Apple's latest OS X release (10.4) is about to hit the streets. Tiger brings a whole host of improvements and new features to OS X. John Siracusa reviews the new release in his usual style.

So there's an interesting tidbit of a story buried beneath this page. I'm working my way through all of these reviews in preparation for upgrading from Snow Leopard to Yosemite. Well, on Page 20 of this here Tiger review, you say, "There's even a page that actually lists all 200+ new features. I encourage you to read it because I'm certainly not going to cover them all." So I figured, what the heck, I would. And on that page, I ran into this:

Get members-only access to selected Dashboard widgets.

"Hmm," thought I, "I never heard of or received any such widgets, and I was religious about exploiting my .Mac benefits. What gives?"

Well, apparently the answer is that that feature was listed based on the word of an intern who proposed that he'd write them, then never did. Here's the story.
