Abstract

One effect of the development communication and technology is infinite space and time in doing communication. In the past, written communication was done by using letter, but nowadays communication can be done quickly, easily and cost-effective one. It could be done by using SMS (Short Massage Service). However, it shows the reality of the absence of a clear convention about how to write SMS text creating a style of language, especially among English students of UMMY Solok. Based on the observations and interviews, the writer found that the number of lectureres complained about the contents of SMS text messages sent by students primarily in asking permission to lecturers. This coupled with the increasingly widespread slang languange often used by students. This indicates that the language used in students’ SMS requested permission from the lecturers are still having problems. The aim of this study was to analyze the style of language used in SMS while student requested permission from lecturers and in order to find out lecturers’ respond to the SMS. This research is a descriptive study that takes data from SMS text English department students that have been collected during one semester semester 2014/2015. Data were also obtained based on the interview to the English language lecturer. This study is expected to be the basis of empirical how ethical language student asked permission in the use of SMS medium to  lecturers and also gives contribution to the development of instructional media, especially in English corespondence subject for English Department. Abstract

PPKH Kabupaten Karawang memiliki kelompok binaan UMKM yang salah satunya berada di Kecamatan Telagasari. Permasalahan yang ada pada pelaku UMKM ini antara lain masih terbatasnya pengetahuan mereka mengenai bagaimana mengelola keuangan serta pengetahuan akses terhadap lembaga keuangan yang dapat membantu pengembangan usahanya. Di samping itu permasalahan lain timbul dalam hal pemasaran, serta tampilan produk yang masih kurang menarik seperti label produk yang masih dibuat alakadarnya. Dari permasalahan tersebut maka tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah meningkatkan keterampilan para peserta UMKM khususnya di Kecamatan Telagasari dalam penguasaan literasi dan inklusi keuangan serta penggunaan digital marketing serta meningkatan tampilan produk akhir sebelum dipasarkan. Pelatihan dan penyuluhan digunakan sebagai metode yang dilaksanakan pada kegiatan tersebut secara langsung kepada para peserta UMKM. Angket diberikan sebelum dan sesudah kegiatan sebagai hasil evaluasi kegiatan pelatihan. Hasil yang didapatkan dari kegiatan ini antara lain adalah adanya peningkatan pengetahuan mereka mengenai literasi dan inklusi keuangan menjadi 75%, digital marketing 93% dan pembuatan label produk sebesar 92%. Kegiatan berlangsung dengan lancar dan para peserta sangat antusias dan puas dengan kegiatan yang diadakan.

Abstract

This study conducts a comprehensive evaluation of English textbooks designed for 8th-grade students in junior high schools, utilizing Thomlinson's Theory of Differentiation as the theoretical framework. The objective is to assess the alignment of these textbooks with Thomlinson's principles of differentiated instruction, which emphasize tailoring educational materials to cater to the diverse learning needs of students. This study is part of an evaluation study, incorporating qualitative content analysis and quantitative assessment to gauge the textbooks' suitability for enhancing student engagement and learning outcomes. Findings from this evaluation will inform educators and curriculum developers about the extent to which these textbooks effectively address the requirements of 8th-grade English learners, with implications for improving teaching and learning strategies in the junior high school context.

Abstract

This study cond The rapid development of technology has brought significant contributions to language teaching. Hence, several up to date writing devices have been used by lecturers to modify teaching and learning activities. This study aims to investigate EFL university students' perception of the use of Essay Punch in teaching essay writing. Essay punch is an online interactive writing tool that provides students guidance in the process of writing step by step in writing an essay. The data were collected through questionnaires administered to the second year English department students of Mahaputra Muhammad Yamin University, Indonesia. The questionnaire was built up into two sections: (1) ten close-ended items and (2) two open-ended items. The ten close-ended items were designed to obtain students’ perceptions on the use of Essay Punch as a writing tool from three different aspects. The aspects are the students’ perception about the device of Essay Punch, the students’ perception about the utility of Essay Punch, and the students’ perception about the affective aspect of Essay Punch in essay writing. Meanwhile, two open-ended questions were put to allow students to show their opinion on the Essay Punch. The findings revealed that EFL university students show a positive view of their experience in using Essay Punch in the writing classroom. Thus, it could be concluded that Essay Punch can become one of the potential tools in teaching essay writing.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students' perceptions of the implementation of MyBest LMS in virtual English learning. The analysis uses Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). In the context of English learning in the Information Systems study program at Bina Sarana Informatika University, E-Learning has become an increasingly important tool to facilitate the lecture process. Through the LMS platform commonly referred to as MyBest, students can access learning materials, assignments, discussions, and evaluations online, without being limited by time and space. However, success in its implementation is not only determined by the sophistication of the technology used, but also by the user's perception of the platform. In this context, students' perception towards E-Learning has an important role in determining the effectiveness and acceptance of the technology in the learning process, especially in English learning which is one of the courses conducted virtually at UBSI. This research uses descriptive method by using observation, questionnaire and interview collected from 40 Information System students of Bina Sarana Informatika University who were selected from cluster random sampling technique.

