When I first joined Guilded in 2022 I never would’ve thought that it’d get to where it is now. I thought I’d be able to use it forever, then in 2024 when the Roblox link requirement update was released, I felt as if Guilded was going to be much harder to operate under, and I left Guilded for a few months. Truely sad to see this happening, I’ll never forget the memories I made on Guilded. Why did Roblox even buy Guilded if this was what they were going to do?

I just hope that features that will come to groups aren’t going to be limited to Verified groups for the first 6 months or so, but that everyone who is at least ID verified also gets access to it. Like I assume that Annoucements with picture will be build in now. I hope it won’t be limited access for only verified groups first.

We know you didn’t care about it in the slightest but oh my GOD that’s just downright disrespectful to both the people who made guilded and the people who used guilded.

Can’t believe Roblox is at the point where it thinks that a 90 million dollar purchase is just another product to them, that they can just throw away when it stops working after they ignored the instructions and it broke within a week.

So all that community building was a waste of time?

What about the announcements? Will the older ones get migrated? Are we finally getting a way to check if the announcement will get past Roblox filters (which filter random, normal and safe words in my language)? Will the announcements on Roblox have formatting available?

What about calendar? Are we going to be able to schedule and preserve events in a calender-like view for archive purposes as well? Will Roblox support event-specific channels?

What about roles? Are we going to finally be able to see which roles players have in-game as well?

What about the community I have built on Guilded? Will there be a way to archive the server, like download the messages for archiving purposes? Anything?

I’m surprised how many people are happy to see this thing go, I … I guess you really want everyone to stick to Discord in order to build an actual, working community. That’s pretty sad tbh.

I’m happy to see other great features coming to Roblox itself in the future but I don’t think it’s smart to shut Guided down, not yet. In my opinion this decision really sucks and I’m disappointed. If only it wasn’t propagated right from the start as the future of communities on Roblox at least

Edit: Oh yeah and also I guess I will move join logs back to Discord, time to spam them again, yayyy!
(I moved these to Guilded for two reasons - not to spam Discord (as they were against it) and also because Guilded was Roblox’s at that time so it made sense to “keep data on same platform” … lmao, how dumb was I!)

you buy guilded, you promote guilded, you add guilded features to roblox groups (i am not calling it “communities” thats corporate slop) which people used

and now you decided “hm lets kill it off” what was the point in buying something you decided to sunset ages later on?

edit: and shutting down guilded to replace it with your own half baked features because you can’t be asked to manage another platform?

Roblox always disappoints. Been 4 years developing and maintaining TouchGuild, a library for interacting with Guilded, and with time, Guilded has been slowly abandoned, nothing new while there were a lot of expectations, a growing user base with developers building apps on Guilded, for Guilded, and this is how we have been rewarded, by giving little to no recognition for what we’ve done for the platform, yet after the forced Roblox connection changes a lot did leave, but a lot also did stay, for their communities, for their apps, for the cohesion within the platform itself, the livelihood, but all this has to end, because of poor management from Roblox that had no serious plan for it, the purchase was the beginning of the end, and we all knew it when we got forced Roblox login while a huge part of the user base aren’t Roblox players, and after breaking the promise of Guilded staying an independent product, promise made by Roblox back when it was purchased.

Innovation stagnated to the point that we had to abstract away from the Guilded API to make new things happen within a chat box without any control over the UI. To innovate I had to create Application Commands before they were even introduced, in a tricky way as it would use a command parsing system that would behave like slash commands, and much more, we were limited by Guilded’s stagnation when it comes to the developer API, because Roblox certainly prevented anything significant from happening, and it has been 2 years like this, without any update, with an API that lacks major features, even the simplest ones, an API that has been restricted more and more over time while it was already limiting. We as developers had to think outside the box, the box of the API, to bring to Guilded what’s never been added to the platform through workarounds and abstractions. That’s how bad it was, but it was the perks of TouchGuild as a library, one that did seek much more than what Guilded offered and made the API cleaner to use.

Thank you Roblox, keep up developing a centralized platform, but if this one ever fails, where is your other businesses that can keep the main company surviving? Centralizing everything isn’t all advantageous, and maybe respecting previously made promises for the platform would’ve made you gain greater reputation among users. Even if most people on Roblox are children, they do grow up, and they do get to notice and get opinionated, so, beware from all your doings, I do believe in accountability and companies may face the consequences of it in the long run.

Yeah, the only reason I used guilded was because of the webhook features working better than discord. I hate using proxies, but unless someone has a fix for roblox webhooks on discord, then back to proxies I will unfortunately have to go.

Not sure if someone has mentioned this or not already (there are nearly 200 posts on this thread), but what people who used Guilded for webhook logs do?

My development group used webhooks to log admin commands, potential exploiters, potential pain points for bugs, etc.

We used to use Discord, but when ROBLOX bought Guilded in 2021, it seems like Discord started to block webhooks that originated from ROBLOX. Until 2 years ago, we used a ton of different proxies that would eventually also get blocked by Discord before we switched to Guilded.

What are we supposed to do now besides create our own hosting service???

As a priority before the end of this year, we remain committed to supporting Announcements and intend to make them available directly within Roblox Communities, since we know many creators use this tool to engage with their communities.

Will announcement history be supported in the near future? Part of what I liked with the shift from group shouts to Guilded announcements is that you could visit the Guilded server and catch up on older updates.
