Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengeksplorasi proses belajar mengajar Bahasa Inggris yang sukses dengan metode Structural, Analytic and Syntactic Process (SAS) dalam pendekatan Contextual Teaching Learning (CTL) di SDN 10 Cibubur Jakarta Timur. Proses structural adalah membaca kalimat dengan bantuan gambar, kemudian, kalimat-kalimat itu dipisahkan menjadi kata-kata dan juga suku kata sebagai bagian dari Analytic. Syntactic Process adalah untuk menggabungkan suku kata menjadi kata-kata dan kalimat. Selanjutnya, CTL adalah pendekatan teknik pembelajaran yang mencakup beberapa tahap proses yang dimulai dengan pengaktifan pengetahuan yang sudah dikuasai, pembelajaran dalam rangka memperoleh dan mengembangkan pengetahuan baru, Pemahaman pengetahuan yang tidak hanya menghafalnya tetapi dipahami dan diyakini, menerapkan atau mempraktekan pengetahuan untuk mengetahui perubahan perilaku sebagai pengalaman perilaku dan melakukan refleksi pengetahuan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode etnografi terhadap siswa kelas II Sekolah Dasar Negeri 10 Cibubur Jakarta Timur. Strategi penyelidikan penelitian melibatkan domain, taksonomi, komponen dan budaya.Hasil dari penelitian adalah pertama, guru sebagai konsep tor mampu lebih kreatif untuk menstranfer materi topik pelajaran menggunakan beragam peralatan mengajar untuk membuat siswa tertarik dan termotivasi untuk mengekspresikan apa yang ada dalam fikiran mereka seperti dalam target bahasa. Kedua, Kurikulum dikembangkan berdasarkan kebutuhan siswa yang kontekstual dari beberapa sumber buku, kartu bergambar dan ensiklopedia. Ketiga, proses belajar mengajar tidak hanya dilakukan di kelas tetapi di ruang lain seperti perpustakaan, laboratorium bahasa, akses multimedia bahkan dikantin untuk mendukung kontektual topik materi pelajaran.

Abstract

Program pengabdian masyarakat ini dilakukan dalam bentuk bantuan pelatihan pembelajaran bahasa Inggris kepada kepala sekolah dan guru RA di wilayah Kabupaten Bogor, bekerja sama dengan Yayasan Insan Cendekia. Tujuan program pelatihan ini adalah untuk melatih para guru dalam mengajarkan dan mengenalkan bahasa Inggris kepada peserta didiknya dengan cara yang menyenangkan. Selain itu,   dengan mengikuti kegiatan pelatihan pembelajaran bahasa Inggris melalui lagu yang sederhana dalam rangka meningkatkan perbendaharaan kosa kata. Peserta pelatihan adalah 15 guru RA yang memiliki rentang pengalaman mengajar lima sampai duapuluh tahun. Tiga lagu yang diajarkan terdiri mengenai STEM (Sains, Teknologi, Rekayasa, dan Matematika) merupakan karya kreasi dari tim dosen sekaligus sebagai pelatih. Setelah pelatihan, peserta terlihat menikmati pelatihan dengan perasaan sukacita. Pada awalnya, mereka masih ragu-ragu terkait pelafalan (pronunciation) yang dikuasai namun seiring berjalannya waktu mereka menjadi rileks karena lagu yang dipakai diiringi oleh gerak sebagai penunjang pembelajaran bahasa. Kesimpulan yang dapat ditarik adalah pelatihan pembelajaran bahasa Inggris dengan lagu-lagu membuat guru RA lebih percaya diri dalam berbahasa Inggris, karena dengan lagu pelafalan mudah dikuasai dan diingat, serta menambah kosakata. Pelatihan ini dapat dilakukan secara rutin atau berkala untuk meningkatkan kemampuan tenaga pendidik dalam menerapkan strategi pembelajaran yang bervariasi.

Abstract

This study has three objectives (1) to expose the intended message of figurative expressions through the lyrics, (2) to figure out symbolic signs and gestures of Coldplay video clip “Viva La Vida” (3) to work out its implication of language learning. The data were song lyrics and symbolic cues pictured in the video clip evaluated using Fairclough’s critical discourse analysis. They were categorized by any kinds of figurative expressions delivered to disclose the intended meaning and understand symbolic appearances to find its contribution for language studying. The findings reveal that the majority of clues delivered are trying to express the story of the song about the king who is not longer to be a ruler. The use of figurative expression increases the language learners knowledge about hyperbole, personification and metaphor for they are able to explore insight and their imagination. The clues are shown expressively through the symbols of the singer and band players. Some language features used for language teaching related with parts of speech, tenses, and pronunciation. This song can be used as a teaching material to explore more comprehensive about the figurative language, symbol in literary works and to teach English as well.

Abstract

English holds significant importance for students for a multitude of reasons, impacting their academic, professional, and personal development. Numerous scholarships and international exchange programs require proficiency in English, opening doors to global educational experiences this study aims to find out the application of the Two Stay Two Stray strategy through Storytelling in the learning process, find out Two Stay Two Stray strategy through Storytelling that improve students' speaking ability, and know obstacles in implementing Two Stay Two Stray strategy through Storytelling. This research uses qualitative methods with descriptive explanations. The results of this study found that the teachers are successful in implementing storytelling learning in speaking through the Two Stay Two Stray strategy. The obstacles which are faced by the teachers are 1) students have various characteristics, 2) students have low vocabularies, and so on. Meanwhile, the opportunities that are faced by the teachers are 1) the dynamic nature of Two Stay Two Stray keeps students actively engaged, 2) regular practice in speaking and presenting stories builds students’ confidence, and so forth. The English teachers’ interviews show that the teachers succeed in implementing storytelling learning in speaking through Two Stay Two Stray. Besides, the students’ interviews show that the students can enhance their speaking skills in storytelling learning through the Two Stay Two Stray strategy.

Abstract

This study analyzes Viva La Vida by Coldplay to explore the deeper meaning behind its lyrics and music video.The song tells the story of a fallen king and expresses themes like power, loss, regret, and hope. As a multimodal text, it combines music, words, and visuals to deliver its message. Using a qualitative method, the researcher closely examined the lyrics and visuals.The analysis is based on three main theories: Barthes’ semiotics, Kristeva’s intertextuality and Kress & van Leeuwen’s multimodality. Barthes’ theory helps explain how words like “crown” and “puppet” carry not just literal meaning, but also feelings and cultural ideas. Kristeva’s intertextuality shows how the song connects with older stories from history, the Bible, and literature, such as the French Revolution and Shakespeare. These references give the song deeper emotional value.The music video supports the story through strong visual symbols like a dying rose, broken television, and gestures of surrender. According to Kress and van Leeuwen, these elements add to the overall meaning. In the end, Viva La Vida gives a clear message: power does not last forever, but people can learn and reflect.The song is also useful for learning English grammar, vocabulary, and critical thinking