Abstract

Empowerment is a change in circumstances through the help of other parties and is inclusive by involving the objects of the program targets. Economic empowerment by using zakat funds must always be in the corridor of fulfilling the pillars of zakat. Zakat as a worship that has two dimensions, namely in addition to being a form of obedience to Allah SWT, it is also a concern or obligation towards fellow human beings. The purpose of this study is to analyze the utilization of professional zakat in empowering the economy of mustahik based on the maqasid sharia principle at Baznas Bekasi Regency, descriptive analysis method by identifying from several sources including books, journals, websites, the Qur'an and Hadith, and the results of interviews with Baznas, it can be described that the implementation of zakat funds obtained by Baznas Bekasi Regency which comes from the State Civil Apparatus and the private sector in the Bekasi Regency area, is used for empowering the economy of mustahik through the Bekasi Pintar, Bekasi Taqwa, Bekasi Mandiri, Bekasi Sehat and Bekasi Peduli programs, the five leading programs are based on the maqasid sharia principle by considering the conditions of mustahiq.

Abstract

This study evaluates the effectiveness of two English for Specific Purposes (ESP) textbooks, used at the Health Polytechnic in Solok, Indonesia. The research aims to assess how well these textbooks align with the academic and professional needs of nursing students. A survey was conducted among 80 second-year nursing students enrolled in the English for Nursing course. Data was collected through a 19-item questionnaire covering five key dimensions: aims and approach, design and organization, language content, skills, and topics. The results revealed that students generally responded positively to the textbooks, highlighting their well-organized structure, relevant grammar coverage, and practical clinical scenarios. However, some areas were identified for improvement, particularly the coverage of pronunciation and writing activities. The lack of focus on these aspects could hinder students’ communication skills and documentation abilities, which are essential in medical settings. This study emphasizes the importance of refining textbook content to better support students' language development and professional preparation. Future research is encouraged to explore the long-term impact of these textbooks on students' language proficiency and to compare similar materials used internationally for further improvement.

Abstract

Kuliah Kerja Nyata Tematik (KKNT) merupakan suatu bentuk pendidikan dengan cara memberikan pengalaman belajar kepada mahasiswa untuk hidup di tengah masyarakat di luar kampus dengan Perkembangan teknologi informasi dan komunikasi telah membawa perubahan signifikan dalam berbagai sektor, termasuk dalam dunia bisnis. E-commerce, sebagai salah satu hasil dari kemajuan teknologi, telah membuka peluang baru bagi pelaku usaha, terutama di sektor industri kecil dan menengah. Metode yang digunakan yaitu melalui observasi dan pendekatan partisipatif., pendekatan partisipatif adalah metode yang menekankan pada keterlibatan aktif masyarakat dalam setiap tahap perencanaan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi program. Hasil Program Kerja Kuliah Kerja Nyata Tematik (KKNT) telah berhasil dilaksanakan sesuai rencana. Mahasiswa berhasil menerapkan ilmu akademis dalam konteks nyata, menunjukkan peningkatan dalam kemampuan praktis dan pemahaman isu-isu sosial. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of profitability and environmental costs on green accounting in energy sector companies. The approach used in this study is a quantitative approach with secondary data from annual reports and sustainability reports published on the companies' official websites. The population for this study consists of all energy sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in 2022-2023, totaling 90 companies. The sampling technique used purposive sampling, resulting in 47 companies meeting the criteria. The study period was two years, resulting in a total of 94 research samples. Data analysis was conducted using classical assumption tests, multiple linear regression tests, and hypothesis tests. The results of the tests indicated that profitability and environmental costs significantly influence green accounting
