The larger circles are the terminus stations for the urban train services (keep in mind that in the case of blue line it is outdated, that station Caíde is not the terminal station for that line anymore.
I personally like the NS style map of showing all the services on the map altogether. I even personally started to draft a diagram on that direction but yeah, I am more a programmer than a designer 😅
The end goal would be a map showing CP and Metro do Porto together. But I think that the intermediate step of the CP network is also useful (as in a separate file in Commons). In this case, I think it'd make sense to indicate the stations that you can change to Metro do Porto with it's "M" icon next to the station names.--ArlindoPereira (talk) 10:39, 24 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I like this style with a white "center" on the line. Once you integrate the Metro lines, it will differentiate them (because they use very similar colors).
There are five CP stations that integrate with Metro do Porto: Porto-Campanhã, Porto-São Bento, General Torres, Contumil and Rio Tinto.
Other than that, I think it would be better that the Metro do Porto logo M letter would be aligned with the station name. Like this: "Porto-Campanhã (M)"
The section on yellow line between Coimbões and Porto-Campanhã will probably be a bit harder because it is almost horizontal. I suggest aligning the labels diagonally, but if you don't want that a solution with indication arrows could also be an option.

It's funny, I had already moved the M before reading your comment. I have two versions, with the M close to the station or on the far side of the name, I like the M close to the station but it's up to you.
I don't understand about the "horizontal", this is what OSM shows and my line follows that?

Yeah both versions are fine, let's roll with the M close to the station.
I might not have expressed clearly, I was trying to say that on the yellow line, the sequence of stations Coimbões, V.N. Gaia - Devesas and General Torres could be hard to legend because they were almost in an horizontal axis, but this time you made it fit perfectly :)
The next improvement in terms of signaling / integrations could be indicating on which stations the user could change to the InterCidades (long distance) or Alfa Pendular (HST), but I am not sure if that would pollute the map. If you want to try:
- Alfa Pendular - logo (probably it'd make sense to just use the rounded part, and leave the full one for the corner legend)
  - Stations (along green and yellow lines): Braga, Nine, Famalicão, Porto-Campanhã, V.N. Gaia - Devesas, Espinho, Aveiro
- InterCidades - logo
  - Stations:
    - (green line) Braga, Nine, Famalicão, Trofa, Porto-Campanhã
    - (red line) Guimarães, Vizela, Santo Tirso
    - (yellow line) Espinho, Ovar, Estarreja, Aveiro

@Goran tek-en something that I forgot to mention: on the legend, the "Integração - Gratuita" doesn't make sense in the Portuguese reality, since it's charged per zones, so all integration is not charged extra. @Goran tek-en asked for some feedback from the Portuguese community on SSC (link) and here's it:

"Integração" only makes sense in Brazilian Portuguese. In European Portuguese it must be "Transbordo".
A couple of typos:
- Coimbões -> Coimbrões (Yellow line)
- Pereirnhas -> Pereirinhas (Red line)
I missed another Metro do Porto integration: on Hospital São João (Hosp. S. João, purple line).
It could also be useful to mention with continuity arrows the possible integrations outside of the suburban trains network. Those would be:
- Green line
  - Nine: Valença (north)
- Blue line
  - Marco de Canaveses: Pocinho (east)
- Yellow line
  - Espinho: Vouga (southeast)
  - Aveiro: Lisboa (south), Vouga (east)

@Goran tek-en someone pointed out an important detail that I wasn't aware (and that I checked and is true). Despite the indication on original CP Map, the new Leixões line is actually operated with Porto-Campanhã as a passthrough station, not as a final station. The trains start at Leça do Balio, pass through Porto-Campanhã and go south sharing rails with yellow line until station Ovar. Which means that the section between Porto-Campanhã and Ovar should be represented with yellow and purple lines.--ArlindoPereira (talk) 09:41, 28 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Goran tek-en Looking nice. The Leixões line is with a different color though. I have a suggestion, let me know what you think: what if there is a "flying junction", i.e. instead of arriving from Leça do Balio to Contumil on the left, it arrives on the right. Then, it can continue with the same purple color all the way to Ovar. WDYT?

Other than that, some small points:

Some integrations are a bit off. For instance:
- Aveiro line (yellow)
  - Espinho station, the logo to the left looks a bit weird, as if it belongs to Silvade station. I'd put both of them to the right.
  - On Porto-S. Bento, it's probably better to align it horizontally instead of letting the logo fall below the name.
  - On Porto-Campanhã, the two logos aligned vertically look a bit weird to me, I think it'd be best to set them horizontally.
- Braga line (green)
  - Famalicão with the logos on both sides looks a bit off to me, I think both to the right might look best.
  - Same on Nine and Braga stations.

have the integration logo always on the left, except for special cases such as Porto-S.Bento and Gaia-Devesas
change "Transbordo" to "Conexão"
change "Transbordo outra" to "Conexão para outros serviços"
the connection order to show the connections, for the station that have multiple connections, should be Metro do Porto - Alfa Pendular - InterCidades, on that order.

