Abstract

Mercuric chloride may deposit in the liver with a high metabolic rate, delivering substrate and energy from one metabolic system to others, and processing and synthesizing various substances transported to the body. This research aimed to determine the effect of vitamin E administration on liver histopathology of mice (Mus musculus) exposed to mercuric chloride and to determine the histopathological image of the liver. Samples were grouped into P0 (not treated), P1 (mercuric chloride 50 mg/kgBW), P2 (mercuric chloride 50mg/kgBW + vitamin E 50mg/kgBW), P3 (mercuric chloride 50mg/kgBW + vitamin E 100mg/kgBW), and P4 (mercuric chloride 50mg/kgBW + vitamin E 150mg/kgBW) using experiment laboratory method. The data were analyzed using the One Way ANOVA to recognize the difference in changes in vitamin E on hepatocytes damage exposed to mercury chloride. The results showed mercury chloride damages hepatocyte, while the administration of vitamin E as a whole showed changes in hepatocyte repair. The optimal dose for hepatocyte repair is 100mg/kgBW.

Abstract

Trichomoniasis merupakan salah satu jenis vaginitis menular seksual yang dapat mempengaruhi saluran urogenital. Trichomoniasis menginfeksi sekitar 1-10 wanita. Parasit ini hidup dalam saluran vagina dan tidak terdapat gejala. Parasit yang sering dijumpai dalam urin dinamakan Trichomonas vagina/is. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan Trichomoniasis pada sampel urin metode pewarnaan dengan hygienitas vagina pada mahasiswi Universitas Anwar Medika. Desain penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian deskriptif dengan jumlah 25 sampel urine mahasiswa Universitas Anwar Medika dan penilaian kuesioner terhadap hygienitas vagina. Penelitian dilakukan Mei-Juni 2022. Sampel urine yang diamati menggunakan pewarna eosin. Hasil data pemeriksaan urine dan penilaian kuesioner akan diolah menggunakan SPSS dengan Uji Chi Square. Hasil penelitian dari 25 sampel menunjukkan adanya positif Trichomonas vaginalis sebanyak 3 sampel (12%) sedangkan hasil negatif sebanyak 22 pasien (88%) dan terdapat hubungan pemeriksaan trichomoniasis terhadap hygienitas vagina menunjukkan p-value 0,512. Kesimpulan penelitian ini terdapat hubungan pemeriksaan trichomoniasis dengan hygienitas vagina pada mahasiswi Universitas Anawar Medika. Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disorder characterized by impaired insulin production or action, often leading to pancreatic β-cell dysfunction and apoptosis. Pro-inflammatory cytokines, notably Tumor Necrosis Factor-alpha (TNF-α), play a critical role in the pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes (T2D). While Tagetes erecta (marigold) has demonstrated potential in lowering blood glucose in hyperglycemic conditions, its anti-inflammatory effects in diabetic models remain underexplored. This study aimed to evaluate the antidiabetic and TNF-α lowering effects of T. erecta extract in alloxan-induced diabetic rats. Twenty-five male Wistar rats were divided into a normal control group (n=5) and a diabetic group (n=20) induced by alloxan (blood glucose ≥126 mg/dL). Diabetic rats were then randomized into four treatment subgroups (n=5 each): untreated diabetic control, and diabetic groups treated with T. erecta extract at doses of 25 mg/kg BW, 50 mg/kg BW, or 75 mg/kg BW (administered intraperitoneally). Statistical analysis revealed that T. erecta extract significantly reduced blood glucose levels in alloxan-induced diabetic rats (p <0.05). Furthermore, the highest dose of T. erecta extract (75 mg/kg BW) effectively attenuated elevated TNF-α levels, demonstrating a significant anti-inflammatory effect. In conclusion, this study provides compelling evidence that T. erecta extract exhibits both antidiabetic and anti-inflammatory properties by significantly lowering blood glucose and TNF-α levels in alloxan-induced diabetic rats, particularly at the 75 mg/kg BW dose.
