Abstract

Post Ovulatory Egg Stasis or dystocia is difficulty releasing eggs. The incident was experienced by a female snake due to an obstructive tract. A four years old corn snake (Pantherophis guttatus) female with clinical symptoms that appear are anorexia for two weeks. The condition of the coelomic cavity is still large after 7 days of laying eggs. The results of physical examination showed that the snake had a distended coelomic cavity, pale mucous membrane, hard and smooth palpation when palpated. The results of x-ray examination showed that there was an oval radiopaque formation in the coelomic cavity. Coeliotomy surgery is performed to remove the eggs by the salpingotomy method. The general anesthetic used was a combination of zolazepam-tiletamine at a dose of 10 mg/kg body weight and meloxicam 0,1 mg/kg body weight was given. Postoperative therapy was oxytetracycline 10 mg/kg body weight, dexamethasone 5 mg/kg body weight and vigantol EĀ® 0,1 mg/kg body weight. The general condition of the snake after 5 days improved and the wound had dried up. Then 2 weeks after surgery the stitches in the skin were removed when shedding of the skin.

Abstract

A golden hornbill (Rhyticeros undulates), male, one year old, reported clinical signs that one of the legs was limping. Based on the X-ray examination reported that there was a fracture of the tibiotarsus bone. External skeletal fixation (ESF) was performed for connecting bones using size 1,2 pins. The general anesthetic used was a combination of zolazepam-tiletamine at a dose of 5 mg/kgBW and given 0,1 mg/kgBW meloxicam. Postoperative therapy includes enrofloxacin at a dose of 15 mg/kg intramuscularly, dexamethasone at a dose of 0,2 mg/kgBW intramuscularly, and OsteocareĀ® at a dose of 5 mg/kg orally. After five days postoperatively, the bird's condition had returned to normal. It can be concluded that fractures in birds can be treated using the ESF method.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to detect blood parasites of stray cats with an MDT staining test. Total samples were 40 blood taken from 4 markets in Surabaya, every market took 10 samples of stray cats. Three (3) cc Blood took from vena cephalica antebrachial anterior or vena saphena. Then blood samples were stained using MDT and checked under microscope 1000 magnification. The result showed 7 positive (17,5%) Anaplasma sp from 40 samples. This study needs advanced diagnosis using PCR, antibody detection (IFA test), ELISA, and western immunoblot assay although blood staining was detected by the agent.

Abstract

This research aimed to identify if there is a relationship between testicular diameter and testicular weight on the body weight of domestic cats (Felis catus). The samples used were 30 pairs of local/domestic cat testicles. Cats are fasted for 6-12 hours. Then the anaesthetic injection of Atropine was given at a dose of 0.02 mg/kgBW, Acepromazine at a dose of 0.2 mg/kgBW, Ketamine at a dose of 15 mg/kgBW. The testicles obtained from the castration process are weighed with a digital scale. Then measure the diameter using a digital calliper at the largest diameter horizontally. The parameters identified in this study were cat body weight, testicular weight and testicular diameter. The data obtained indicates a weak correlation between body weight and both testicular weight and testicular diameter.

Abstract

Bladder stones represent a significant and increasingly common health issue in captive green iguanas (Iguana iguana), often resulting from improper husbandry practices. This case report examines the diversity and characteristics of bladder stones in five green iguanas (three females, two males) presenting with abdominal enlargement and decreased appetite. Surgical removal (cystotomy) was performed, followed by detailed morphometric and chemical analyses of the extracted stones. The stones varied in size (15.3655.01 g), shape, and color (white, cream, and dark brown), yet chemical composition was consistently dominated by calcium oxalate (5260%), tricalcium phosphate (2328%), and uric acid (1012%). Morphometric analysis showed low variation (50%) across measured parameters, indicating homogeneity among the samples. Notably, lighter iguanas tended to harbor heavier stones, suggesting a correlation with disease progression rather than sex or stone color. These findings reinforce the role of dietary imbalances, dehydration, and the anatomical peculiarities of the iguana urinary system in stone formation. Early detection, appropriate diet, and optimal hydration are critical to prevent urolithiasis. This report contributes to the limited data on iguana urolithiasis in Indonesia and highlights the need for broader studies to explore preventive strategies.

Abstract

This study aims to determine how the pH, water holding capacity and the Eber test or rot test on duck meat which taken in several traditional markets in Kediri Regency. The samples were taken as many as 30 samples from 3 different markets. From each market taken as many as 10 different samples in each market. The type of research is quantitative and descriptive using qualitative laboratory examinations. The results showed that for the pH test and water holding capacity there was no significant difference from the three markets, but in the Eber test that was carried out there were several positive and some negative samples. This is due to several factors that refer to the process of slaughtering animals, the type of animal, and the lack of sterilization of slaughterhouses and the lack of understanding for the community, therefore it is important to improve the quality of products that are safe, healthy, whole, halal.

Abstract

Urolithiasis is a disorder of the urinary tract or urinary tract due to the presence of stones or calculi or crystals. These calculi can cause blockages to injury to the urinary tract. Specific clinical manifestations in this case are non-specific and highly variable, depending on the size, number, and location of calculi. Urolithiasis is generally followed by hematuria, dysuria, and stanguria. Milky cat came on 19 May 2022 at DRD Veterinary Veterinary Clinic with conditions of Hematuria, stranguria, and dysuria. When the temperature was measured using a thermometer, the temperature was 36.3 oC indicating the cat's temperature had decreased. examination to help diagnose milky cases by means of microscopic examination of urine, hematology and urinalysis, catheter insertion and cystotomy surgery.
