Abstract

East Java has a prevalence of NCD exceeding the national average. Limited information on the disease clustering makes less optimal policy-making for preventing and controlling. This study aims to cluster areas and identify NCD risk factors. The study used secondary data from Basic Health Research in 2018. The data was analyzed using FCM. There were 3 clusters resulting from this research. In Cluster 1, the average proportion of all NCD's and 33.33% of the NCD's risk factors exceeds the average proportion of the province. In Cluster 2, the average proportion of 1 NCD and 77.78% of the NCD's risk factors exceeds the average proportion of the province. In Cluster 3, all NCD's have an average proportion less than the average proportion in the province and 22.22% of the NCD's risk factors have an average proportion exceeding the average proportion in the province. Cluster 1 is the cluster with the average proportion of NCD's exceeding the average proportion of NCD's in the province and the highest among the other clusters. Cluster 2 is a cluster with an area with risk factors for NCD's with the highest average proportion of the different clusters.  Keywords: NCDs, analysis cluster, fuzzy c-means

Abstract

People with severe mental disorder (PSMD; Orang Dengan Gangguan Jiwa, ODGJ) are a vulnerable group of people who experience loss of their rights to life because of their mental limitations, namely the right to work and earn an income independently. In previous activities, there was an opportunity for PSMD to recover through a series of training. To achieve recovery, it is necessary to hold a patient selection program so that patients who take part in the training series are not in the acute phase. Mental health cadres who are close to the community have a big role in determining which PSMD will then take part in entrepreneurship training activities. Therefore, mental health cadres need to deepen their insight into mental disorders and increase their empowerment in patient selection programs for PSMD. This activity aims to increase the understanding of mental health cadres regarding mental disorders and increase their empowerment in implementing patient selection programs for PSMD. The method used was by conducting outreach to mental health cadres regarding the topic of mental disorders as well as providing patient selection program training to mental health cadres. Before counseling and training, a 10-minute pre-test was conducted for the participants, then continued with an outreach and training session as well as questions and answers and discussions for approximately 60 minutes, and at the end a 10-minute post-test was carried out. The results showed an increase in pre-test and post-test data on the topic of mental disorders as well as an increase in empowerment by mental health cadre participants in carrying out patient selection programs. Community service activities regarding patient selection program training for mental health cadres in developing independent businesses for PSMD families in the Gresik district have provided improvements to mental health cadres, namely in the form of increased insight regarding mental disorders and increased empowerment in carrying out patient selection programs for PSMD.

Abstract

During the COVID-19 pandemic, computer vision syndrome (CVS) caused by the implementation of online learning was an inevitable effect. This study aimed to test the effectiveness of using the Eye Care and Eye Pro Protect Your Vision applications as a step to treat and prevent the severity of CVS. A total of 16 students who participated in virtual classroom learning (81.20% female, 87.50% laptop users with heavy duration, 93.70% experienced CVS) were included. The most frequent symptom in CVS subjects was eye pain (96.5%), while the most intense symptom was a feeling of double vision (15.9%). The use of applications can significantly reduced the duration of laptop use (p=0.025) using the Mc Nemar test. The Eye Care application reduced symptoms by 75%, while the Eye Pro was 62.5%. The Eye Care application can provide a decrease in the duration of screen time and provide rest time for better eyes. Recommendations for preventing CVS based on causal factors can be adjusted to reduce the burden of online study, increase rest time and use screen time reminder applications.

Abstract

Introduction: Domestic waste management, which is a provincial-level program, is expected to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions for the sustainability of climate control efforts in Indonesia. Given this context, it is necessary to conduct a carbon efficiency analysis in Indonesia based on domestic waste management efforts. Methods: This study used an observational research design with a cross-sectional time approach. This study predicted the reduction in carbon emissions based on domestic waste management using causal machine learning by analyzing data on GHG emissions and domestic waste management from all provinces in Indonesia. An advantage of causal machine learning is its ability to assess the impact of treatment (domestic waste management) on the results (GHG emissions), as well as mitigating the effects of confounding variables. Results and Discussion: Despite improvements in waste management, several provinces experienced increased waste production, particularly from domestic waste and plastic waste. Analysis using the R programming language revealed that waste management is a significant variable (p = 0.011). However, data limitations posed challenges to comprehensive analysis. Conclusion: Achieving carbon efficiency requires serious waste management efforts. All provinces and cities/regencies must actively participate in program implementation. Routine reporting is essential to monitor the progress toward reducing GHG emissions.

Abstract

Wastewater originating from hospital waste is a very potential source of water pollution. Based on assessment data, the pollutant content in waste water, the impact and volume of waste produced and the low efficiency of hospital Waste Water Treatment Installations (IPAL) in Indonesia. Making hospital waste water needs to be treated with appropriate processing technology. Therefore, an analysis of the liquid waste management system was carried out in the waste water management installation at the East Java Community Eye Hospital. This research uses a qualitative method with a case study design. This research involved 1 informant as a resource person, The data collection techniques in this study were observation and in-depth interviews, which were then analyzed using method triangulation. This research shows that in the output process, laboratory test results for waste water samples were obtained for all parameters which were below the threshold values except for temperature, ammonia, phosphate and coliform levels which exceeded the predetermined threshold values. Researchers concluded that the liquid waste management system at RSMM East Java was completely adequate both in terms of input, process and output, but there were several systems that did not work optimally. The advice given to hospitals is to regularly check waste inlets, facilities and infrastructure, plan further processing, and increase human resources.

Abstract

Poor drainage systems in densely populated areas contribute to increased humidity and the growth of pathogenic microorganisms, which indirectly affect the risk of TB infection. Stagnant water caused by clogged drainage channels can be a source of various infectious diseases, including respiratory infections. Furthermore, unhealthy environmental conditions can weaken the immune system, making people more susceptible to TB infection. In RT 22 RW 02, an investigation revealed that household wastewater disposal is still inadequate. The densely populated area means residents no longer have the space to build infiltration wells for their household wastewater. To dispose of household wastewater, residents channel wastewater into a puddle that lacks a secondary drainage system, resulting in wastewater accumulating there. As can be imagined, this puddle emits an unpleasant odor and can become a breeding ground for mosquitoes and pathogens, seriously threatening residents' health. Even when it rains, water from the puddle overflows onto the road, producing an unpleasant odor. The goal of this community service activity is to increase residents' understanding of healthy environmental sanitation, particularly regarding household wastewater disposal, and to work with residents to improve drainage for household waste disposal. During 3 months, from May-July 2025, the community services of a lecturer from Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Surabaya (Unusa), together with community self-help, we succeeded in building a 150-meter-long drainage system for disposing of household waste into the nearest river so that there is no more stagnant waste that produces an unpleasant odor.
