The existence of these plants can be used as a media of learning so that learning activities become more contextual. The aims of this study are 1) to know the diversity of Nepenthes in Padat Karya forest, 2) to determine the feasibility of learning media in the form of poster developed from the results of the Nepenthes diversity research. This research consisted of two stages. The first was research stage which involved inventory, identification, and diversity index determination of Nepenthes. The second stage was development research i.e developing the results gained from the first stage into poster form. The research and development model employed in this study was the modified-Borg and Gall (2006) model. There were five steps conducted, namely (1) need analysis, (2) planning, (3) develop the preliminary form of product, (4) preliminary field testing, and (5) main product revision. The results showed that the diversity index value of Nepenthes was categorized as ‘medium’. In addition, based on the validation and response obtained, the poster developed was feasible to be utilized as a learning media in senior high school.

Abstract

Tarakan city has a potential local fishery resources which have not been considered and utilized optimally, one of which is fish Mudskipper / Tempakul (mudskipper). Mudskipper one of Gobiidae Family: subfamily Oxudercinae that resemble amphibians living and liked the muddy area scattered Mangrove coastal waters. One of the basic information that is needed is to know the variation of morphological characters mudskipper in Tarakan and characterization fenetic distance between populations. Morphological characters examined included morphometric studies, meristics and special characters of this fish. This research is a descriptive quantitative and qualitative descriptive, with a survey approach. This study founded four species of Mudskipper fish that live in the habitat settlements, open land, sea and mangrove and Juata areas. There are: Peripothalamus malaccensis, Periopthalmodon freycineti, Baleophthalmus boddarti and Periopthalamus barbarus. Dendogram of morphological analysis obtained by the two groups branch, that is Periophthalmus malaccensis and Periopthalmus barbarus clade with Periophthalmodon freycineti and Baleopthlamus boddarti form different branching. Grouping of mudskipper fish differentiated based on five main morphometric characters.  There are: SL: standard length, HL: length of the head, FDFB: first dorsal fin base length, SDFB: second dorsal fin base length, and VFL: long ventral fins.Keywords : morphology, Mudskipper, biodiversity, Oxudercinae, relationship

Abstract

Tarakan merupakan salah satu kota di Kalimantan Utara yang memiliki kekayaan biodiversitas, terutama keragaman tumbuhan di hutan tropis.  Berbanding terbalik dengan luasnya hutan dan banyaknya sumber daya, pembelajaran di Sekolah Dasar di Kota Tarakan sangat kurang kontekstual dalam memperkenalkan kekayaan hutan kepada siswa.  SDN 045 Tarakan sebagai sekolah mitra berlokasi di sekitar hutan tropis, akan tetapi pembelajarannya sangat jarang memanfaatkan potensi hutan tropis. Penanggulangan permasalahan kurang kontekstualnya pembelajaran di Sekolah Dasar adalah dengan memberikan bimbingan teknik pengembangan media berbasis potensi lokal dalam bentuk herbarium. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan ini terdiri dari 5 tahapan, yaitu: observasi, persiapan, penyusunan panduan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi. Hasil kegiatan ini didapatkan bahwa pada tes identifikasi tumbuhan pada guru terdapat kenaikan nilai dari rata-rata nilai 35 (pre-test) dan 85.4 (pos-test). Penilaian psikomotorik (keterampilan) pembuatan herbarium guru didapat nilai yang baik, dengan rata-rata nilai tiap aspek >80. Penilaian produk herbarium juga didapatkan nilai yang sangat baik dengan rata-rata nilai tiap aspek >80.

Abstract

Penelitian tentang Identifikasi Tumbuhan Berkhasiat Obat dan Pemanfaatannya di Desa Suka Mulia Kabupaten Aceh Tamiang telah dilakukan pada bulan Maret 2019. Tujuan untuk mengetahui keragaman tumbuhan berkhasiat obat yang dimanfaatkan oleh masyarakat yang tumbuh di sekitar Desa Suka Mulia Kabupaten Aceh Tamiang. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode jelajah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tumbuhan berkhasiat obat yang tumbuh di sekitar Desa Suka Mulia Kecamatan Rantau Kabupaten Aceh Tamiang dijumpai 25 familia, dan 30 spesies. Jenis yang terbanyak dimanfaatkan oleh masyarakat Desa suka mulia adalahPsidium guajava L (jambu biji), Ceiba pentandra (daun kapuk), Souropus androgynus (daun katuk), Isotoma longiflora (melati katarak), Jatropha curcas L (daun jarak), Area catechu (buah pinang) dan Piper betle L. (daun sirih). Jumlah jenis yang dimanfaatkan di Dusun Melati 6 Spesies, Dusun Mawar 6 spesies, Dusun cempaka 6 spesies, dusun nusa indah 6 spesies dan Dusun Anggrek 6 spesies, sedangkan spesies yang jarang dimanfaatkan yaitudaun Tamarindus indica (asam jawa), Carica papaya L (daun pepaya) dan Tagetes erecta L (bunga tahi ayam). Bagian organ tumbuhan yang paling banyak digunakan sebagai obat alternatif adalah daun, sedangkan yang paling sedikit digunakan adalah kulit batang.