We are working on Portugal stuff here and it happens to be that I'm planning a road trip for the better part of May just to Portugal and the Atlantic cliffs in southern Portugal, coincidence.

But I have had to change the plans a bit so now I will go done to the Atlantic cliffs in north west Spain, Mia (my life companion doesn't want me to be away too long) from southern Sweden where I live. Trofa (red/green lines) is missing InterCidades icon; because it is too close of next station Lousado, it is probably better to the name to the left and it's icon to the left of the name;
On Braga, Nine, Famalicão (green line), Espinho, Ovar (yellow/purple lines) and Estarreja (yellow line), move the icons to the right of the station names;
On Aveiro (yellow line), move the station name to where the icons are, and move the icons to the left of the name;
On V.N.Gaia-Devesas (yellow/purple lines), try setting it into a single line, so it is not too close to Porto-S. Bento.

I believe we have reached it's final stage before adding the Metro network. I'll give it a day to collect feedback from the SSC community but I think we won't find any other typos.

@Goran tek-en Yeah, it might make sense to enlarge it a little bit as the stations in the central area / close to where yellow line intercepts the main trunk are quite dense.

Typos / small errors:

Main trunk: Senora da Hora -> Senhora da Hora; NorteShopping/Sete Bicas -> NorteShopping / Sete Bicas (a space before and after slash);
Blue line: Eatádio do Mar -> Estádio do Mar;
- Câmara Matosinhos and Matosinhos Sul are inverted (the correct order is Brito Capelo - Matosinhos Sul - Câmara Matosinhos - Parque Real)
Red line: Vilo do Conde -> Vila do Conde; VC Fashion outlet / Modivas -> VC Fashion Outlet / Modivas;
Green line: Paraque Maia -> Parque Maia;
Yellow line: Salguerios -> Salgueiros; Hospital Santos Silvia -> Hospital Santos Silva;
Orange line: Bagium -> Baguim

Also, it might make sense to know that there are two other metro lines (G and H, pink and dark red) in construction, as well as a BRT named metroBus that will also be operated by them. So you can show them on a dashed color, or not even show them at first but keep in mind that they will soon-ish exist and avoid rework. @Goran tek-en Yes, just letters. Their names have to be "Linha X" instead of "Linha de X". Just to give some small context on Portuguese, CP's lines are "Linha de XXX" because that means "XXX's Line", whereas MdP lines are "Linha X", meaning "X Line".

Yes those are the three projects currently in construction. Please let me know if you want me to list / get OSM links for the stations. Line G / pink will connect to existing stations Casa da Música (main trunk) and São Bento (yellow); Line H / dark red will connect to existing stations Casa da Música (main trunk) and Santo Ovídio (yellow); metroBus line 1 will connect to Casa da Música as well.

Out of those, the subway lines are currently under construction and will probably open next year or 2027, while metroBus is with the infrastructure (roads / stops) ready, but the vehicles are delayed, so it will probably start later this year. --ArlindoPereira (talk) 12:07, 17 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Goran tek-en I think that for better understanding, the metrobus line "pill" could read "MetroBus Linha 1". Other than that looks fine. :)

I think the next step is setting legends etc. and releasing. This step should be relatively easy.

I checked on our Rio map and there we have a thin black line on top of the colored lines for Metro. Then we have buses just as colored lines. As we are going to add a bus line later on and now you are talking about more stuff for the + map I think we should keep this. Is that fine with you?

@Goran tek-en hmmm I think that the black line doesn't make sense here. We used in Rio because we needed to differentiate four networks that used roughly the same colors (trains, subway, light rail, BRT), while the same doesn't happen in Porto. I think how it was before was better. Maybe we can save this style (think black line) to differentiate the metroBus from the regular Metro lines, when it launch.

The reason to keep the black line is so the maps has some kind of similarity and even more important so that people with color deficiency can tell them (different types of transportation) apart so much better.

Train + Metro Porto

The hard step (in my opinion) will be integrating the two networks together, as the Metro is much denser. Maybe with an inset area, similar to what was done in Rio map. If zoomed in enough, we could also try to integrate smaller networks, such as the three tram lines ("Eléctrico" in pt-pt): Line 1, Line 18 and Line 22, as well as smaller transports such as Funicular dos Guindais and the Gaia Cable Car / Teleférico de Gaia (this one, touristic). Train Porto-Campanhã is not the same as metro Campanhã what I can see but train Porto-Campanhã has a metro symbol. So it's different stations but you can walk in between them and continue your travel?

@ArlindoPereira Draft insets 1&2-4.

