I'm a genderfluid software engineer, tinkerer, digital artist, creative author, text editor fanatic, system failure enthusiast and free software aficionado, and I come from the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, which is a very long name which would never be used for a boring, sensible country. Which is probably one of the most British things imaginable.

I like spending my time messing around on computers and other such devices, experimenting with code, software, virtualisation, emulation, operating systems and other such stuff. Productivity-wise, I make games and DOOM mods, write websites (like this one!), write code, write game design documents, draw my OCs and sometimes I might actually make a game.

I've been using Arch Linux on my daily driver for a while now, although right now I use CachyOS, which is just Arch with some extra cool stuff and compiler optimisations and all that. It's not that huge of a difference usability-wise, since I'm already very used to the Arch "user-maintainer contract", which Arch calls user centrality. I've also got my Steam Deck which runs Universal Blue's Bazzite image of Fedora Atomic, which basically works like SteamOS but with a better Desktop Mode, more useful for someone like me who uses his Steam Deck like a handheld computer as well as a gaming device. I don't use Windows anymore, not since Windows 11 pulled a Windows 11 and tried to preinstall AI-powered always-on spyware all the while Microsoft basically forced most "regular" laptops to include a NEW key that sits there uselessly and does nothing of consequence, because the bloody "Office key" wasn't bad enough, apparently. Actually, I think it's the same key – it emits Meta+Shift+F23 under Linux, which is silly.

Some tools I often work with are Rust, Lua, Python, Godot, Blender, SLADE, UZDoom, VSCodium (because plain VS Code is ew), Emacs and Neovim. Neovim tends to be my go-to text editor for non-project plain text files, like configs, Markdown files, Lua/Python/Bash/Fish scripts and stuff, while VSCodium is my "workhorse" text editor, usually used when I need a whole project tree and easily-usable Git repos. Emacs I mostly use when I want to mess about in the editor itself.

My primary computer which got me through university. My aunt got it for me because I needed a computer and that was the only one they had at Argos. It's exactly good enough for uni work and light-to-moderate gaming, but not fantastic, which retroactively pisses me off because the current gen Victus 16 has a bloody RTX 4090 and a keyboard with customisable colours.

At some point in 2025, it started breaking down somewhat – the rubberised thing on the back came off, certain keys stopped working (including Left, Right, Delete, and D) and eventually the D key would just come off irrecoverably when I snapped it off in an attempt to clean underneath it. Now I can't put it back on. During my final year of uni, I had to get one of them Logitech K400+ keyboards from CeX to serve as my primary keyboard for when I'm at university, and it was very annoying!

Right now, the laptop is serving desktop duty, sitting in a compartment within my desk, perpetually hooked up to an external keyboard, mouse and monitor, and it's pretty much been like that since I *got* the monitor. I'm not in uni anymore, so I don't need to carry it around. As for getting it fixed? I'd honestly spend the money on a new laptop I know I'll like and will serve me for far longer than this bloody thing rather than repairing a "just okay" laptop that I know I'm still going to be annoyed using.

I've actually wanted a Steam Deck ever since it came out, but it's always been a bit out of budget. It was only when I was in university I was able to get one with the income from my student loan, which is a very responsible decision and absolutely benefitted my studies.

Right now, I either use it for playing Steam and GOG games, emulating games, web browsing, general handheld computer use and on-the-go Linux frickery without the need to lug my laptop around. It lets me run full-fat GNU/Linux while I'm on a bus and doesn't involve voiding the warranty on a vendor-locked device!
