... that singer Shiyui got her stage name from a Buddhist statue in Kyoto? Source: それまでにも使っていたハンドルネームとかじゃなくて、そこで新しく考えました。もともと私は仏教が好きで……と言ってもそんなに詳しいわけじゃなくて、お寺の空間とか仏像の顔とかがただただ大好きだったんですね。で、五劫思惟阿弥陀仏（ごこうしゆいあみだぶつ）っていうアフロの仏像が京都にいるんですけど、それがめちゃおもろいやん！と思ってそこから取ろうと。でも「五劫思惟」だとちょっと長いし、仏教みが強すぎるので「思惟」だけを取って、カタカナ表記にしたらかわいいと思って「シユイ」にしてみました。/It wasn't a handle name I'd used up until then, but a new one I came up with. I've always loved Buddhism... but I'm not an expert on it, I just loved the space of temples and the faces of Buddhist statues. There's an afro-haired Buddha statue in Kyoto called Gokōshiyui Amidabutsu, and I thought it was really interesting! So I decided to take it from there. But "Gokōshiyui" is a bit long and sounds too Buddhist, so I thought it would be cute to just take "shiyui" and write it in katakana, so I went with "Shiyui."

So I wanted to make something, and while I was doing all sorts of things like making sweets, soap, and t-shirts, I started doing "cover songs" with the feeling that "this seems fun, so I might as well give it a try."
