Abstract

The aims of this article is to find out how the effects of omega 3 supplementation and physical exercise on the inflammatory response. The method applied is literature review. The results showed that omega 3 supplementation and regular exercise can reduce the inflammatory response that is not controlled. Inflammation is a protective response caused by injury or tissue damage. After physical activity the body will experienced an increase in inflammatory markers, namely C-Reactive Protein (CRP), Interleukin 1 (IL-1), Interleukin 6 (IL-6), Interleukin 10 (IL-10) and Tumor Necrosis Factor-a (TNF-a). Physical exercise, especially high-intensity eccentric exercises, will cause damage to muscle fibers and delayed muscle pain (DOMS) which results in disruption to muscle strength. Muscle pain is caused by an inflammatory process due to increased levels (TNF-a) in response to muscle damage. Inflammatory response that is not controlled can be controlled by giving omega 3 supplementation. It can be concluded that omega 3 supplementation and regular exercise are proven to reduce the inflammatory response that is not controlled, soto reduce the intensity of pain which support the performance in carrying out the exercise program.

Abstract

A sedentary lifestyle is a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease, especially in women who are overweight. High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) has been known as an effective exercise method in improving cardiometabolic health. This study aims to analyze the effect of HIIT on total cholesterol levels in overweight women with a sedentary lifestyle. The research method used an experimental design with two groups, namely the treatment group that underwent a HIIT program for several weeks and the control group that did not undergo exercise. The results showed that there was a significant difference in changes in total cholesterol levels between the treatment group and the control group, where the group that did HIIT experienced a greater decrease in cholesterol levels. These findings support that HIIT has the potential to be an effective intervention to lower total cholesterol levels in populations at risk of cardiovascular disorders. HIIT can be a practical and efficient alternative for individuals with limited time to manage their heart and metabolic health.

Abstract

Incidents of injuries that were experienced by track and field athletes in training and matches that are not handled properly. As a result, injury recovery is not always ideal, putting athletes at risk for more serious injuries. This study aims to evaluate the types and treatment of injuries that occur in athletes from the Indonesian Athletics Association (PASI) in East Java Province. This research was conducted in cross-sectional with descriptive and comparative data analysis methods. There were 141 athletic athletes aged 17.97 ± 2.314 years participated in this study. Different test analysis was carried out based on gender, age, and number of competitions that were followed. The instrument used is a questionnaire whose statement items have been tested for validity using Pearson Product Moment and show valid results (p-value <0.05). The results of the normality test showed that the data did not have a normal distribution (p-value <0.05). The non-parametric test showed no significant differences in the perception of injury management based on gender, age, and match number (p-value > 0.05). Furthermore, on the athlete's knowledge, the majority of athletes still believe in traditional handling and do not know first aid for injuries using the Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation (RICE) method.

Abstract

This research investigates the understanding and challenges of implementing Olympic Values—Excellence, Friendship, and Respect—in Indonesia's sports education. While the International Olympic Committee (IOC) promotes these values to foster ethical behavior among athletes, their integration into Indonesian universities faces significant obstacles due to limited awareness and institutional support. Utilizing a quantitative descriptive approach, data were collected from 178 respondents, including students and lecturers, who had not participated in the ASEAN University Games (AUG). Results indicated that 67% of respondents demonstrated a good understanding of Olympic Values, with 41% emphasizing their importance in daily life and sports. Social media (45%) was identified as the primary source of information. However, challenges persist, such as a lack of awareness (28.1%), insufficient curriculum integration (16.9%), and inadequate resources (14%). The study concludes that while awareness of Olympic Values exists, significant efforts are required to enhance their practical application. Recommendations include increasing institutional support, revising curricula, and improving resource allocation to better incorporate Olympic Values in Indonesian sports education.
