Abstract

Neonatal mortality is an important issue to receive attention because neonatal death not only affects infant mortality rates but also has an impact on society. This research wants to examine the determinants of neonatal death in the Mother and Child Hospital (RSIA) Aceh. This type of research is analytic with a case-control design. The case population in this study were all babies who were born and died at the age of 0-28 days, both those born at the Aceh Mother and Child Hospital (RSIA) and those referred to the Aceh Mother and Child Hospital (RSIA) from January to October 2022. totaling 108 people. The sample in this study was 216 babies consisting of 108 case babies and 108 control babies. Data analysis used a logistic regression test. The results showed that the factors that had a significant value (P value <0.05) with neonatal mortality were low birth weight (OR= 5.5; 95% CI 2.35 – 12.23), premature (OR= 0.36; 95% CI 0.13 – 0.96), jaundice (OR= 0.20; 95% CI 0.09 – 0.43), and sepsis (OR= 9; 95% CI 4.41 – 20.89), age mother > 35 years (OR 0.43; 95% CI 0.19 – 0.94), neonatal referral (OR= 0.01; 95% CI 0.00 – 0.17) and long-distance ANC (OR= 6 .6; 95% CI 2.82 – 15.63), length of stay in the emergency room ≥ 30 minutes (OR= 0.15; 95% CI 0.73 – 0.31), length of stay 1-5 days (OR= 4.3; 95% CI 2.17 – 8.78). This study concludes that sepsis is the most associated factor with neonatal mortality in RSIA. It is recommended that related parties to improve the quality of ANC services according to standards and improve the quality of PONEK (Comprehensive Emergency Neonatal Midwifery Services).

Abstract

Despite being the most prevalent complication, cardiovascular risk factors such as blood pressure, weight, and lipid profile have been less considered in digital health studies. The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to gather evidence regarding the impact of digital health applications on cardiovascular risk factors in patients with diabetes. Literature search was conducted following the PRISMA guideline on September 4, 2023, using databases including PubMed, Scilit, Scopus, Embase, and Web of Science, with a pre-planned combination of keywords. Selected studies were original research reporting the influence of smartphone applications on cardiovascular risk factors in diabetic patients. Standardized mean differences (SMD) between the intervention and control groups were analyzed using fixed or random-effects models. Eighteen studies met the criteria, consisting of 1152 patients in the intervention group and 1072 patients in the control group. The results of the meta-analysis showed that the smartphone applications significantly controlled systolic blood pressure (SMD: -5.03 mmHg; 95%CI: -7.018, -3.041, p<0.001). There was no significance effect on weight, body mass index, total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-c), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-c) and diastolic blood pressure. In the subgroup analysis, triglycerides were lower in the intervention group compared to the control group (SMD: -0.459%; 95%CI: -0.787, -0.132, p=0.006). Publication bias and the limited number of studies suggest that the evidence from this study is in moderate level. In conclusion, smartphone apps are not only effective in aiding blood sugar control but also in preventing cardiovascular issues in diabetic patients. Further research is still needed to confirm these findings.

Abstract

Background: Optimal levels of public health can be achieved through various efforts, one of which is disease prevention through hand washing with soap (CTPS). School-age children are prone to various diseases due to low CTPS behavior. The aim of the study was to determine the factors related to CTPS among students at SMPN 3 Kota Sabang. Methods: The research method uses descriptive analytics with a cross- sectional approach. This research was conducted at SMPN 3 Kota Sabang with a sample of 85 students in class VII and VIII. Data collection uses  a structured questionnaire instrument. Data analysis uses univariate analysis to display the frequency distribution of each variable and bivariate analysis uses the chi-square test. Result: The results show that there is a relationship between knowledge (p value = 0.001), attitude (p value = 0.002), and the role of health workers (p value = 0.000) with CTPS behavior, and there is no relationship between the teacher's role (p value = 0.462) with CTPS behavior. Recommendation:  It is hoped that School Health Unit (UKS) officers can provide more extensive education  to students about the benefits of CTPS.

Abstract

Background:  The Global Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) commitment targets reducing the Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) to 102 per 100,000 live births by 2015, followe by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) setting a new target of 70 per 100,000 live births in 2030. For a decade or ten years of observations of maternal mortality trends in North Aceh Regency  still show fluctuations. Method: This study examines the relationship between socio-cultural factors and cases of maternal death. Qualitative research by conducting (1) in-depth interviews with 10 key informants, namely midwives who provide services; (2) Focus Group Discussion with Puskesmas Management and Program Responsible Persons on maternal death case audit activities; (3) Documentation study of the track record of maternal deaths in the decade period 2013-2022. Result: The results shows that there is a downward trend although fluctuations of increase and decrease still occur within a decade of observation. The main immediate causes are due to bleeding and hypertension in pregnancy, the predominant place of death is in the hospital. The characteristics of multiparity mothers, ‘4 too’ pregnancies and delays in recognizing problems and making decisions indicate that socio-cultural factors are very influential on maternal mortality in North Aceh. Recommendation: Innovation is needed to reconstruct socio-cultural disadvantages such as late decisions making and the ideal number of children in a family.

Abstract

Background: Stroke is currently ranks as the second leading cause of death globally, after ischemic heart disease, and is the main cause of serious disability. In 2022, there will be more than 12.2 million new stroke cases recorded every year in the world, one in four people over the age of 25 will have a stroke in their lifetime. This research aims to identify risk factors for stroke in the community in Pidie Regency, which will enable more appropriate preventive and treatment interventions through early detection. Method: This research method uses quantitative with a survey research design, namely a cross sectional study. The total sample was 54 respondents aged 25 years who received treatment at Community Health Centers and Hospitals in the Pidie Jaya area. Samples were taken using the Accidental Sampling technique. Results: the results showed that of the 54 respondents, 30 (55.56%) had suffered a stroke. The research results also showed that there was a relationship between age (p-value 0.00) and hypertension (p-value 0.00) with the incidence of stroke. Recommendation: It is hoped that health workers will provide education or information to the public about secondary prevention efforts (healthy lifestyle, and controlling risk factors) which can be done directly in the form of counseling or indirectly in the form of media such as advertisements, posters atau brochures

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between feedback and error communication with Patient Safety Incidents at Hospital X. The research method uses quantitative research with a descriptive-analytical design using a cross-sectional approach. The results of the study showed that health workers with good feedback and error communication never committed a Patient Safety Incident was 94.85%. While those who were less good had committed a Patient Safety Incident of 13.18%. The results of the statistical test obtained an OR value of 2.79, meaning that workers with feedback and error communication were able to prevent Patient Safety Incidents 3 times. In conclusion, there is a significant relationship between feedback and error communication with Patient Safety Incidents. Keywords: Communication, Patient Safety Incidents, Health Workers