Yes, Porto-Campanhã is a heavy rail station operated by CP and (Metro) Campanhã is a light rail station operated by Metro do Porto. The stations lie side by side and you can walk between them with corridors.
- I have an old video, from the pandemic years (it is so weird to rewatch those videos wearing masks...), showing the two Campanhã stations. Unfortunately it is in Portuguese but you can ignore the audio and activate the automatic subtitles in English. By the 7 minute mark I walk from the light rail to the heavy rail station. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cwIs3p5l2vk
Similarly, Porto-São Bento and São Bento, but in this case the Metro one is underground.
Yeah with the two maps united I think it might make sense to supress the "Porto-" prefix and show both stations together. It is a bit hard to imagine how that would look. When I look at the Metro map at São Bento there are both a logo for train connection but also Funicular dos Guindais, is this correct and if so where should it connect?

@Goran tek-en oh it is looking already really nice. Let's go to your points

- Different of Rio, there is no concept of "free connection" vs. "paid connection" in Porto public transport. It is charged per zones of the city (similar to "ring" in other countries such as Germany, but the zones are not concentric). So it is only a connection. If you want, you could differentiate the transfers between the same systems to the transfers to other systems, but it does not make sense in terms of fare (it'd be the same fare).

- Regarding Train Rio Tinto vs. Metro Rio Tinto. Yes exactly. For some weird reason the metro station closer to the Rio Tinto train station is Campainha and not Rio Tinto as one would expect. Naturally you could walk from Metro Rio Tinto station to Train Rio Tinto station, but the Metro station closer is Campainha. See [27] (640m distance) vs [28] (890m).

- Regarding (historic) tram, I suggest that a) you use a different line style, as it is encased with the thin white color, like Metro and b) you choose the official colors the operator STCP uses, as per their official map [29] (via)

- Tram stop names are correct, just double checked on their map as well.

- An important observation: due to Metro works in downtown Porto, there was a change on tram lines. Line 18 was temporarily shortened and Line 22 was temporarily deactivated. Line 18 had a loop on the right side (as per official map above), that was shortened (as per OSM). OSM recorded the shortened path in a deactivated route ([30]). You could choose to either not show this on the map, or show on a different, dashed or semitransparent fashion.

- Regarding São Bento and Funicular dos Guindais. Yes it is a connection but you have to walk around the block (300m for the nearest exit). [31]

- Regarding Batalha, yes it is a bit weird. The issue is that there is a square called "Praça da Batalha" (lit. Battle Square) with a tram stop "Batalha", and them Funicular dos Guindais upper station is also "Batalha". It also has a tram stop there, so to differentiate them they call it "Batalha-Guindais".

- Regarding Aliados (tram and metro), yes it is a very short walk ([32]).

- For Funicular dos Guindais, I suggest using the gray color, as it is it's vehicles color ([33]).

- For Teleférico de Gaia, you could either use gray again (gondolas color), yellow (operator logo color) or keep it pink (to differentiate it because it is "touristic", i.e. not included in regular public transport fare). @Goran tek-en never heard about that book in specific, but saudade is often on those "untranslatable words" lists, it's a portuguese word that more or less translates to "the feeling that you feel when you miss something or someone"

Loved the transfers, specially on Campanhã.
Regarding the trams:
- the blue line is completely deactivated due to Metro Line Pink (G) construction affecting surface traffic;
- the red line is partially deactivated - that loop on the right is deactivated, i.e. it goes from Passeio Alegre to Clérigos via Cordoaria and returns on the same tracks;
- there's a shared path between tram line 1 and line 18, so the tracks between Passeio Alegre and Museu do Carro Eléctrico need to have green and red colors. --ArlindoPereira (talk) 16:06, 8 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding it's legend, "Eléctrico" means literally tram in pt-pt, so it would make sense that it reads either "Eléctrico X" or "Tram X", instead of both "Eléctrico" and "tram" together. Oh and it is also missing a tram line 18 legend on the left side.

The mist you are talking about is white to cover the bitmap so the legend is more legible. The svg file it self has a lot of clipped objects, so it's a really complicated file to edit or work in and then there are also several langues within the file.; So for me, I would not edit or work on that file. Suggestions:

You could put that information in the different maps Information part and write which, because maybe they are included so that people will easier locate the routes.
If you want some cities removed you will have to provide which cities in which map so the graphic worker will know (probably the graphic worker will have no knowledge of this, this is your field of interest/knowledge) and then they can be uploaded as new versions and not overwrite the current ones.

(Translate it yourself). It said Lạc Biên was between Mukkdahan and Xayabuly. As this map provided, "Xayabuly" is actually located in modern north Nakhon Panom, so the south was Đại Nam teritory.

