Abstract

AbstractThis research was conducted based on the observation that learning carried out in the classroom on social studies subjects is always done by only using the lecture method. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the application of the cooperative learning model picture and picture in improving student learning outcomes in social studies subjects in class VII of 12 Middle School in Siak Hamlet, Durian Village, Sungai Ambawang District, Kubu Raya District. The method used is Quasi Experiment Design with the research design used is Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The sample of this study was 52 students. The results of data analysis showed that student learning outcomes between the experimental class and the control class did not experience significant differences. Evidenced by the results of the average post-test seen in the untreated control class that is 70. In the experimental class that was treated by using the cooperative learning model picture and picture the average post-test score of students was increased by 80. This is proportional straight with the level of effect size obtained that is equal to 0.659. This achievement is classified as moderate. This means that student learning outcomes using cooperative learning models picture and picture and learning outcomes of students who do not use the cooperative learning model picture and picture are not much different. Keywords:  Effectiveness, Learning Model, Picture and Picture Cooperative, Learning Outcomes

Abstract

The process of image formation in optical instruments such as the eye, magnifying glass, microscope, telescope, and camera is an important part of learning geometric optics. These concepts are often considered difficult and abstract by students, as the path of light and the process of image formation cannot be directly observed. The conceptual experimental method is used to identify the physical concepts in optical phenomena and translate them into 2D simulations in Algodoo. This study consists of three steps: (1) designing an experiment using Algodoo to model the image formation phenomenon, (2) configuring optical instruments, light sources, rays, and lenses to achieve image formation that aligns with its physical concepts, and (3) conceptually analyzing the simulation results and observing students while using the simulation. The results of the study show that this image formation experiment can be easily understood by students. This is evidenced by the fact that students were able to independently conduct the image formation simulation. Therefore, it can be concluded that the 2D simulation software Algodoo can be used effectively to design image formation experiments in optical instruments.

Abstract

Purpose: This community service initiative on the impact of physical exercise on community health in Bromsi Island, Biak Numfor Regency, focuses on the prevention of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and improving overall quality of life through structured exercise activities. Methodology/approach: The community service program consisted of (1) surveys and discussions with educators, staff, and students; (2) obtaining permits from local authorities; (3) socializing the importance of exercise; (4) presenting the health benefits of exercise; (5) organizing group exercise sessions; and (6) monitoring and evaluating the impact on the community. Results/findings: The program increased public awareness of physical activity, promoted healthy lifestyles, and decreased NCD cases, positively affecting the local economy and community productivity. Conclusion: From an epidemiological perspective, regular physical activity has been shown to help prevent non-communicable diseases in the community of Bromsi Island. Limitations: Challenges include inadequate sports facilities and limited local support. The effectiveness of these programs varied according to community participation. Contribution: This study offers insights for evidence-based health policies and highlights the need to integrate health education with physical activity to enhance community well-being. These findings can guide the promotion of exercise as a preventive strategy against NCDs, fostering a supportive environment for healthy lifestyles.
