Abstract

This research is important to do considering that currently Indonesia and even the world need a moderation model of religion as a solution for the emergence of various fundamentalist ideas that lead to acts of radicalism and terrorism in a plural-multi-religious-multicultural society. The main problem which is the object of study in this study is the form of internalization of religious moderation carried out by the Sunan Pandanaran Islamic Boarding School which is unique and unique. This study uses a sociological approach with the theory used is Pierre Bourdieu's "habitus" theory, the concept of habitus is used to raise public opinion about habits (habit). The findings from this research are that the Sunan Pandanaran Islamic Boarding School as an object of study is able to apply the values ??of religious moderation. This is of course not only manifested through the curriculum in Islamic boarding schools but becomes a habitus (culture) within it. Pondok Pesantren Sunan Pandanaran is also able to apply an inclusive model of religious moderation, for example by becoming a meeting place for interfaith communities to organize various activities related to religious moderation, both on a local, national and international scale. Of course this is interesting because the students are not only fed with theories of religious moderation, but are also confronted directly with the reality of an interfaith community so that students can find out what attitude is shown when dealing directly with them (people of different religions) in order to uphold the mission of Islam Rahmatan Lil' Alamin.

Abstract

This study aims to map the trends and characteristics of special interest tourism research in Indonesia in the period 2020–2024. The method used is content analysis with a focus on six main aspects: number of publications per year, type of research, research subjects, tourism topics studied, data collection instruments, and data analysis methods. Data were obtained through a systematic search on Google Scholar on April 26, 2025 using the keyword "special interest tourism." From approximately 104,000 initial results, after filtering based on year of publication and title relevance, 74 data were obtained, of which only 42 articles were fully accessible and 34 of them were used as research samples. The results show fluctuations in publication trends, with significant spikes in 2023 and 2024. Qualitative research dominates, while quantitative and mixed methods are still minimal. The most frequently used instruments are observation sheets and triangulation, while common data analysis techniques include SWOT and qualitative descriptive. Government and tourists emerged as the most research subjects, reflecting a focus on tourist policies and experiences. The topics studied are very diverse, ranging from tourist behavior, environmental conservation, tourist villages, to tourism product innovation. This study concludes that special interest tourism is increasingly in demand as a field of study, but the methodological approach still tends to be exploratory and descriptive. It is recommended to strengthen quantitative and mixed-method methods and expand the focus of research on policy, creative economy, and sustainability. These results are expected to be an initial reference for researchers and stakeholders in developing more comprehensive special interest tourism research in the future.

Abstract

The rapid development of tourism has many negative consequences, one of which is the problem of waste. Plastic pollution has become a global issue whose impact is greatly felt in the tourism sector. Tourists are increasingly aware and concerned about environmental issues, and polluted destinations often lose their appeal. The purpose of this community service is to socialize the impact of plastic pollution on tourism to support quality and sustainable tourism. This workshop was held at Bumigora University in collaboration with the Sane Mare (a non-government organization). The approach used in this study is the community development method. There are three steps used in implementing activities, namely planning, implementation, and evaluation. This study found that this activity is critical in increasing student awareness of the impact of plastic pollution as a step in supporting sustainable tourism. A joint commitment is needed from the community, tourism actors, and the government to reduce the use of plastic, strengthen the waste management system, and encourage responsible tourism behavior because plastic waste pollutes the sea, rivers, and tourist attractions.

Abstract

Tourism is a significant economic factor at the global level, making direct contributions to GDP, employment, and cultural exchange. The development of smart tourism, where information and communication technology (ICT) is integrated with mainstream tourism activities, has transformed the competitive landscape of destinations, enhanced the visitor experience, and fostered a positive reputation. While smart tourism presents opportunities, it also poses threats, primarily in terms of infrastructural preparedness, digital divides, and low community awareness of utilizing technology to drive tourism development. The research will explore the implications of adopting smart tourism on enhancing the reputation of destinations and elaborate on the primary challenges of merging digital innovations with traditional practices. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed through a systematic review and analysis of the literature, including academic journals, books, reports, and relevant online sources. The findings are that smart tourism can play a greater role in enhancing destination image through easier access, convenience, and personalization by ICT, geographic information systems (GIS), and big data. The technologies also promote sustainability by tracking the environmental impacts and enhancing visitors' awareness of local cultural protection and nature conservation. Infrastructure and human capacity limitations, as well as digital divides, remain the most significant obstacles that hinder the efficacy of smart tourism efforts. Multi-stakeholder collaboration, involving local society, the private sector, and the state, is emphasized in the research to facilitate the effective integration of technology in tourism. Smart tourism is therefore ultimately both a tool of global competitiveness strategy and a path toward sustainable, technology-based destination management.