3. Les jungles Moi isn't only about the minorities but also their relation with other states. In the file I got in Vietnamese version in page 235, it said: "Về phía Đông, người Lào thâm nhập vào thung lũng sông Pekô và định cư tới tận thung lũng sông Kr. Bla, trong đồng bằng Kontum. 1. Sorry that my words made you confusing. First I thought that territory lost to China (which is why I thought it should be white/gray) and the Sip Song Chau Tai wasn't tributary state (so I thought it shouldn't be light color). But I read the Nhất thống chí again and I found out phủ Điện Biên still included that land, so the land that lost to China is still modern-day China.

2. It was actually Sania Bouri (which can be shown as Chayaburi in other maps), I mistaked it. And I couldn't find other map other than that non-preference map.

3. Well, I searched for documents for that area and found out it was barely documented, so the area was independent. Vietnamese just had trading relationships with these area.

4. Ummm...That doesn't bring any profit for me to play around with that. I know that it can be difficult for graphics to edit the map, but I just want to help with anything I could find.

Request: Some of the regional borders shown in this Kazakhstan location map file are currently incorrect. These maps have not been updated for over 2 years since 2022, and I believe this issue needs to be addressed urgently. Can someone please correct the borders using OpenStreetMap or other accurate data?

Some of the recognizable errors include:

The lower part of the Aktobe Region-Kyzylorda Region border (The territory of the Aktobe Region should be shifted further east to include part of the Aral Sea)
A part of the Jambyl Region-Almaty Region border on Lake Balkhash (There are also parts of the Almaty Region on the western side of Lake Balkhash)
A part of the Abai Region-Jetisu Region border on Lake Alakol (The border runs through the largest island in the lake, Ul'kun-Aral-Tyube)
A part of the Abai Region-East Kazakhstan Region border (Where Lake Zaysan meets the Irtysh River, the territory of the Abai Region includes all of the western side of the Irtysh River)

Request: Hi! This map file is outdated by 15 years and should be updated. The Millennium Line has been removed from the stretch of the Expo Line depicted on this map, and should be removed. It’d be nice for everything to also be realigned up to each other following the fact, and the shared black arrowhead currently shared between the two lines on the map to just be the Expo Line’s dark blue, just like the West Coast Express’ purple arrowhead. Furthermore, “VCC–Clark” should also be removed as that is for the Millennium Line, as well as the Millennium Line being removed from the legend altogether, maybe also having it slightly resized to reflect that. Lastly, Capstan should be added as an additional station on the Richmond–Brighouse branch after where the line forks into two, before Aberdeen. Graphist opinion(s): @JamesMdp This might be an explanation why it's hard to get someone to work on this.; That file is not a true svg, there is a bitmap included in it (to show the topography, etc). The mist you are talking about is white to cover the bitmap so the legend is more legible. The svg file it self has a lot of clipped objects, so it's a really complicated file to edit or work in and then there are also several langues within the file.; So for me, I would not edit or work on that file. Это простоязычная версия, везде в статьях вики договор называется Утрехтский". I guess I misunderstood the request, as my understanding of Russian is not very good and Google translation was also confusing. @Goran tek-en Hi.

The fare zones go from NA 1 (Naples 1) to NA 16 (Naples 16), based on the distance from Naples (which is the one in cyan at the top left). The colors are not essential because they are only used to distinguish them visually. UnicoCampania does not use official colors, only the numbering (NA 1/2/3…16). So you can use equivalent colors.

Unfortunately, there are no other maps of this type online, but basically each colored strip (which includes various municipalities) is a different fare zone. Naples is NA 1, and as you move further away, the fare zones change: NA 2, NA 3, and so on.

As for the legend, I can take care of it myself. With patience and attention, I’ll match each color to the corresponding fare zone using the official website.

@Yeagvr The base map with all the municipalities is very very detailed, there are a lot of nodes (drawing points, don't know how much you knows about Inkscape). This makes the map very detailed (much more than what is needed for this) but the price is that the svg will be relatively heavy (in Mb) and slower to load.

I can do something about it but it means a significant amount of work.

So my question is, do you want to see all the borders of the municipalities?

The colors of the municipality lines are not final, just easier to see right now.
I have put in NA1... as it makes things easier for me and I need you to correct what is wrong with them.
The colors are picked to be best for people with color deficiencies.
The pattern behind is when there is transparencies, this is different depending on where it's shown. Often I put a percentage of white in the back to soften down this effect, haven't done so here yet.

@Goran tek-en 1. The municipality you circled is Castel Volturno. It is part of NA4, while the ones to its right are NA3 (so what you already did there is correct). The fare zones are not always territorially contiguous, that’s normal.

2. After checking carefully, I found out that Capri (the island you circled) has a special fare and therefore does not fall within this system. You can leave it blank.

3–6. What you did there is correct.

I know you wrote you can add the legend but I prefer to complete the map as I before uploading optimize it. I also keep an "original" svg with different layrs and info so it will be easier for me if something needs to be changed in the future.
