🚀 Big congratulations to Brent Trout on being profiled as a Library Journal Mover & Shaker – Innovator 2025! 🎉 From WWII submarines to leading digital genealogy revolutions, Brent’s journey is anything but ordinary. Under his leadership, the St. Louis County Library’s History & Genealogy Department has seen a 336% spike in program attendance, launched Genealogy University (it got nearly 1,000 applicants in its first run!) and kicked off the library’s first-ever digital archive - beginning in 2023 with yearbooks, city and county directories, and burial certificates. That digital archive is now being expanded with newspapers, images, atlases, and other relevant regional content. It's all in a day's work for Brent! Preserving Local History, Empowering Community... Palos Verdes Library District (PVLD) has taken a significant step in making its rich local history more accessible and engaging. By partnering with Recollect, they've transformed their archives into a dynamic digital repository. This initiative has enabled PVLD to: - Digitally preserve and showcase historical documents and photographs - Engage the community through interactive storytelling and contributions - Provide educators and researchers with easier access to valuable resources Discover how PVLD is bringing history to life and fostering community connections through their digital archives. Monique Sugimoto, Archivist & Adult Services Librarian, is the archivist and local history librarian at PVLD and says, “The sky’s the limit when you are thinking about Recollect because there are so many different ways to do and manage things.” This sentiment captures PVLD’s confidence in Recollect as a platform that supports both Monique’s vision and the library’s mission of preserving and celebrating the history of the Palos Verdes community.