Abstract

Proses belajar mengajar merupakan kegiatan yang dapat dimanfaatkan oleh pendidik untuk mengkonstruksi pengetahuan peserta didiknya. Pemahaman konsep memiliki peranan yang sangat penting dalam kegiatan belajar mengajar dan merupakan dasar dalam mencapai hasil belajar. Pemahaman konsep yang dimiliki oleh mahasiswa dapat digunakan untuk menyelesaikan suatu permasalahan yang ada kaitannya dengan konsep yang dimiliki. Dalam hal pemahaman konsep, mahasiswa tidak hanya sebatas mengenal, tetapi harus dapat menghubungkan satu konsep dengan konsep lainnya. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengukur tingkat pemahaman konsep mahasiswa Pendidikan Biologi pada matakuliah fisiologi tumbuhan. Penelitian ini merupakan jenis penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data diketahui bahwa rata-rata nilai pemahaman konsep mahasiswa Pendidikan Biologi pada matakuliah fisiologi tumbuhan berada pada kategori cukup. Indikator pemahaman konsep dengan persentase tertinggi yaitu indikator kemampuan memberi contoh dari konsep yang telah dipelajari dengan persentase 92,59%, sedangkan indikator dengan persentase terendah yaitu indikator kemampuan mengaitkan berbagai konsep yang telah dipelajari dengan persentase 0% untuk salah satu kelas sampel. Faktor penyebab rendahnya pemahaman konsep mahasiswa yaitu sulit memahami soal, kemampuan akademik yang berbeda, kompleksitas materi fisiologi tumbuhan, retensi yang lemah, serta proses pembelajaran yang kurang mendukung

Abstract

Hyptis capitata Jacq. (common name: Knobweed or False Ironwort) belongs to Lamiaceae family and is among known traditional medicine. The Anak Dalam Tribe of Jambi Province uses the leaves of H. capitata to cure external and internal wounds. This study was aimed at identifying and analyzing secretory structure, histochemistry and phytochemical content of H. capitata leaves.  The results showed that H. capitata leaves have secretory structures in the form of peltate, capitate and uniseriate glandular trichomes on the upper and lower leaf surfaces, with idioblast cells scattered throughout the leaf mesophyll. Histochemical tests indicated that the peltate trichomes have four head cells, containing alkaloids and terpenoids. This study classified capitate trichomes into two types: 1. type I has one stalk cell and two head cells, all containing  alkaloids, terpenoids and lipophilic compounds; 2. type II has long stalk cells consisting of seven to ten cells with one head cell, all containing alkaloids and terpenoids. Uniseriate glandular trichomes of H. capitata leaves consist of four to eight cells containing alkaloids and terpenoids. The idioblast cells are round-shaped and contain lipophilic compounds. GC-MS analysis showed that H. capitata leaves  contain terpenoid compounds assumed to serve as anti-infective agents, including l-limonene, eugenol, farnesol isomers A, d-nerolidol, hexahydrofarnesol and neophytadiene.

Abstract

in the family Lamiaceae are very widely used by humans because these plants commonly contain aromatic compounds such as Rosmarinus Officianalis, Hyptis capitata etc. Various plants species that have been studied, especially plant extracts from the family Lamiaceae reveal the content of compounds and prospects for their benefits to humans. The results of a review of various studies revealed that the species of the family Lamiaceae generally has the potential as an antimicrobial, antidiabetic, antioxidant, anti-tumor, anti-immobility, anti-inflammatory, antifungal, Anti-Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus, traditional medicine and the pharmaceutical industry etc. Compounds found in the species of family Lamiaceae which have the potential as a drug are very diverse such as eugenol, thymol, Triterpena, ursolic acid, oleanolic acid and micrometric acid, types of terpenoids, alkaloids, flavonoids etc.
