With grants ranging from $50,000 to $300,000, this initiative supports digitization projects that elevate materials documenting underheard perspectives from the global majority and LGBTQ+ communities to Indigenous voices and more. 📆 Initial applications are due by October 20, 2025. We’re thrilled to announce that the Council on Library and Information Resources (CLIR) has awarded $814,332 in grants to 21 new projects through the Recordings at Risk program. From experimental music to rare Latin American recordings, LGBTQ+ oral histories to regional news archives, these projects will digitize unique audio and audiovisual collections that might otherwise be lost. "Each cycle of Recordings at Risk reminds us how fragile yet vital our recorded heritage is," said Charles Henry, CLIR president.
