Abstract

AbstractAerodynamic testing of an aircraft model in wind tunnel is important step in an aircraft design process. National Laboratory of Aerodynamic, Aeroelastic and Aeroacoustics Technology (BBTA3) have conducted a testing of a type of civilian passenger aircraft model to obtain aerodynamic characteristics data in ILST wind tunnel. The test result will be used in design process to predict performance and stability, so that the data must be consistent and accurate. This paper discusses the process of data consistency and accuracy checking by performing short repeatability and long repeatability testing so that the measurement results can be regarded valid and can be used to represent the validity of whole measurement data.Keywords: Consistency of test result data, wind tunnel, aerodynamics.Abstraks Pengujian aerodinamik sebuah model pesawat di terowongan angin merupakan tahap penting dalam proses desain pesawat. Balai Besar Teknologi Aerodinamika, Aeroelastika dan Aeroakustika (BBTA3) telah melakukan pengujian sebuah model pesawat bertipe penumpang sipil (airliner) untuk mendapatkan data karakteristik aerodinamika di terowongan angin ILST. Data hasil pengujian ini akan digunakan di dalam proses disain untuk memprediksi kinerja dan kestabilan pesawat sehingga data tersebut harus konsisten dan akurat. Tulisan ini mendiskusikan proses pengecekan konsistensi dan akurasi data dengan melakukan pengujian keberulangan dekat dan pengujian keberulangan jauh sehingga hasil pengukuran dapat dinyatakan valid dan dapat digunakan untuk mewakili keabsahan seluruh data pengukuran.Kata Kunci : Konsistensi data hasil pengujian, wind tunnel, aerodinamika.

Abstract

AbstractCalibration check of Indonesia Low Speed Wind Tunnel (ILST) flow reference value have been performed at the beginning of 2018. Calibration check have been conducted to the calibration coefficient of predicted freestream static and dynamic pressure. This wind tunnel reference values is reffered to the static and dynamic pressure of a reference pitot tube that is installed at the center of turn table inside the test section. The test is conducted in empty test section. The calibration check result is very close to the previous values. This result show that flow quality of ILST wind tunnel is still maintained well for aerodynamic testing purposes.Keywords: Wind tunnel calibration, tunnel reference value. AbstrakPengecekan hasil kalibrasi besaran-besaran acuan aliran terowongan angin ILST telah selesai dilakukan pada awal tahun 2018. Pengecekan kalibrasi dilakukan terhadap koefisien kalibrasi tekanan statik dan tekanan dinamik terprediksi. Koefisien-koefisien referensi terowongan angin ini disesuaikan dengan tekanan statik dan tekanan dinamik yang dibaca oleh pitot tube acuan yang dipasang di tengah turn table di dalam seksi uji. Pengukuran dilakukan pada kondisi seksi uji kosong (empty test section). Hasil pengecekan kalibrasi acuan ini sangat dekat dengan hasil sebelumnya. Hasil kegiatan ini secara umum menunjukkan bahwa kualitas aliran terowongan angin ILST masih terpelihara dengan baik untuk keperluan pengujian aerodinamik.Kata Kunci : Kalibrasi terowongan angin, referensi terowongan angin.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the improvement of PT. LEN Industri's (Persero) competitiveness through the readiness of human resources to support the development of defence and security equipment locomotion in the fourth industrial revolution era. The method used in this research is data collection through questionnaire distribution and literature study. The respondents in this research are PT employees. LEN Industri (Persero) who are involved in the development of defence and security equipment locomotion. The analysis results show that most respondents are ready to face the fourth industrial revolution, but there are still obstacles to using digital platforms—improving PT. LEN Industri's (Persero) competitiveness can be achieved by enhancing the readiness of human resources to adopt new technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data, Cloud Computing, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Digital Twin. In conclusion, this research recommends PT. LEN Industri (Persero) to further enhance and manage its human resources to be better prepared to increase competitiveness in the fourth industrial revolution era.

Abstract

This paper discusses the effect of pitch distribution on the propeller of a high-speed vessel (Offshore Patrol Vessel) on propeller efficiency and cavitation on the propeller blade surface. A propeller model design with five blades featuring symmetric blade contours and ogival-shaped foil, tested through open water tests in a towing tank, is used as the research object. Three variations of pitch distribution based on PropCAD recommendations: original pitch, 80% hub pitch distribution, and high-thrust pitch distribution, are used as parameters to calculate propeller efficiency using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). The cavitation phenomena occurring on the propeller blades under each pitch distribution condition are analysed using the Burrill method (Burrill Diagram). Based on CFD analysis, it was found that the propeller with the highest propeller efficiency, η, is obtained from the high-thrust pitch distribution (0.6072), compared to the original pitch distribution (0.5902) and the 80% hub pitch distribution (0.5651). Cavitation occurs in all three pitch variations because the thrust loading coefficient values (τc) for the original pitch distribution (0.1286), 80% hub pitch distribution (0.1183), and high-thrust pitch distribution (0.1293) are higher than the cavitation threshold from the Burrill diagram (τ'c = 0.0783).
